Hi spies. I just completed my first attempt at restoring a set of clubs and I'm really proud of it Just wanted to share and show how it went. It wasn't easy and I feel like I can get much much better at this with practice, but I'm still really happy with the final product and had a lot of fun with the process. Enjoy! Last week I came across a set of 1981 Titleist Tour Model irons (3-PW) that someone was selling for $40 on craigslist. I thought they looked super cool and I had been reading about club restoration before so it felt like a good opportunity to finally take the plunge and hav

First Topic post - Driver has left this conversation My biggest error, maybe some of yall can relate, is getting off the tee box in prime location. I honestly feel like my mid iron and short iron game is decent. no real big misses, skulls, chunks, etc. But when it came to me using my driver, it was hot and cold off the tees. I decided to leave it in the bag one round to see how well I could do without it and my fellow spys, I shot my lowest recorded score of 81! I would tee off with my 3 wood, hybrid and 4 iron through out the round and didn't find myself in any real big trouble that roun

Five of our trusted members have been selected to test and review the Tommy Armour Atomic irons and report back their findings to the forum. Hi all. I'm new here. Largely drawn to the site due to the fact that this is one of the most truthful, "down-to-Earth" golfing forums I could find (I'm being forcibly humble here, it is easily the best). Product reviews remind me somewhat of Top Gear, but without the cars, the same people, the studio, the guest sections and add golf. So it's not like Top Gear at all. Trust me, I know what I mean. Blunt, unbiased feedback. Anywho, this brings me onto my question for the day. I am relatively new to the game, and I am 19 years old. I am also, like 98% of new golfers, now in the market fo

I recently swapped my Project X 6.5’s for a set of 5.5’s. I did keep the 7i shaft as it had been repaired after bending it around a tree. Its new home is in an old Wilson 2i. I digress, I want to sell these shafts. I have 4,5,6,8,9,PW with grips, Lamkin 3 gen ACE that have been played but are in good shape. The shafts have ferrules but I recommend dressing them up with new ferrules if you have the opportunity. Here’s some pics. I’ll start at $100 shipped within the lower 48. Thanks for looking. I’ll be playing at Sweetens this weekend so I may be out of touch. I’ll check in when I can to answ

Brief mini-review on my impressions hitting the (2017) Steelhead XR at a Callaway demo day. Background: I am solidly in the GI category; eg. a mid-/high-handicapper .. some good shots but then some mental lapses, tension/jitters, whatever .. but making incremental progress over time in producing more solid shots on-target coupled with more manageable misses. Current irons: 2016 Cobra King F6 with FST steel shafts (regular). Prior to these I had Taylormade R9s with graphite shafts. Story: Earlier this year I did see a fitter who recommended changing the shafts to Recoil 460 ES. T

Hello MGS members, I've been playing the same set of irons for the past 15 years or so (Tommy Armour 845 EVO V-31 reduced offset). I still really love the feel and I'm comfortable with them, but I also realize that I'm probably missing out on some added distance and forgiveness that come with today's irons. Any advice on which new iron sets might closely match my Tommy Armours by way of feel, swingweight, sole width, looks, etc.? Thanks very much. It's a big decision!

Hello to all. I'm Italian and my name is Aurelio. I live in the Marche region, a wonderful place with a population of 1,500,000 inhabitants (Ancona, Loreto, Sirolo, Numana, Recanati, Urbino, Jesi, Macerata, Ascoli Piceno ....) but, unfortunately, with a single 18 holes golf course (Conero golf club). I play golf from 6 years but I was also very much interested in the equipments and technology, where you Americans are the undisputed masters. I hope you bear with me for my bad English.
