  1. The New Year has arrived and it's time to turn our attention to the PGA Tour! Get ready for the: 2019 MYGOLFSPY FANTASY GOLF LEAGUE The MGS community lends itself to large fantasy leagues which boost the drama to nail-biting hair-pulling levels (just ask @blackngold_blood). This will be a great opportunity to connect with fellow posters and chat about the PGA Tour all summer long. @Berg Ryman and I will be your humble commissioners. The format will change from last year and we're working with Fantrax to see if they can add a new option for the season/playoffs. If that doesn't pan out, we have a plan B that we'll roll out. Both options will be geared to maximize drama during the season and in the playoffs. In the meantime, it's time to start gathering players. So, who's in?? Platform: Fantrax Buy-In: Free Draft: January 30, 2019 9:00PM EST (can be changed by popular demand) Draft Format: TBD pending league size Format: Head 2 Head - Details TBD Scoring: See Below League Size: As big as we can get while remaining even 1st Tournament: AT&T Pebble Beach - February 7, 2019 Playoffs: During FedEx Playoffs Prize: For returning players, the 2018 league has been renewed and all of your profiles carried over. There's no action required from you on the Fantrax side, but please confirm your interest in this thread. Until your name below says confirmed, you're not in the league: BjornsBoys Cam’s Gotta Big Putt - Confirmed Carolina Golfer 2 - GolfJunkie302 - Confirmed Jahren01 putt masters - Confirmed Low Country Hacker - Confirmed MGoBlue100 - Confirmed mpatrickriley - Confirmed Mudfish - Confirmed Rhyming Bergs - Confirmed pineapple squad - Confirmed poprocksnbirdies - Confirmed Shankster - Confirmed Stud Muffins - Confirmed tom mc - Undershooter30 - Confirmed Newly Added: GolfSpy Stroker GB13 bardle 02uwmadgrad TSauer cnosil blackngold_blood Apolloshowl Russtopherb Jbmullin DannyDips GeekingGolf Asef HQ Intern Kyle GolfSpy Dave 00sportsman Alanpe HardcoreLooper If you're new and would like to join for the first time, drop a comment in this thread then shoot me or Berg a PM with your email address. We'll get an invite headed your way. For simplicity, the point values were reduced by the highest common divisible (5). Anything that used to be worth 5 points, is now worth 1; anything that was 10, is now 2 and so on. The scaling and weight is exactly the same as before. The only new category is Par for 1/2 point to keep course setup from blasting our players. Scoring Summary: Albatrosses: 4 Birdies: 2 Bogies: -1 Cuts Missed: -1 Cuts Made: 2 Double Bogies: -2 Eagles: 3 Holes In One: 4 Others: -3 Par: 1/2 Top 25: 5 Top 3: 5 Top 10: 5 Wins: 5 In addition to expressing interest, please comment on any changes you'd like made to the scoring or format. No promises that they'll be incorporated, but now is your chance to make recommendations. Stay tuned for more details. Good Luck!
  2. https://www.geoffshackelford.com/homepage/2019/1/30/koepka-on-pace-of-play-guys-are-already-so-slow-its-kind-of-embarrassing Not only is Brooks right, but I think it's only a matter of time before someone finally gets DeChambeau to pick up the pace and knock off the intentionally gamesmanship that he displays against his playing partners, by intentionally waiting to start his conversation with his caddie about whatever it is they talk about, until after the other guys have finished hitting. I mean, if you want to talk about air density and a thousand other things no one ever thinks about, fine, but all I think anyone is asking here is that you abide by the pace of play guidelines that the Tour has in place. Eventually the Tour has to buckle to the pressure if enough outside influences keep this topic as alive and well as it has been for some time now. I'm just surprised we have such a blatant horrible penalty on a non-issue with Haotong Li that gave him no advantage whatsoever, when pace of play actually does affect the other golfers on the course, not only in your group, but also behind you, as they wait on every shot because you are too busy crunching numbers on things no one besides you has a clue about or could care less about.
  3. Don't forget about the good senior players when testing players equipment

  4. How about it Spies? Anyone going to be watching (after football of course...)? This is one of my favorite tournaments since it reminds me of our two trips to vacation on Oahu including just last year the week after this same event. Love Hawaii and dream daily of visiting there more in the future. Ahhhh, the sun, the surf, the drinks....sigh... I know we have a few spies who live there (@yungkory for one), and @SteddyGolf used to be stationed there also. Curious if anyone has ever gone to watch or even are planning to attend this year. If so, please share some pics, videos and anything related. Also, please share your picks and anything related to this tourney here. Me? I going with Bryson. He just looks to be in some sort of weird zone lately. Second for me is JT. MAHALO!
  5. I'm no math whiz but that equation looks wonky and until roughly 3:00 PM EST, Sunday 8/26/18 the answer was actually "10". But after grinding out a final round (-2) 69 at The Northern Trust, Bryson Dechambeau turned it up to "Eleven" and joined the following list of professional golfers that have won 3 or more PGA Tour events before their 25th birthday over the past 30 years: Phil, Tiger, A. Scott, Sergio, A.K., Rory, Spieth, JT, Hideki, P. Reed. Of the 11 names currently occupying this list, only 3 have yet to claim a major title: A.K. - this mystery deserves further study; Hideki - it's only a matter of time; Dechambeau - the subject of this thread... Alright, I've thrown enough historical numbers at you. Let's focus the rest of this discussion on the "Mad Scientist". Love him or hate him (I personally fall somewhere in the middle), this man is playing a different game than the rest of the tour; and quirky as it may be, the stats are getting harder to ignore. FedEx Cup Rank: 1 OWGR: 11 (how serendipitous) 2018 Cuts - PGA Tour : 19/23 (technically adjusted for injury related WDs 21/23) Total Strokes Gained: 5th B.A.D. has been making history since his college tenure (5th player to hold both NCAA Championship and U.S. Amateur in the same year - Nicklaus, Woods, Phil, R. Moore) and upon turning Pro in 2016, seems hell bent on elevating his game to equally rarefied professional ranks. But how is he really getting it done? This question is the heart of the matter and what I find so intriguing. During interviews he exhibits a supreme (to the point of annoyance) confidence but just last month cameras captured the driving range meltdown reminiscent of a weekend hacker. The foundation of his game champions accuracy over length but coming down the stretch we have seen the swing science go awry with some shots that are absolutely off the map. It's now clear that the protractor wasn't his sole trump card. So let's suss it out Spies...
  6. Hey everyone. I have started a WGC Bracket challenge over on the PGA tour website. http://fantasybracket.pgatour.com Since I'm not a big wig I don't have any prizes other than bragging rights. League Name: My Golf Spy Password: MGS2017wgc Admin's: If I have hit one O.B. by taking this initiative please accept my apologies. EDIT: Major kudos to jason for taking the initiative and starting this. A couple of emails later and we have a SPONSOR - the awesome folks at SNELL GOLF!!! Snell Golf is generously donating 2 dozen MyTour Balls to the cause - personally I think we should agree to send one dozen to jasonthepharmacist for getting this thing started -- provided he agrees to share some cheap Canadian medication with us!! -- JMB

  8. Just wanted to share a ~1 hour interview with PGA Tour winner and Impact Zone Golf founder Bobby Clampett. Interview covers his playing days, what he learned as a CBS announcer, then his comments on some current swings and his passion for instruction and the golf swing Soundcloud link - https://t.co/BvosQ344cJ

Discussion covers a number of players, the tournament, 2018 thoughts and more. That episode is explicit/NSFW https://soundcloud.com/user-560168764/sub-70-episode-1 The second episode is a ~60 minute interview with Mark Calcavecchia. It's a great conversation from a 13 time PGA Tour winner, Open Champ and Ryder Cup champ.. You can find that episode below https://soundcloud.com/user-560168764/episode-2-mark-calcavecchia

  11. Could this be a sign that Tiger is officially done? I don't think that will be determined until after The Masters.
  12. Reports out of South Korea suggest that Bubba is on the verge of switching to a Volvik ball for the 2017 season. This is interesting......if it is true.
  13. Yeah, so Tiger shot 70 today and thats all I've heard about for the past few hours. Do we really care what Tiger shot in a Pro-am? I'm excited about his return, but come on. Here is Tiger talking about getting back out there. The best question from the short interview....."whats it like to be out there in pants, walking". LOL
  14. Does this swing have longevity? Definitely a change from his violent tendencies of the past. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
  15. Impressive performance by Hideki Masuyama at the World Golf Championships in Shanghai. Any time you whip the field by 7 strokes you know you've had a good weekend. 24. Location: Waialae CC, Honolulu, HI Defending Champ: Jimmy Walker Fantasy Preview 2015 Top 5 Jimmy Walker -17 Chris Kirk -16 Jerry Kelly -15 Harris English -14 Marc Leishman -13 Round by Round Leader Round 1 - Sang Moon Bae 63 Round 2 - Marc Leishman/Hudson Swafford/Paul Goydos 64 Round 3 - Will Wilcox/John Daly 64 Round 4 - Jimmy Walker 63 2016 Yahoo Expert Picks 1. MATT KUCHAR [YAHOO CLASS B] - WORLD RANKING: #16 Kuchar's profile fits this course like a glove and it's shown in the last five years. Kuch has played here four times in the last five years and hasn't finished lower than T8 in those four starts. In the four years prior to this run, he'd missed three of four cuts and his only weekend saw him finish T65. So, he's figured something out and it's time to ride him again this week. 2. JIMMY WALKER [YAHOO CLASS B] - WORLD RANKING: #12 I'm not sure there's much to say. He's won back to back at the Sony and comes in looking for the three-peat. If you want to fade him, that's fine, but I think there isn't any reason to leave him off your Group B crew this week. 3. BRANDT SNEDEKER [YAHOO CLASS B] - WORLD RANKING: #42 When Snedeker has that putter working, look out! He looked great last week and I believe his form will carry over into this week. He's one of my statistical favorites as well as he finished 2015 fifth in SG:P, 106th in SG:T2G, 35th in P4BOB, 57th in GIR 4. HARRIS ENGLISH [YAHOO CLASS A] - WORLD RANKING: #64 You'll see I'm putting a lot of faith in course history this week and English is another one with fantastic history here. English has finished in the top 10 each of the last three years. He made three of four cuts to start this season, but that hardly matters when it comes to Waialae. 5. MARC LEISHMAN [YAHOO CLASS B] - WORLD RANKING: #56 Leishman is six for six in cuts made and had his worst finish of his career last year with his T37. He has two top ten finishes and two other top 20s. So, the history is here even if he stumbled a bit last year. He's coming off a win in his last time out at the Nedback Golf Challenge in South Afirce and has been solid in the early part of this new season.
  25. The following is a press release from Kentwool. Kinda cool deal for the Association of Professional Tour Caddies... KENTWOOL NAMED OFFICIAL SOCK OF THE ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL TOUR CADDIES Makers of the “World's Best Golf Sock” Partner with the APTC In An Effort To Boost Appreciation for Professional Golf's Foot Soldiers GREENVILLE, S.C. — KENTWOOL, makers of the “World's Best Golf Sock,” announced today that it has become the “Official Sock of the Association of Professional Tour Caddies (APTC),” marking the first-ever sponsorship deal for the organization. The APTC was formed to unite caddies for the betterment of the profession, and is teaming up with KENTWOOL because of the sock maker's ability to deliver a superior product that improves the foot health, comfort and performance of its members. As part of the deal, KENTWOOL will provide its popular Men's Tour Profile and Men's Tour Standard socks for professional Tour caddies to wear each week in competition. Both the Men's Tour Profile and Tour Standard socks are constructed from a proprietary blend of Super Fine Merino Wool and other natural and high-tech performance fibers. Each pair is infused with an innovative WINDspun technology to deliver unparalleled comfort, and is designed to reduce friction, abrasion and muscle fatigue. In fact, KENTWOOL is so confident in the comfort of its socks, the company offers a lifetime “Blister-Free Guarantee” with the purchase of every pair. “At golf's highest level, every step counts, so who better to serve as a testimonial to the comfort and performance of our socks than professional Tour caddies,” said Dan Murphy, president at KENTWOOL. “We are excited about this relationship because we believe we can improve the podiatric health of caddies while helping to raise awareness of the important job they do week-in and week-out. In addition, we know that caddies act as trusted advisors to their players on and off the course, so this relationship will only help us grow use of KENTWOOL among the world's best golfers as well.” “Our members make their living on their feet – so foot care is critical. Our guys don't think of socks as just a fashion item – they need real gear that performs and keeps them going. We chose Kentwool because they deliver the best possible sock available,” said James Edmonson, APTC president. “In addition, we are thrilled that KENTWOOL has had the foresight to join forces with us early on and help us grow awareness of our organization and the important roles caddies play in golf at the highest level.” To help raise the profile of professional golf's largely-unheralded heroes, KENTWOOL will roll out several new programs tied to the APTC sponsorship, including a “Caddie Corner” on its website. “Caddie Corner” will serve as a resource for caddie insights, stories and a unique perspective on the lives of Tour players. Furthermore, consumers will be given an opportunity to ask caddies questions and they will respond within 24 hours. In addition to “Caddie Corner,” KENTWOOL will also introduce several cause-related initiatives tied to marquee events and their designated charities throughout the season. The KENTWOOL – APTC partnership will officially kickoff this week at the 2016 Sony Open in Honolulu, with nearly 100 caddies in the field expected to don KENTWOOL socks during the event. Since 2008, KENTWOOL has been manufacturing the “World's Best Golf Sock.” Drawing on over 150 years of mastery in wool manufacturing, KENTWOOL has leveraged the attributes of the natural “smart” fiber for unmatched comfort and performance in the sock category.
