    New irons!

After 12 years of my current set (Ping S57’s) I’ve finally taken the plunge and ordered a new set of custom fit Mizuno irons. After a few sessions, which involved taking a couple of different options out onto the course, I’ve placed my order for a set - 4 to PW of Mizuno MP20 irons. I’ve gone for a combo set with MP20 HMB 4 & 5 irons and MP20 MMC in the 6 to PW. KBS C Taper Lite stiff shafts, 1” longer than standard, bent 2 degrees upright and 2 degrees weaker than standard. It’s taken a few fittings to get to this final spec and I want to thank my local pro for being (very)

  8. Hello forum members. I wonder if you can help me with an iron issue. I got a new set of AP-3 irons two years ago and (believe it or not) just realized the swingweight feels way too light - no head feel compared to a couple of friends' irons - Mizuno EZ/graphite and Srixon 565/steel. I know it's not precise, but using an online tool and carefully weighing and measuring my irons I came up with a consistent swingweight of C8 for them; the Titleist website indicates they should be D2 (not specified iron or graphite). My shafts are Mitsubishi Tensei CK red. I know some other iron man
  9. COBRA GOLF LAUNCHES LIMITED EDITION RICKIE FOWLER PROTO IRONS Carlsbad, Calif. 10. Hey I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a X flex graphite iron shaft? I'm looking at getting something a little softer on my wrists (have a few issues going on there). Wondering what success anyone has had with graphites in a top end players club ie. Mizuno Mp20 etc. Looking forward to hearing from you all
  11. I golfed with a gentleman today who claimed that golf shafts "wear out" and need to be replaced every 4 years (assuming 50 rounds per year). Can anyone (equipment junkies, club builders, club fitters, etc.) please chime in with your thoughts on this? Is this a valid claim?
  12. NEW, never used, in the plastic, Taylormade SIM Max Irons 4-PW, stiff flex steel KBS stock shaft, standard length and loft, Lamkin regular grips $750 + shipping. I'll ship these next day vs. waiting the month+ that Taylormade is making so it's a great holiday gift! I put in the order for these from Taylormade through my club before I started playing every day and got a simulator. By the time they arrived a month later I was already wanting p770s (which I am currently waiting another month for since TM is so backed up right now). Message me with any questions or if you want any additional photo
  13. Been on the forum for a bit now, just wanted to talk about what’s in my bag and what everyone else has working (or not working) for them. I have just recently changed drivers, that being the Taylormade SIM Max 10.5 degree. I took the shaft (HZRDUS 6.0 76g with the yellow writing, not the smoke) from my PING G30 and had the new tip installed because I absolutely love it and they are harder to find now for some reason. Aside from that, I have had the same clubs In the bag for roughly 3-4 years now. As mentioned, I have the new sim driver, ping g30 3 wood and 3 hybrid (both stock stiff shaft), Mi
  14. The set up T100s: 7-48* T200: 4,5,6 Project X LZ 6.5 (x-flex) 125g 2* upright Tour velvet. T100s (7,8,9,P,G) I was first drawn to the T100s because these irons look so freaking clean. I had no intention of buying a set, I just wanted to try and hit a club that I thought was out of my league. What I found however, was a relatively forgiving and extremely fun to hit set. To clarify, when I say forgiving, I don't mean your miss hits will be knocking down flags, and I don't mean your chunked shots will still be pin high. What I DO mean, is
  15. Hi, I just wanted to share my experience with cold bluing my wedges. The pictures on the left were the wedges after being soaked in coke overnight and rubbed with a steel whool. I used birchwood casey's bluing kit to blue my wedges and they turned out amazing! So if anyone was wondering if they could do this themselves, well, you absolutely can ;).
  16. So I recently had 2 fittings: T100 Pw-6 + T200 5-4 w/ px 6.0 T100S Pw-4 w/ px 6.0 + 50* SM8 w/ px 6.0 The T100 5-4 irons are the same lofts as the T200 6-5 irons. Would the T200 6-5 irons 0.50" longer fit the gap better than the T200 5-4 bent? Obviously it would be so weird having two 6 irons but I am just curious if anyone has tested this at all? Or would bending the T200 5-4 irons be a better option? Another option would obviously be to just go with the stronger lofted T100S so that the T200 fits in easier or just go full T100S, I just don't nee
  17. So I am a pretty high handicapper, i play to about a 15. However, I like the look of more traditional irons. I would say my irons aren't really the issue with my game and I hit them relatively consistent and far (7 iron goes 175-180) but I play game improvement irons with strong lofts. Any suggestions for irons that aren't super blocky but still offer a little forgiveness?
  18. Shankster and PING Blueprint Irons---A Match Made in Heaven? Every so often we do a special review of a club on MGS. Usually it's when the OEM provides us with one set or one driver etc for review, it's not practical to open it up to over 500 to 1,000 applications and pick just one person. So when the Blueprint review was generously offered by PING with the stipulation it went to a member who was a true low single digit handicap, we discussed as a group who would be an ideal member to reach out to test these beauties. Honestly at least half a dozen names came to mind, but some of
  19. Just reading the Title makes me smile. I was fitted over 10 years ago and ended up with S300 shafts. I am getting myself a birthday gift and new irons are on the list. I am going to go hit a bunch of irons in a couple of weeks and looking for a little direction with new shafts. My swing speed and overall swing is the same but I am now seeing other options like Nippon or KBS. I hit the ball mid to high with my irons so just trying to get a feel of what would be on par with the S300.
  20. This review coincided with the National D7 Challenge that Wilson Staff ran through the first 3 months of the season. To be eligible for the testing, forum members had to go to a Wilson Demo Day or local golf store and demo the D7 iron and see how much distance they gained. As a result the selected members received a full set of D7 irons. This testing is also a milestone for MGS of sorts as it marks the first official club test for our women members. So we're excited to have a couple of them chiming in on what we are sure will be some very helpful and insightful reviews. T

  22. Cobra F6 irons for sale. 4 through to Gap Wedge $550 for the set. Location: Newmarket, Ontario Im looking at going to the Cobra One Length, only reason for the switch.
  23. I have never been fit for irons. I’m using 10 year old cobra s2 max irons. I’m an 8.5 handicap. For those that have gotten new irons and been fit for them. How much lower have your scores been? Have you truly noticed a big difference? I have kind of believed that I could learn to hit anything but I’d love to hear some people’s actual results from getting fit.
  24. Lynx Golf announced it's return to the US Market earlier this year. To help spread the word, Lynx offered up 4 sets of it's Black Cat and 4 sets of it's Prowler VT irons to testers of tMYGolfSpy. These testers will be sharing their thoughts with you on everything regarding these irons. They'll begin with a bio of themselves and their games so you can see which tester might most resemble your playing ability and some initial thoughts on the looks of the clubs fresh out of the boxes from the UK. Over the next six weeks or so, they will be returning to the thread to share their th
  25. Earlier this Spring (obviously) I went through a wonderful fitting to get new irons. I'll give some background on this in a bit here but I went in with no preconceptions of what I should buy other than some historical preferences and experiences. Ultimately, my fitter and I decided that going for a split/combo set was the best option to put me in a chance to succeed out on the course. I've only played a little bit since my new clubs arrived in the mail (again, obviously) but luckily I live 700 yards from the center of the first green of our local muni so I have had a chance to hit them quite a
