When it comes to PING many things come to mind, quality, engineering, performance and irons are among the first things most people will think of. And with the release earlier this year of the G410 irons, PING has hit on each one of those characteristics. Following the huge success of the G400 irons, PING has hit a home run with the striking black and red colors of this iron, as well as a being a bit more streamlined in all the right places. PING has achieved the rare feat of providing an iron that has a profile appealing to even the most discerning of golfers, but yet still offering the forgiveness and help that higher handicaps look for. We are looking for three forum members to join staff member Golfspy_Stroker in testing, reviewing and keeping a set of these G410's built to their custom specs. Testing will require a nearly two month commitment of putting the irons in play on the course, at the range and providing ongoing commentary in the forum thorough out the process. As an extra bonus to the irons, the selected testers will have the option to choose Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips equipped with Arccos. The clubs will come with a 99 day free trial to arccos. After that the tester would be responsible for paying for the subscription in order to continue it. It will be a great way to add data to your review. PING has opened this testing to all golfers regardless of country of residence. All you have to do to be eligible for the testing is follow the below instructions. In a post in this thread please provide the following information...AND DO NOT QUOTE this post when replying! First Name/State or Country of residence Handicap Current irons in Play The carry distance of the your 7 iron That's it. Good luck to everybody We'll be selecting the testers within the next 10 to 14 days, so check back to see if you've been selected! =========================================================================================== YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE.... Please join me in congratulating these members selected from a very large and diverse applicant pool: @ballplayer002003 @GregB135 @Rickp Official announcement here: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/33112-testers-wanted-3-ping-g410-irons/?do=findComment&comment=571106
This is a process that started back in January at the PGA Show when I had a conversation with the people at PING about the testings for this year. Both of us wanted to do something new and different, and after coming up with an idea and ironing the details, a testing unlike any we've done before was born. We talk often on this site saying "Go Get Fit" and PING has a phrase you hear constantly among it's staff #FittingMatters And one of the areas that we felt fitting was overlooked was in the long game, fairway woods and hybrids. So I went out to PING HQ in Phoenix, and was fit by one of their master fitters. PING then graciously arranged for the four testers who were selected, to be fit by either the area field rep for PING or in the case of two of them, two top 100 PING Fitters. So this review thread will be a bit different as it will have a third stage--the fitting process--which will be talked about at the same time as Stage 1 is posted. As a staff tester, I will post one stage, that is hopefully not TLDR...but make no promise Each person was fit to what fit their personal gaps between driver and the last iron. So each of us came up with a different combo to test. I think you will find the results very interesting and in some cases eye opening. One final note. Due to the horrific weather and deadly floods/tornado's that hit MO last month, TSauer's fitting was delayed quite a bit from the others. Fortunately he and everyone involved are safe and sound, but it just took a while for them to all work through the timing. So his stage's may be a bit behind the others, but he has an awesome setup to review, and I'm looking forward to reading all these, knowing how my setup has helped my game already. @revkev Stage 1 Fitting Stage 2 @mr.hicksta Stage 1 Fitting Stage 2 @TSauer Stage 1 Fitting Stage 2 @PAgolfer2017 Stage 1 Fitting Stage 2 @Golfspy_CG2 Combined Review
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS FOR BEING SELECTED...STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFO FROM ME @revkev @TSauer @PAgolfer2017 @mr.hicksta Sit Down This is A Big One!! What's your most effective club after your last iron and before your driver, 4-hybrid, 5 wood, utility iron? And how does that club fit with the rest of your clubs in that gap? Were you fit for it? Well according to the people I met with at PING at the PGA Show, most golfers don't pay as much attention to this area as they pay to the driver, irons and putter. Sure it may not be as thrilling as a driver fitting, and being covered up with head covers they may not bring the attention to your bag that shiny new irons do. But properly fit and gapped, they absolutely will save strokes in your long game. So we are looking for four testers to join myself in putting the latest line of PING G410 fairway-woods/hybrids/crossovers to test to see how they help improve your long game. Which clubs will you be testing? Well that's where part of the real fun comes in. Once selected, the testers will be set up with a FREE fitting by the local rep or an authorized top fitter in the area, for the gap between driver and irons. When the fitter has determined the setup those specs will be sent to PING and you will receive the clubs to test/review and keep. It's imperative that anyone that applies for this testing, understands and agrees that they will receive exactly what the fitter recommends, and not what you think you'd prefer or think you'd be more comfortable with. If you're not willing to put your trust in the hands of professional fitters, than this testing isn't for you. So put all egos aside and go into the fitting open minded. I know I did exactly that and was quite surprised and even more pleased at the results. I'll share my experiences and setup once the testing has begun. Also just want everyone to know, while the recent partnership announcement between PING and Arccos is very exciting, they will not be an option for this this testing. How to apply. This is important, so please follow these instructions carefully: 1. If you haven't already, make sure you're a registered MyGolfSpy Forum member 2. In this thread (and ONLY in this thread - please don't go back to the blog and apply - it won't do you any good!), tell us the following: - Your first name - City/State - Your swing speed and handicap - Your current setup of FW/Hybrid/Utility,....for example: 17* Utility iron, 5 wood, 4 hybrid Right Hand or Left Hand This review opportunity is open to any golfer who resides in the US (due to fitting logistics). We'll be announcing the testers in this thread next week, so make sure to check back. Please do not 'quote' this post when applying...
How do you improve on a line of drivers that had a member of the family win the coveted Most Wanted Driver in 2018? That's certainly a tough task for any group of engineers. But the really smart guys in the lab coats in the rooms where nobody is allowed to go in Phoenix are betting they have done just that. And they have gone into uncharted waters to do so. PING has been if not the last , then most certainly the last major equipment company to produce a driver with movable weights. For years PING has stated that it had enough technology built into each version of it's drivers that you need not worry about unscrewing plugs, or sliding bars, or inserting cogs etc. They had done all the work for you and the driver would work just fine, and they did thank you very much. Well take a close look at the rear of the new G410 Plus pictured below. You'll see three possible ports for a movable weight, center for neutral, on the heel for draw bias and out on the toe for fade bias. People have finally gotten what they have clamored for. And for those who prefer a driver with a bit of a draw bias and don't need to change if from that, well PING hasn't forgotten you, as it made the G410 SFT--Straight Flight Technology--and it otherwise has all the same technology. Will this movable technology along with all the hosel adjustment that can moved into eight different configurations make one of the best drivers on the market year in and year out even better? Well we're going to leave it to four dedicated and trustworthy and oh alright, it's OK to say-- LUCKY as well-- members of the My Golf Spy forum to test, play, review--and keep-- these drivers. The members of the forum will anxiously be awaiting the results. The testers will be getting these drivers pretty much the same time they will be hitting retail shelf's, so you will be among the very first consumers on the course with these incredible looking drivers. HOW TO APPLY: in this thread - and ONLY in this thread - tell us the following: 1. Your first name and home state or province. -US and CN eligible. 2. Your current handicap and driver swing speed 3. Your current driver 4. List whether you would like to review the G410 Plus or G410 SFT Pretty straightforward! Good luck, and we'll be announcing the testers in this forum early next week! WE HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE! Congrats to the following testers: @jlukes @fixyurdivot @tony@CIC @PING Apologist #9 Please see the post below for more details: Edited April 2, 2018 by GolfSpy Rob (see edit history)
