  1. In the words of Jackie Gleason... "and away we go". Our first event for the 2022 season begins at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, CA. Originally called the San Diego Open in 1952, it has a great legacy of champions - to include a guy name Tiger who gathered up 7 of those Pine Tree Trophies. The inaugural event winner was Ted Kroll (yah, me neither ) and, amazingly, Arnold only won it one time in 1957. Patrick Reed returns with a VERY DEEP field to defend his title. Keep in mind that we will have an on-line event contest each week and the more weeks you play the more chance you have of winning the bacon. Also that this weeks event starts Wednesday and concludes Saturday; so get your picks for this and Fantasy League in early. https://runmypools.com/JRMPNWWF
  2. After a brief walk in the park at The Palmetto Championship at Congaree, the field moves to Torrey Pines for the 3rd major of the season. The 121st U.S. Open. Often cited as the toughest test in pro golf (depending on course and conditions), it rarely disappoints. An event anyone on this forum could play in (well, technically ). The qualification rounds are grueling and every year we hear of "no names" getting their chance at becoming a Cinderella story. Will Phil chase after a putt and take another swat before it comes to rest? Will #1 Dustin Johnson make the weekend play? Will Major Koepka dig deep into his "I'm mad at the world" locker and get his pound of flesh for his runner-up performance at the PGA Championship? Will the defending champion have both distance and accuracy off the tee, simply out distance the field, and celebrate the win by filling the cup with an ice cold Michelob Ultra? Personally, I'd love to see an underdog win this years event... a lightening in a bottle 4 days of stellar play by someone very few are expecting to win. Who are you picking?
  3. Why did I switch Leishman's spot on my draft? The first event for our Fantasy Golf League. Do you think someone on your roster is going to be hoisting the Torrey Pine Tree on Sunday? I think we're going to have a first time PGA Tour winner - which does bode well for my roster as it stands right now.
  4. Going to try to get some more Tour tourney coverage up in here. Going to do a preview, then round by round recaps. Without further ado.......... Date: February 5th - 8th 2015 Location: Torrey Pines in San Diego, CA Defending Champion: Scott Stallings (-9) Top stories: Dustin Johnson will make his first start of 2015 after a 7 month "layoff" Tiger is ranked outside the top 50 and Vegas doesn't think he'll get any better this week. Featured pairings (according to me) for Thursday and Friday (all times PST): Justin Rose, Jason Day, Dustin Johnson 10:30 South Course Bill Haas, Jimmy Walker, Phil Mickleson 10:40 South Course Billy Horschel, Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler 9:20 North Course Brooks Koepka, Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth 9:30 North Course Scott Stallings, Brandt Snedeker, Ian Poulter 10:40 North Course
  5. What's the best way I can get onto Torrey Pines? My wife and I will be traveling to San Diego, staying from July 10-13. I've decided I HAVE to get on at TP, just for a golf bucket list. I'll probably also play Balboa since it's also close to our hotel, Town and Country, across from Riverwalk GC. Tecolote is also really close. We'll also be flying to Portland, OR where I plan a round at Heron Lakes (played Big Blue last trip there). Any tips?
