  1. When the team at MyGolfSpy asked us for our picks for the Top 10 Courses in Scotland, it was not an easy task. You are genuinely spoilt for choice with world class golf throughout the country. But we knuckled down and came up with the following 10... when taking into consideration design, surroundings, ambiance and history. 1. The Old Course at St. Andrews 2. Championship Course at Royal Dornoch 3. Championship Course at Carnoustie 4. West Links at North Berwick 5. Championship Course at Machrihanish 6. Old Course at Prestwick 7. Kingsbarns Golf Links 8. Ailsa Course at Turnberry 9. Castle Stuart 10. Muirfield The full "Top 10 Scottish Golf Courses You MUST Play!" article can be seen here. Do you agree with our picks? Or which ones would you put in your top 10? And let us know if you have been lucky enough to play any of these courses! It's worth reading the article as some great comments and suggestions have also been posted by the MyGolfSpy community. Thanks, Guy
  2. Which is the best destination for a Golf trip? Scotland or Ireland? You may have read MyGolfSpy's recent blog, where we asked two respective authorities of Scottish and Irish golf to go head to head and describe the perfect golf trip to their homeland... and the then say why their itinerary (over the other) deserved the mantle of the best golf trip ever! The article can be read here For those wanting to cut to the chase, the summary is as follows.... Kieran selected the line up below for the "Best Ever Scottish Trip": 1.Old Course, St. Andrews 2.Kingsbarns 3.New Course, St. Andrews 4.Championship Course at Carnoustie 5.West Links at North Berwick 6.Muirfield 7.Gleneagles Kings Not bad! However, when you put it up against Kevin's picks for "Ireland's Best Ever Trip", it's a tough call to decide which is the best... 1.Ballybunion Old 2.Ballybunion Cashen 3.Tralee 4.Waterville 5.Dooks 6.Old Head 7.Killarney What are your views? Which trip would you take? And are you lucky enough to have played any of these courses? Or, do you disagree with their choices? And if so which Scottish or Irish courses would you place in your ultimate trip itinerary? Thanks, Guy
  3. So looking through all these old threads from the past year makes me realize how bummed I was that I didn't get to attend the Vancouver open. So with winter here I thought it would be a great time to start talking and planning the next trip back to Vancouver. Who's with me?
  4. Boy, we have a fantastic sweepstakes running at the moment.... the only caveat is that you need to be able to get there if you win! Yes, we are giving away a 3 Night Trip to St Andrews, Scotland where you and a lucky buddy will play Kingsbarns, The New Course.... and The Old Course You will also enjoy 5* accommodations during your stay. The dates for the trip are June 8th to 10th... so just a couple of weeks away. Therefore, if you can get yourself over to Scotland in time, and you win, then it is all yours! The sweepstakes is hosted on our Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/GolfbreakscomTours/ You can also enter here: http://woobox.com/4a424p-j97 Good luck! Guy
  5. Shameless plus coming up (apologies in advance!)... ...but I'd thought I'd let you all know that we still have a few St Andrews Old Course packages available for this summer. They all have guaranteed tee times on the Old Course... so you can ensure that you will be playing the tee time of all time! Package details and dates can be seen here. If this sounds tempting and you fancy a trip to the Home of Golf this summer then please get in contact on: 1-855-699-5853 (toll free) or usasales@golfbreaks.com Chris, Sean and Connor will be able to help you and answer any questions. Furthermore, you'll see that we still have one June package still available (8th-10th), which is only a few weeks away! Therefore, we are happy to give you a very good deal on this package if you can jump on a plane and get yourself over to Scotland in time. Finally, if you are looking for a complete bargain, then grab our Old Course October Offer. There are only a few green fees left, but we are offering 6 nights and 5 rounds (including the Old Course) from $1840 pp. View packages >> Happy golfing. Guy
  6. You may have read our recent front page article on “How to Organize the Perfect Golf Trip to the UK or Ireland”… If you haven't then you can view it here. Anyway, I'd love to know any additional tips that you might have for organizing golf vacations (either to the US, UK or Internationally), so please post them below. Personally, one of the hardest things that I find when organizing a trip is to get friends (especially guys) to commit to coming, and not having them drop out at the last minute – which can cause a lot of pain. I find that the solution to that is to get the trip dates in everyone's diaries months in advance… and then get a deposit upfront from them as soon as you can (…you soon get their commitment once they've handed over hard cash!) Another top tip is; if one of your buddies snores loudly…. Then make sure that you put them a single room! (Or have a few whiskey's each the evening so that you sleep through it!) Let me know your top tips... Thanks Guy

  8. I am pleased to say that we are currently running another fabulous sweepstakes to win a 7 night, 5 round Golf Vacation for 4 people to Wales. The lucky winners will play the pick of the crop in South West Wales with rounds at Pennard, Ashburnham and Royal Porthcawl - classic old school links courses; the modern day masterpiece Machynys Peninsula - designed by Jack Nicklaus; and the world famous Celtic Manor Twenty Ten Course - home of the 2010 Ryder cup. You'll also enjoy 4-star accommodations throughout your stay in Cardiff and Swansea - fantastic cities to visit and enjoy the night life! Wales is riding high at the moment with national teams doing well in both the Rugby World Cup and the European Championships (soccer), so here is your chance to join in with the party, for a whole week, and play some world class golf! You can enter here: http://usa.golfbreaks.com/sweepstake/ Good luck.... and your entries need to be in by midnight on November 2nd. Guy
  9. Hey Folks, If you are on your way to Florida or just looking for a great vacation spot it would be worth your while to check out Jekyll Island. There are 3 18 hole courses that play out of one clubhouse and a great little 9 hole course adjacent to the ocean. Conditions are usually good and the price is fair at $45 on weekends, packages could be less. If your better half isn't in to golf there are many options including historical tours, tennis, the beach, fishing and a spa. I've been going for years and absolutely love it! B2
  10. Heading to my timeshare in Hilton Head on Saturday, Sept 19th. I will be staying for a week at Waterside and playing at the Port Royal & Shipyard courses. I also will have one of my golf buddies along as well as his wife. We should be playing most days and could use a fourth. All three of us will be playing from the Senior Tees. I am just a couple months shy of 65, so I can handle the Senior Tees on vacation. Let me know if any MGS'ers can come out and play.
