  1. Just joined the forum after lurking for months. 2 things for sale: 1. Sim2 10.5 degree driver with Ventus Velocre Black 5x (no tipping) $600 shipped to Continental US. Add $10 for shipping to East of Mississippi. Note: Pics don't show, sale includes OEM headcover 2. i210 4-GW Black dot standard L/L/L. Shafted with PX LZ 6.0. $800 shipped to Continental US. Add $10 for shipping to East of Mississippi. I only take PayPal via Goods and Services (no Friends and Family). Feel free to ask questions or for more pictures. **The pictures switched order in the way they were uploaded... not sure how to fix it. Sorry about that
  2. What's good everyone! I won't rehash what is already know by many golfers with regards to PING's G425 irons, for there are plenty of YouTube videos and written reviews on these Game Improvement Irons ... for additional details, I'll simply plug MyGolfSpy's initial release announcement of PING's irons back in January of this year. https://mygolfspy.com/ping-g425-irons-cleaned-up-tightened-up-squared-up/ And it was that very article that caught my attention to the new G irons ... and more specifically, it's the irons beautiful, clean, simple and attractive black and matte grey color-way that immediately caught my eye. Now, this may be a gross overstatement, and in no way am I stating that these irons will perform like that of the high-end automobile brand that I'm about to state, but these new G425 irons look like the Lamborghini's of irons in the GI category. In my opinion, they're absolutely gorgeous. And call me biased, I also can't help but feel that these irons will fall into their classic irons category much like their i210s have within the past 3 years. It was back in March that I stopped by my local DSG store with the intent of simply taking a look at their standard G425 irons on the display rack ... I was a smitten kitten. My specs for as long as I can remember have always been 2* up with the shafts being a half-inch to an inch longer over standard (depending on what standard was to the manufacturer, and truthfully, it appears as thought standard iron lengths have lengthened from what standard was 15 years ago). The shafts in my previous two iron sets have been the Modus 105 Stiff ... tried both PING's AWT 2.0 and the Modus 105 from the launch monitor ... very similar numbers with the Modus 105s having a higher peak ball flight. Placed the order for green dot, 3/4" for Modus 105 shafts with Golf Pride's Velvet Arccos grips in Midsize. Was told 6 to 8 weeks for delivery, I was cool with that. Fast forward to August, still no clubs or eta on their arrival, I cxld the order. Albeit, the delay isn't exclusive to PING for many golf OEMs are experiencing the same supply chain issues ... heck, the CCC5 was cxld due to issues on getting clubs to the competitors. It was about 2 weeks ago that I saw a few posts on the thread 'PING Custom Orders' and few commenters mentioned they finally rcvd their clubs (which made me irritable in not being more patient), with others stating that they're still waiting at 12+ weeks. I'm sorry, but that's just not good business ... 12+ weeks! With that said, on a whim I went to 2ndswing's website and to my luck, they had a set of the G425 from 5i thru PW, BUT with their AWT 2.0 shafts in stiff, and at just a + half inch over standard ... yet brand spanking new! Called a customer service rep to confirm what my eyes were seeing on the website, and once confirmed by a phone rep, the order was placed for next day delivery. On Christmas morning, or afternoon rather, the clubs arrived and I was off to the range. I will add that the rep stated 2ndswing will buy clubs directly from OEMs or big box store retailers and that generally they're clubs that were custom ordered, but then cxld down the line due to delivery taking so long. Haaa! NOW, with all of that out of the way ... and with several range sessions and a single solitary round of golf under my belt (a 93 with 5 pars, 3 triples and 29% fairways hit ), I'm both very pleased with these irons and excited to see where my game will be 3-6-9 and 12 months from now. Per The Grint, my current handicap is 13.6 (my handicap was inexplicably at 8 just 3 years ago) and ballooned to 17.3 as recently as March of this year for my previous irons, the Cobra F9 OneLengths, really affected my overall game. Initial impressions ... the ball flight with my scoring irons, is HIGH ... which is all the more crazy for the lofts on these irons are a bit on the strong side. It's one thing to see your ball flight on a launch monitor, but to see it in person is a whole different experience. With that said, I'm happy to have the AWT 2.0 shafts (which are also made my Nippon) for the Modus 105s would have had an even higher ball flight. The overall distance, is appreciatively further than my previous variable length irons in the TM M1s, which had the Modus 105 shafts. (To be fair, I did game Maltbys TS1s for about 2-3 months, but I won't be comparing them in this review) More initial impressions, the offset in the scoring irons from 8i thru PW is very nice to my eye and just the overall look behind the golf ball is just lovely. From the 7i on up to the 5i, the club head does get progressively larger as does its offset as well ... yet the back of the golf club and its deeper cavity-back is not visible at all while at address with the ball. The feel of the club, great ... the sound of the club, with its metal-wood variable thickness face, is fine by me. A couple of YouTubers have commented the sound not being to their liking, but for me, it's a non-issue. To me, the important areas in a golf club are looks behind the ball and overall feel during contact ... acoustic for me, would have more importance in the driver category. Forgiveness ... is hella impressive thus far. Like for many of us golfers, my usual misses are out on the toe, and man when I do catch one on the toe, the ball still flies on its intended line ... just slightly more to the right and with only a minimal loss of distance. And those misses are only giving more confidence to really get after the ball when I need to and to swing freely, without concern for misses on the toe for I know I won't be penalized too much. My round should've been much worst this past Sunday for I simply could not find the fairway with my driver or 3W, and these irons really did help me scramble around for some occasional 1 put pars. I'll leave it at that for now, but plan on adding more to this thread over time ... sharing with y'all my experiences and hopefully a shared journey to lower scores.

  8. WARNING: This is a somewhat lengthy post wherein I simply discuss some equipment changes and the reason behind them. I offer some data, but don't dive into launch monitor numbers or anything like that. I'm simply utilizing what knowledge I possess to make the game more enjoyable for myself and wanted to share my experience. Read on and comment if you'd like. I've been quite happy with my bag for some time now despite knowing that I've given up some distance and certain other luxuries. Finally, I decided it was time for a change and wanted to start with the driver. My Nike Vapor Pro w/ Aldila RIP a 60 shaft has been an absolute fairway finder compared to the drivers it replaced, but ball speed has always been a touch low. Having worked part-time at a golf course for 8 months gave me some time to demo a few clubs and I was impressed with the latest crop of Ping drivers. Of course, I don't have a ton of money to spend on equipment right now, but the pro had a Ping G LS Tec in 9* w/ Tour 65 Stiff shaft and sold it to me at his cost. I tried the G400 LST with the same shaft and it seemed like a real bomber so the G should be just as good. My mistake. My experiment with the Ping G failed miserably as it seemed to just spin too low and drop out of the air. During a test round where I alternated between my gamer and the G on each hole, the G found 1/7 (14%) fairways with a maximum total distance of 247 yards and an average of 232. Meanwhile, my Vapor managed 5/7 (57%) fairways with a max of 282 and an avg of 245. As it happens, slow play caused me to join up with a twosome on the 11th hole and one of the gentlemen offered to let me try his G25 after describing my experience with the G. I don't know what loft he handed me or what flex the shaft was - just that it was the stock TFC 189. It took one swing for me to realize that not only was the G a mistake, but my trusted Vapor as well. Fast forward a little bit and the G is gone - sold on eBay and shipped it off just today - and I have a 9.5* G25 sitting in my bag with the TFC 189 in stiff flex and an Aldila RIP a 60 to experiment with as well. I took the G25 out on Wednesday and played 18 - 9 holes with the TFC and 9 holes with the Aldila. Over 18 holes I managed 9/14 (64%) fairways with a max of 299 (off the very first tee in soft conditions) and an avg of 253. Looking at each shaft individually, I hit one more fairway with the Aldila than with the TFC, but average distance with the stock shaft was 266 yards vs. 241. More surprising to me was how incredible the TFC felt throughout the swing and at impact compared to the Aldila that I'm so fond of in my Vapor Pro. In keeping with the theme of mistakes I've made, I've never been satisfied with my Vapor Flex fairway wood and the Vapor Flex hybrid has been touch and go since day one. So, now on order is a Titleist 906F2 w/ Alidla NV 75 Stiff (best fairway I've ever owned and should not have gotten rid of) as well as a Titleist 585 hybrid w/ NV 85 (testing required but definitely prefer the feel over my Nike). To top it all off, i have finally decided to make the switch from Game Golf Live to Arccos 360. I've long held the position that I would never use Arccos as long as it required having my phone on me at all times, but I've grown tired of waiting for Game Golf to release the new "Pro" version or even release more details. Likewise, their user interface for both the app and the website have gotten long in the tooth. So that's it. Those are the changes I will be making and hopefully this is the setup I will continue to play until I can finally afford to get custom fit for a complete new set. Staying in the bag are my Vapor Pro Combo irons (4-PW), Vokey SM5 wedges (52, 56, 60), and my beloved Scotty Futura 6M. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed!
  9. Hey guys, Used to play in high school, very on and off since then (20plus years ago). I've played enough this year to get myself back to a 3 handicap. There are some clubs in the bag that were given to me by a tour pro and maybe I shouldn't be gaming them but they just look and feel great so I'm keeping them in the bag. I also do have a set of Miura CB501's (4-PW) that I'm currently not gaming. 10. Hello, I am trying to decide between the Titleist Premium Stand Bag 2020 and the Ping Hoofer Tour. Both bags are similar and inspired by the tour staff bags from my understanding. I really like the looks of them and I have tried to find reviews and pictures but can't seem to see enough actual/in-hand photos from people who have used these so I am seeking any insight/info anyone can share about them. I walk with a pushcart and take a cart occasionally. Thanks for any/all information ya'll can share!
  11. This topic csme up in another thread, but this excellent article by Marty Jertson of PING gives a great look as to what smash factor is and why it shouldn’t be the determining factor in buying clubs, especially irons. I found the part about the accuracy of club head speed eye opening! Smashing Smash Factor
  12. Shafts are 0.5 inch over standard. Great clubs but moving on. serial number AC30735
  13. Testers Wanted (4) Feel, while very subjective, is an important aspect of golf clubs for most golfers. Soft for one player is mushy for someone else, while firm to some can be considered harsh to others. For those firmly in the firm camp (yes, that was intentional), the PING Heppler may be for you. Offered in the same models as the flagship Sigma line, Heppler is a machined solid flat face that provides a firmer impact feel and sound. All this comes in a stunning black and copper finish that provide effective alignment cues. Want to be a Tester We’re looking for four golfers who are motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to providing a thorough review of the PING Heppler putters and sharing your thoughts and grades with the forum community. Testing is open to golfers in the US, Canada and UK. Reply to this thread with the following information (do not quote this post): First Name/City State/Country Current Putter in Use Check out all the models (see them here), and tell us which one interests you and why? Wondering which PING putter best fits your game? Try PING's online fitting tool! We'll be choosing the testers sometime next week, so check back and see if you've been chosen. Good Luck!
  14. Shankster and PING Blueprint Irons---A Match Made in Heaven? Every so often we do a special review of a club on MGS. Usually it's when the OEM provides us with one set or one driver etc for review, it's not practical to open it up to over 500 to 1,000 applications and pick just one person. So when the Blueprint review was generously offered by PING with the stipulation it went to a member who was a true low single digit handicap, we discussed as a group who would be an ideal member to reach out to test these beauties. Honestly at least half a dozen names came to mind, but some of them were already involved in a testing or had just completed one. Then one name really jumped out at us, Shankster. Not just because he fit the handicap requirement, but if there is any one person on this site who is a more of a traditionalist and prefers the minimalist design in a club than Alan, we don't know who it is. When we reached out to Shankster, it took him about 1 minute to say yes, and that's only because he was recovering from the shock of being asked and making sure he wasn't being punked! We had to work through the timing of his move from Michigan to Maryland, but all that got sorted out. Not knowing exactly when today he'll get his post up, I'll leave you with a few of these.
  15. I'm thinning the herd, and I've got 3 nice putters for sale. All come with headcovers. Ship only to CONUS, no trades please. 16. Sorry for the repost but for whatever reason posting from the App didn't work. This is a combo post of the two I tried earlier one of my clubs and of my custom head covers. One of my favorite golf drinks is Crown and 7up so it is safe to say I have a few of these beautiful bags laying around the house. I went to my grandma with an idea and I think they came out great. She is over 90 and up until last year she still played golf (she is a gin and tonic fan)
  17. If you guys have played this you know how sweet these things are. Im been looking for an after market shaft with a similar feel. Has this riddle been solved? Anyone play something similar along their travels?
  18. With divided bags being of countless variations, what do you all prefer? I have a mizuno Aerolite micro bag that i have been using for about 4 years. I would like to get a new 14 way bag because I am a meticulous person. But I figured I would ask since there is nothing else better to do with this quarantine.

  20. Here's my WITB 2020 COVID-19 season. What you think?
  21. New forum member. Looking forward to contributing! Finally have myself a proper full set. Used to be rolling with craigslist and ebay finds. Details are in the sig.
  22. Seeing heavy marketing for the 2nd gen CBX wedges from cleveland. Many other manufacturers have come out with models similar to these. I just don't see the cavity on a wedge doing much. Anyone have cavity back wedges or has given them a try? Are they worth the hype?
  23. Driver: Ping G400 SFT 9 degree, Alta R flex shaft. I also have the LST head but prefer the SFT. My miss is a slice and the SFT reduces it when it does happen. Irons: Ping G400 blue dot, 5-P. I like these irons but not head over heels about them. They feel great, sound great, relatively forgiving. Middle of the road price point new. 3 Wood: Cobra King LTD 3-4 Fairway. Adjustable. set to 15.5 degree, draw. My favorite club in the bag. Confident off the tee, fairway or rough. Hybrid 5: Cobra Baffler 5/R 26 degree. Next to the 3 wood this club gives me confidence galore. Wedges: Cleveland RTX 52/10. Ping Glide 54/SS. Cleveland RTX3 56/11. Ping Glide 58/SS. Yes, I carry 4. Putter: Odyssey O-works Tank 7 38" w/ Superstroke mid 2.0 grip
  24. Alright everyone, here's my WITB for 2020: Umbrella - I usually don't have it in the bag, but for these pics & the sketchy weather in the north east right now. Its in the bag. Driver - Callaway Epic Flash SZ - 9* - HZRDS Yellow 65x - I turn the head down 1* to 8* and move it to the D (Draw setting) Driving Iron - Ping G410 Crossover - 17* 2i - Alta CB 70x Irons - 4i - PW - Callaway X-Forged 18 - Project X 6.5 Shafts - 2*UP lie - "Standard" Callaway X-Forged lofts & lengths Wedges - Titleist Vokey SM7 - 50* - 54* - 60* - Standard L/L/L Putter - Taylormade TP Patina Series - Del Monte- 2* Loft - 70* Lie - 35" Ball - Bridgestone Tour BX - Flower mark on it, I haven't seen anyone else with that (that i play with) so its very easy to identify which ball is mine! I recently purchased some Srixon iron heads & some KBS $Taper 130x shafts, so i'm going to be giving those a whirl when the shafts come in! Pumped for the weather to start turning so we can get on the course more than once/wk! Also the putt out mat & putting trainer is awesome, def worth the investment, my putting has dramatically improved & my consistency is much better! I just purchased the mirror to take to the course and work on my putting stroke, looking forward to even more positive feedback!
