  1. Good morning MGS brethren! I am creating this thread to put quality information out into the community for those who are trying to research how to build an epic golf simulator. I just finished my build and it has drastically improved my game in the short time that it has been in use. When I started to research all of the different options for components however, not a lot of good information was available..... Now it will be! I will be updating this thread in a stage-type fashion. Each stage of the project will show pictures of the setup, components, and result. Each stage will also have all of the different vendors researched, the decision that was made & why, and links to the selected products. I hope that this will drastically help anyone going down the road of building their own. Enjoy!
  2. What's up everyone. Everyone knows the big name golf courses that costs an arm and a leg to play. However, I think most of us can enjoy getting out and playing at most courses. I have played some awesome courses that the majority of you have never heard of and I'm sure the same is true for all of you. I want to hear about some hidden gem courses that you have played that not many people know about.
  3. Anyone playing The Hay on Friday? https://www.pebblebeach.com/golf/the-hay/
  4. Being born in the mid 90s, I always heard of the amazing victory by Payne Stewart at Pinehurst in the 99th playing of the United States Open. I've seen the clip of the iconic fist pump on the 72nd hole as Payne holed his birdie putt to win by 1 stroke over "Lefty". Vaguely remembering the tragedy that ended his life, I never got to experience the life of Payne, but revel in the legacy. This weekend, I finally get to see the statue at Pinehurst #2. I will finally be able to enjoy the Pinehurst atmosphere that I have heard so much about! We have three rounds scheduled already, and we will try to squeeze in a 4th somewhere. Since I have never been there, what courses would you recommend playing? Also, what restaurants should I try while there? The only thing as good as a golf trip is a stellar restaurant!
  5. When the team at MyGolfSpy asked us for our picks for the Top 10 Courses in Scotland, it was not an easy task. You are genuinely spoilt for choice with world class golf throughout the country. But we knuckled down and came up with the following 10... when taking into consideration design, surroundings, ambiance and history. 1. The Old Course at St. Andrews 2. Championship Course at Royal Dornoch 3. Championship Course at Carnoustie 4. West Links at North Berwick 5. Championship Course at Machrihanish 6. Old Course at Prestwick 7. Kingsbarns Golf Links 8. Ailsa Course at Turnberry 9. Castle Stuart 10. Muirfield The full "Top 10 Scottish Golf Courses You MUST Play!" article can be seen here. Do you agree with our picks? Or which ones would you put in your top 10? And let us know if you have been lucky enough to play any of these courses! It's worth reading the article as some great comments and suggestions have also been posted by the MyGolfSpy community. Thanks, Guy

  9. I live in South FL, our courses have been closed for 2-3 weeks has anyone else experienced this during the pandemic. Our local track had to rope off the course as people were treating it like a public park. I know most of the state of FL golf courses are still open as social distancing is rather easy in golf any other experiences out there like this?
  10. I've been playing a lot of the TPC Courses in the west coast, You find find my videos here: I have TPC Prestancia, TPC Tampa, TPC Boson, and TPC Potomac coming up. Anyone have any suggestions of TPCs they have played and which they think is great to play?
  11. I have developed an interactive map of Golf Courses in Idaho (http://idaho-golf-courses.blogspot.com) with the latest green fees. I also have them organized by region. These are public courses. I am working on creating a list of private courses for reference as well. I had developed this on a previous blog platform but it was extremely locked down. This should allow me to better upgrade the site and make it more useful. Please let me know your thoughts and any additional things that would help make this a better resource.
  12. After a night of fruitlessly trying to find contact info for multiple courses in Idaho in one easy location. I set out to make a resource that does just that. http://golf-idaho.strikingly.com/blog/idaho-golf-courses (Updated this link due to some site rearranging) This site has the golf courses organized by region and then I also developed an interactive Google map that has only the Idaho Golf Courses. In that Google map, it contains the contact info and current pricing when available. What I am looking for from you guys is any recommendations or critiques to make this a better resource.
  13. I'm sure we all have a list; Golf Courses you wished you'd played. I've been on a number of vacations over the last 15 years and weather it was time constraints or simply no clubs there's a bunch of courses I want to some day go back too. These may no be top 100's or widely raved about venues, but more so ones that caught my eye and I really wish I played. So here's my starter list, I will continue to add to this thread as I think of more or encounter more and I hope you all share yours. Let's try to keep a format of Name, URL, description and a photo. Hopefully we can grow this list Gearhart Golf Links - Gearhart, Oregon http://www.gearhartgolflinks.com/ Close to the sea with those windswept pines, a links style course that reminds me of an old US Open venue. They've recently restored the 122 year old Gem to its true Links identity by removing select trees and expanding the view corridors. Clubhouse was old school uber pimp. BANDON CROSSINGS - Bandon Oregon http://www.bandoncrossings.com/ Guess who it's right down the street from? This is the forgotten course in Bandon thanks to that other famous resort. This ones cut through pines and roughed in - very beautiful. We stopped here on a road trip to stretch our legs and hit balls after I rolled the ATV on my head. So wished we'd played. OCEAN DUNES GOLF LINKS - Florence, Oregon http://threeriverscasino.com/golf Old roughed in dunes/links style course. Was super cheap and looked crazy fun. GLENEAGLES GC - San Francisco http://www.gleneaglesgolfsf.com/ Tight little city public with cool looking small green complexes and that Northern California look on the cheap. PHEASANT GLEN - PARKSVILLE CANADA http://www.pheasantglen.com/ Cut through the old forest of Vancouver Island and mountain backdrops it just looks like a course you'd wanna play. ARROWSMITH GOLF COURSE - Qualicum Beach, BC CANADA http://www.golfarrowsmith.com/ Cool course cut through Vancouver Island pines. QUALICUM BEACH MEMORIAL GOLF CLUB - Qualicum Beach, BC CANADA http://golfqualicum.ca/ Awesome looking small track overlooking the Georgia Straight and beautiful BC coast.
