  1. I'm sure this topic was already discussed. What apps have you found great to use for during your round for shot distances, approach shots, putting slopes, scorecard/handicap, etc.? I want to pick one and upgrade to have the full features this season. I had used 18birdies a little bit last year just to plan shots, keep my score and didn't upgrade, which that alone has been a great help and was an easy app to use. I was just looking at GolfLogix which looks like they have green slopes mapped out which is great for approach and putts which could help cut a few strokes having that knowledge, and I don't think 18birdies does that. GolfLogix looks a bit spammy though and has a lot of pop-up windows, and you have to upgrade to get rid of ads. Not sure if I'm a fan of that. Anybody upgrade GolfLogix? 18birdies? Any recommendations of other ones? What features have you used/appreciated? What benefits have you experienced? I imagine these apps have helped a lot of others out there cut some strokes down knowing distances better and help with reading putts. Thanks!
  2. Hi All - I recently made an iPhone app for my dad (who is deaf) to help him communicate with hearing people. Did you know that lipreading is only ~30% accurate? My dad is a 5 handicap golfer and I noticed that often times he'll get paired up with other golfers in tournaments or weekend play, and after the other golfers find out he's deaf they'll simplify their speech or avoid talking to him because they don't know what to say. The app converts voice-to-text in real time and all you would have to do is talk into the phone or plug in an Apple earbud and talk into the microphone (which tends to reduce the background noice and get a more accurate transcription). My dad has tested the app in numerous situations, including on the golf course, and so far the response has been great. The new people he meets are able to speak normally and he can follow along with the conversation by reading the iPhone instead of acting like he understands what his going or being said. Have any of you played golf with someone who is deaf or hard-of-hearing and would App MyEar have helped your interaction? Curious to know what you think! 4. Hi Everyone, I wanted to share an iPhone app I've been working on in my free time while holding down a tech job. For the longest time, I have been looking for something to help me take my game from the practice tee over to the golf course and when I realized most training aids were designed to be used on the range, I decided to build it something I could keep in my pocket in practice rounds. That's how concept for the GolfBeats app started. The app has vibrating cues to help golfers know when to start the next sequence. To use the app, I just open it before I tee off and make a few swings to make sure my swing is in rhythm, then head over to the first tee. If it's a practice round, then I'll keep the app running in my pocket and test out my swing under pressure. Sometimes I notice that my swing gets ahead of the vibrating cues because of the adrenaline/nervousness and the app helps me to be aware of this. Hoping for some feedback on the product and curious to know what you all think about it! Link to the GolfBeats app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/golfbeats/id1190230444?mt=8 (also included a driver swing I made today with GolfBeats) driver 01.12.mov
  5. This past Sunday I stumbled across (again) the Tour Tempo website. Basically they are promoting a method to train yourself to have a more tempo'd swing. Of course once you have that you'll strike the ball better with increased distance, accuracy, etc. Ok, I can use that. I thought the idea of using the app and listening to the tones might help my game in some measure. Sure couldn't hurt. The app is quite expensive as far as apps go. $25. I plan to get out tomorrow and give Tour Tempo a try. Have any of you guys tried it? Any success? Thoughts?
  6. New to blog forums, so I look forward to any tips/coaching. Lookng for ways to introduce our Pro-Am tournaments, which bring the Next Generation of Fantasy Golf to golfers at 11,800 courses across the country.
  7. Would you like to pick 2 PGA Tour players as partners in a Pro-Am? Format is 3 man Best Ball. We have developed an app that let's you do that at 11,800 courses across America. There are divisions for handicap players and non-handicap players. Very cool scorecard app that also tracks your groups sidegames and wagers. We are using Kickstarter as way for people to get early entry tokens at a discount. We would love to get your help. Just click the link https://goo.gl/13Yd81 Before you ask, there are plenty of ways we safeguard the integrity of the competition, including verifying all tournament scores have been posted with USGA approved handicap provider i.e. GHIN or equivalent. Thoughts???

Review deadline is Wednesday, May 28th. Please contact Megan at megan@hcgolfapp.com for a demo code. http://bit.ly/1jYRFb1
