  1. So, new PXG driver spotted.PIC credit to golfWRX. Shape / from the top looks pretty epic IMHO. Thoughts?
  2. Has anyone taken advantage of the new PXG Gen1 offer? You can "get fitted" online and they will build you a custom set for $175 per club. A 4-W set would cost $1225. This is a pretty attractive price when you compare to the latest offerings from other club companies. The question is, is it worth the gamble? I went through their online fitting process several times changing the variables each time. Their algorithm consistently recommended their PXG-0311XF clubs. They also consistently recommended a shorter shaft (-1/2 inch) and a -1 degree lie. This all seems to make a lot of sense to me. The problem is, custom clubs are not returnable! You buy 'em, you own 'em. I'm looking at new Ping i700s and I'm being lured by this PXG deal. Anyone else looking into this offer? Burnsie
  3. Just got my PXG's Gen 2 delivered. Thought I would share some unboxing pics. Will be taking these out all weekend to play! *Edit: Added pics of the club heads on page 2.

  6. 500 rounds of golf is a hell of a lot for most people. Playing more/less once a week that's ~10 years of playing. PXG is a controversial brand. The price point is up there, and most people will never want to justify spending -a-driver-price- per iron. Anyway, I've been lucky enough to hit 500 rounds with the clubs and wanted to show how the super-soft steel holds up. Some clubs better than others Onto the pics:
  7. On the 8th of March a box arrived at my house with a new putter. I loved my original Gunboat, but the footprint of it was annoying me in the bag. It was annoying as hell. You can see it here how 'long' it was and it was popping out, and it was even more pronounced when using the cart bag. https://www.instagram.com/p/BPTSvTlhOwG/ But as I am in the end the Putting Pirate I was very reluctant to change my money maker. Those are the stats from my original that are a pretty good representation of its performance over 18 and 9 holes. It's a club I can definitely rely on together with my trusty 56 degree wedge that usually leaves me with a 3footer to the flag. Anyway. One bored evening, few too many whiskeys, yadi yada I have the gunboat mini. I actually changed my trusty grip to a fatso 2.0 from a scotty grip i loved but rest stayed the same. The first round we didn't really like each other that much leaving me with a nasty 3.0 GIR puts I mean 3 x 3putts was very annoying on the day, and if not the fact that Ive made 2 putts from the fringe and about 30 feet the putter would be swimming with the fishes by now. I decided to practice more, and give it another shot. And then another. And another. I played with the putter for about 20 rounds and actually my puts per hole declined by 0.09 but my GIR puts went up by 0.05. I mean those numbers are negligible in the big scheme of things, but hey Here they are after 20 rounds: The feel on both is insane, the ball rolls off the face like crazy so if you like that style of a putter - i haven't found a better one yet. A definite 5/5 from me. Any questions - ask
  8. I’ve not seen anyone review those anywhere on the net so I thought I’ll bite the bullet and do it myself. If you have any questions - just ask. As you know, with PXG price is a bit of an issue. Those will cost you £695-1100 in the UK per wedge. Whenever or not someone wants to pay it, afford it, sees value for money is up to the individual and I won’t be discussing it here. As long as you’re comfortable with being called a Sugar Daddy it’s a pretty nice looking head. You can see that there has been no expense spared in making of this club. The finish is much more matte than the 0311, the deep grooves on the bounce are reminiscent of a mix between white gold and Damascus steel. As far as I’m aware those are the _only_ 100% milled wedges, and the quality just shows. Anyway - I got it as a ‘lower’ bounce option for when I play courses with a lot of tight lies, and having played it for the first time yesterday… It does feel different. I didn’t have the time to check it out on my launch monitor but the ball has more spin. My ball bit the green and rolled back about 3 feet. It never happened to me before to get so much backspin. The feeling is a little bit more ‘solid’ than the previous PXG wedges. It’s super easy to open a little bit with the grind. The feel is so buttery soft. And it played awesome. I’ve hit pitch shots, lob shots and out of bunkers. It worked so well that if I was to choose - I’d keep the Sugar Daddy in 56 vs a 54 + 58 in the 0311. I play my 54 as 3/4 shot from 75y and the 56 was still spot on. On the short game practice area I’ve hit 20 balls from 70/50/20 yards over a bunker and most of my balls were dancing nicely on the green, with mostly being within 3 feet. My only problem with it, as with all the PXG clubs - they show use instantly. I mean instantly. They get dinged up, rust etc… but I guess thats what you have to deal with when you get such soft steel. And the difference in colour between the 0311 and 0311T wedge is annoying too, as I have the whole PXG bag and it just looks annoying to have 1 different wedge Anyway - as far as wedges go - those are brilliant and a solid **4.75/5**
  9. From today's Inbox -- a new video blog featuring PXG founder Bob Parsons and brand ambassador Paige Spirinac. In the first episode they tackle the elephant in the room -- why are PXG clubs so expensive? Thoughts?
  10. Selling a perfect set of 5-GW (7 total) Recoil F2 460 Series Iron Shafts .370 Parallel Tip professional pulled from a set of PXG 0311 irons. The F2 flex designation is Senior or "A" Flex. The grips are PXG branded Pure Pro grips and are almost brand new in condition. The 5 iron shaft measures 37.25" from grip cap to shaft tip. The Pure Grips have a grip cap that measures 1/4" so the graphite shaft will measure 37" without a grip. The 5 iron measured 38.25" when shafted. Each shaft decreases in length 1/2" (6 iron is 1/2" less than 5 iron shaft, etc). Specs from the UST website are listed below: Description Flex Weight Torque Launch Butt OD Tip OD Tip Parallel Length Recoil 460 F2 A 63g 5.2° High 0.596" 0.370" 5.5" 41" Description from the website: Finally, a revolutionary technology that will change how you think about iron shafts. UST Mamiya’s new recoil iron shafts are a game changer. In the past, heavy weight graphite iron shafts felt dead and stiff. With UST Mamiya’s exclusive recoil™ technology, we have brought feel back into the shaft, while allowing players to hit a wide range of shots that result in better distance control and pin seeking accuracy. By positioning over 19 different layers within the shaft, we were able to create a design that outperforms the best steel shafts in the market. I would be happy to provide pictures on request. Asking $215 shipped.
