  1. Just received my new fitted irons (5 thru SW) and haven't even hit them yet, but wanted to show them off. As for specs, they're 1 degree flat, 1 degree weaker loft, 1" longer than standard (38" 7 iron), and mid-sized grips (which I've never used on irons before). Hope they hit as good as they look!
  2. Has anyone compared the PXG 0811X driver to a SIM2? The 0811X is much cheaper than the SIM2, but does it perform as well?
  3. Got my new PXG 0811 X Prototype 9 degree yesterday!! Driving range session tonight. Do I like it? To quote DJ "Abso f$#%/ lutely!!" Distance: Played a Taylormade Burner for too long. Really think the face died on me. Dropped from 290's to 270's. Getting older but not that old. Back to 295ish tonight. I'll take it!! Control: Toed and/or heel hits came back to center mostly. Center face hits were solid feeling and sounding. Not sure if I can control shape yet as I want just hitting Wilson range balls. I could shape my draw (natural) and a fade most of the time. I am testing TP5 balls. Playing Thursday so we will see. Fitting: Atl studio. VERY THOROUGH. Ordering: Online at pxg.com. Used the PXG Troops discount. THANK YOU BOB!! Accessories: Head cover magnetized to "hang" on cart. Wrench to adjust head +/- 1.5 degrees loft AND the perimeter weights. This was an easy process. If you are a vet.... the discount is UH-mazing!! Find a studio and ORDER!!

    Ben Hogan

The Ben Hogan golf company and brand must be one of the most exciting prospects this decade to emerge from golf recently (I’m very fond of PXG too, but price point puts them out of reach for the average Joe). Just to confuse things, I game Mizuno and Titleist...
  5. Going for my first review here. Call this time zero. I recently was in search for new clubs that had a more player’s look to them compared to my TM Speedblades and went and got fitted. Fitter ended up fitting me into the PXG 0211s with KBS TOUR Stiff, which I hit beautifully at the fitting. Of interest, my speedblades were retrofit to me ( I bought a used set to upgrade from my 30 yr old hand me down) to XS FST 125 shafts and 3*up in lie. My fitter noted that the lie on my speedblades was actually still STD and that it still needs to be more upright based on my divot pattern. I did have some swing changes, but went I went to my prior fitter to test some players irons a month prior (didn’t buy at the time), he missed that I needed more adjusting and just told me to aim better. I didn’t realize it was a progressive set until I read more after the fitting, but I am ok with that. Some help at the top of the bag is nice. For those who don’t know, these are PXGs cast clubs for the peasants that can’t afford the screws. They still have the COR2 material and a thin face. To be honest, I like the no weight screw look better. Sadly, I didn’t get the joy of unboxing as my fitter checked lies, lofts and put Lamkin Sonar + midsize grips on them for me. One other issue I am having is I have asked my fitter twice for my specs so I can have them on record. All I get is radio silence. I guess it is time or a geometry lesson later. With the progressive set, there is more offset in the 4 iron, but at address it isn’t terrible. 5 on down looks great to the eye I am excited to get these on the course next week and see how they perform. 4I PW 5I 7I I will give an update after some rounds with these. Hope you enjoy.
  6. Looks like the new sticks are arriving Friday, just in time for a Saturday round. I will do a review over the next month or so. I was fitted for Gen 3, 0311P Irons, prototype hybrid and 7 Wood. I also got the 0811X Prototype driver. What can I say, the fitting went well. The prices were so good I couldn't stop with just the irons. If you are interested in hearing more about the clubs and the performance let me know. I'm happy to share more. I'll definitely post pics as well.
  7. One of the more popular iron categories of recent years. One company did very well in this, not surprisingly! https://mygolfspy.com/2021-most-wanted-players-distance-iron/

  11. Hope you enjoy this setup as much as I've enjoyed looking at some of yours - Cheers MGS! I'll start off with saying this is the first set of irons I've owned that aren't Mizuno and the first wedges that aren't Cleveland. I picked up the game about 15 years ago after I graduated college - finding a great set of Mizuno T-Zoids, GBB 4-wood, Driver, Cleveland wedges, and an old 1969 Ping hotdog putter at a garage sale for $20 with bag (I have all these clubs still - maybe I'll do a WITB with this set too). The lady that sold it to me told me that her husband just bought all new stuff and didn't need it anymore but he didn't know she was selling it. I have to assume he's never let her forget that - assuming he let her live. Fast forward 12 years through several used sets of Mizuno Irons, Celeveland wedges and revisions on all of these clubs I'm feeling great with every club in here, but feeling odd without the Mizuno irons in there. Long story short - Mixed bag, mixed feelings. I acquired the set of PXG's over the winter at a local shop for $400 and figured I couldn't pass them up. I did a shaft fitting and wow that makes all the difference. Right now the DG120S fit my game perfectly. Last year I went to a demo days, expecting to move from Cleveland to Callaway wedges (love the look), and somehow, after hours of hitting wedges walked away with Mizuno JPX919's. Still shocked because I had never considered Mizuno wedges, it was definitely not a brand name purchase - they were just the best for my swing. Same story with the Exotics 3W. Was expecting to walk away with a Rogue - but feel, sound, and launch monitor all agreed - Exoitcs it was. I stumbled into the Rogue driver after I got fit for the Epic a few years ago and had massive quality issues with it. Four Epic's later and one exploded crown, they sent me a Rogue and it's been fantastic. I think the most interesting club in my bag is my putter. I picked this up a few years into the game and haven't found better. I moved to the Spider last year and part of this year but had to come back to my Bobby Grace and it felt like coming home. I own 6 Bobby Grace putters, but the M5K-GT is the go to. Why Bobby Grace? I'm not sure... but it's been my thing. As a side note, I've always played Bridgestone balls, but this year decided to dedicate a year to ProV1 - it just seemed like I should probably play at least one season with the most popular ball in golf. I've been happy so far but am dying to give this years Bridgeys a couple rounds, too. 12. Any interest out there??? Asking $250 Specs: like new PXG 4 Hybrid - (probably has less than 50 swings - just didn't workout for me) Fujikura Pro 2.0 8-S Hybrid shaft Lamkin PXG Grip PXG Leather Cover
  13. With divided bags being of countless variations, what do you all prefer? I have a mizuno Aerolite micro bag that i have been using for about 4 years. I would like to get a new 14 way bag because I am a meticulous person. But I figured I would ask since there is nothing else better to do with this quarantine.
  14. Selling a perfect set of 5-GW (7 total) Recoil F2 460 Series Iron Shafts .370 Parallel Tip professional pulled from a set of PXG 0311 irons. The F2 flex designation is Senior or "A" Flex. The grips are PXG branded Pure Pro grips and are almost brand new in condition. The 5 iron shaft measures 37.25" from grip cap to shaft tip. The Pure Grips have a grip cap that measures 1/4" so the graphite shaft will measure 37" without a grip. The 5 iron measured 38.25" when shafted. Each shaft decreases in length 1/2" (6 iron is 1/2" less than 5 iron shaft, etc). Specs from the UST website are listed below: Description Flex Weight Torque Launch Butt OD Tip OD Tip Parallel Length Recoil 460 F2 A 63g 5.2° High 0.596" 0.370" 5.5" 41" Description from the website: Finally, a revolutionary technology that will change how you think about iron shafts. UST Mamiya's new recoil iron shafts are a game changer. In the past, heavy weight graphite iron shafts felt dead and stiff. With UST Mamiya's exclusive recoil™ technology, we have brought feel back into the shaft, while allowing players to hit a wide range of shots that result in better distance control and pin seeking accuracy. By positioning over 19 different layers within the shaft, we were able to create a design that outperforms the best steel shafts in the market. I would be happy to provide pictures on request. SOLD

  18. Last August I picked up a new PXG Brandon putter in a black finish and overall I have felt just so-so when putting with it. I am a 1.8 handicap and came from a very old Scotty Cameron Newport 2 that I had liked and been happy with it for many years. I went to PXG for a softer feel off the putter face as well as just a change when I am looking over the putter. After doing some tests with both the PXG and the Scotty Cameron here were my results... Looks: In terms of looks both look relatively the same with the PXG have a slightly shorter hosel than that of the Scotty Cameron. I have enjoyed the PXG's screw design and it adds a nice touch as well as seems to be an interesting weight design that PXG is known for. However, the screws on the top could be a distraction if you are used to a normal style blade putter. However, PXG has removed the screws from the top in their new Brandon Gen 2. Performance from the fringe: After testing both putters from 30 feet off the green I felt like the PXG performed better from the fringe and was much softer at impact whereas the Scotty felt a little bit firmer from this length. Overall both were not uncomfortable to put with. Performance from 5 feet: This is where I started to have an interesting time with the PXG. While putting off the green and not feeling as much of an impact was nice inside 5 feet I had a hard time judging how much speed to give it as the PXG was very soft and almost felt like air when putting at these distances. Downhill puts were very hard as it felt like I wasn't even putting the ball and would blow it by the hole. Price and Value In terms of price I would say $499 for the PXG seems a bit excessive. While I fully understand they are luxury golf company, spending $499 just seems to be a bit much for one club in the bag. However, if you like a softer feel I would completely recommend the PXG. Score (1-10): PXG= 7.5 Scotty Cameron= 8.5 https://www.pxg.com/en-us/clubs/putters/brandon
  19. So, had a chance to play them for the past month or so. When I brought it back to the UK with me I went playing at a links course (Burnham & Berrow) and drove a 288 par 4 into 45mph wind (and yes I have it on video - a loooong drive :) , also have the missed eagle put;) ). It was obvious the club stays in the bag. As much as I liked their hybrids before, the woods were a bit of a sore point with the gen1 either not sounding / feeling great, this one is a winner. I may not be the most impartial here, but I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'll play anything that can lower my scores. And I believe that trio can't hurt. https://www.instagram.com/p/BsIf4mkgn9A/ And oh my they look good at address If you have any questions - shoot!

  22. So, new PXG driver spotted.PIC credit to golfWRX. Shape / from the top looks pretty epic IMHO. Thoughts?
  23. Has anyone taken advantage of the new PXG Gen1 offer? You can "get fitted" online and they will build you a custom set for $175 per club. A 4-W set would cost $1225. This is a pretty attractive price when you compare to the latest offerings from other club companies. The question is, is it worth the gamble? I went through their online fitting process several times changing the variables each time. Their algorithm consistently recommended their PXG-0311XF clubs. They also consistently recommended a shorter shaft (-1/2 inch) and a -1 degree lie. This all seems to make a lot of sense to me. The problem is, custom clubs are not returnable! You buy 'em, you own 'em. I'm looking at new Ping i700s and I'm being lured by this PXG deal. Anyone else looking into this offer? Burnsie
  24. Just got my PXG's Gen 2 delivered. Thought I would share some unboxing pics. Will be taking these out all weekend to play! *Edit: Added pics of the club heads on page 2.
  25. Soooo wasn't expecting the delivery as it's 3 weeks before the official launch I believe it's first set that made it to retail, or one of the. First set in Europe for sure. I will be testing them starting in about 2 hours, and will just post a few pictures :-D https://www.instagram.com/p/Bg56jjwhDSp/?taken-by=puttingpirate
