  1. Anyone subscribe to this? Wondering if that could help my dispersion. Thinking left dash or others, although everything else seems very soft for my swing. Suggestions?
  2. I'm wondering what experiences other people have had with the Spalding SD Tour and SD Tour X ball sold at Walmart for $25/dozen. I've bought a dozen of each now and have been impressed to say the least. I found both to be long with the non-X version being longer for me and the spin on the non-X version is tremendous. The amount of spin and penetrating trajectory I get with my mid irons on the non-X ball is what caught me off-guard. I was on a 175 yard par 3 last night and hit two 6-irons and they both did a short hop and stopped hard. I'm a more of a sweeper and getting my 6-iron to hop and stop is something I've rarely done in the past. I'm not saying my 6-iron shots just run off greens but being able to hold the ball to less than 5 feet from the landing spot is unusual. For reference, I played the Snell MTB-X all of last year and liked it but I switched away from it because it seems the ball exacerbated sidespin on slight mishits. I've tried the Z-Stars and generally liked them but they definitely seemed shorter off my driver. I recently went through a dozen of Vice Pro+ and really liked them and thought they were similar to the SD Tours but didn't spin quite as much.
  3. Hello everyone, I have been playing callaway chrome soft for quite some time. I have tried other balls here and there, such as pro v1, bridgestone e6 and tour 330, maxfli tour, and just recently the supersoft from callaway. This is from the time i started playing 5 years ago up until last weekend. I love the way the chrome soft feel on a well hit shot and it was ok on mishits. The supersoft was less erratic and i will find out this weekend more about the distance. Im not even remotely close to a scratch golfer, but i figure straighter is better and should result in lower scoring. Im hoping the supersoft keeps going straight and i dont lose too much distance and control around the greens. Anyone have any thoughts on this, or any experience?
  4. Hi Everyone, I'm stuck here in Minnesota where it has been unbearably hot or thunderstorming, so I thought I would do a review of two balls relatively new to the market. I have chosen the new Titleist AVX and Vice Pro because I've been looking for a ball with low-spin off of my longer clubs but that also retains spin from the mid-irons down to chips. Also, I'm a sucker for how the dimple-pattern on the AVX looks AND for how sleek Vice's logo is. As you will see, the review consists of a variety of different shots that were tracked using FlightScope Mevo: 1. 10-yard Bump-and-Run (Closed-face 54* SW) 2. 10-yard Chip (60* LW) 3. 50-yard Pitch (60* LW) 4. Full 60* Lob Wedge 5. Full 7-Iron 6. Full 3-Wood (I know that the typical "driver" component is missing, but I haven't included it because I don't usually hit driver and instead use my 3-wood off of the tee. I hope this doesn't ruin the test for anyone!) So, without further ado, here are the head-to-head results for each ball (I hit many shots with each ball and only chose shots that that represented good/typical swings): 10-Yard Bump-and-Run AVX: Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne Vice Pro: 10-Yard Chip Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne AVX: Vice Pro: 50-Yard Pitch Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne AVX: Vice Pro: Full Lob Wedge Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne AVX: Vice Pro: 7-Iron Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne AVX: Vice Pro: 3-Wood Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne AVX: Vice Pro: Conclusions: Wow, what a similar ball! I really wasn't expecting so much overlap. There are a few stand-out statistics to me, though: 1. The two balls are basically identical on green-side chips. 2. The AVX launches consistently higher than the Vice Pro (except for the full LW). 3. The distance on full shots is generally comparable. 4. The Vice Pro spins a few-hundred rpm's more with the lob wedge, but a few hundred rpm's less with the 7-iron. 5. The Vice Pro carries farther with a more penetrating trajectory and less spin with the 3-wood.

  8. Like many players I'm always looking for things nobody else at my club has, enter the Vice duro glove. Firstly the glove looks great! The neon accent sets it apart from other gloves and anyone who knows the Vice brand will recognize it. The materials feel as good or better than other gloves anywhere near this price point ($10ea. if you get 3). The fit of the glove isn't good. On the website they claim the same fit as the Titleist glove wich isn't accurate. The glove fits small through the palm and long through the fingers compared to the Titleist glove. The glove does however live up to the duro name. After several games and practice sessions the glove has held up better than expected. Overall this is a good product at a great price that is a bit unique.
