  1. Hi Everyone, I'm stuck here in Minnesota where it has been unbearably hot or thunderstorming, so I thought I would do a review of two balls relatively new to the market. I have chosen the new Titleist AVX and Vice Pro because I've been looking for a ball with low-spin off of my longer clubs but that also retains spin from the mid-irons down to chips. Also, I'm a sucker for how the dimple-pattern on the AVX looks AND for how sleek Vice's logo is. As you will see, the review consists of a variety of different shots that were tracked using FlightScope Mevo: 1. 10-yard Bump-and-Run (Closed-face 54* SW) 2. 10-yard Chip (60* LW) 3. 50-yard Pitch (60* LW) 4. Full 60* Lob Wedge 5. Full 7-Iron 6. Full 3-Wood (I know that the typical "driver" component is missing, but I haven't included it because I don't usually hit driver and instead use my 3-wood off of the tee. I hope this doesn't ruin the test for anyone!) So, without further ado, here are the head-to-head results for each ball (I hit many shots with each ball and only chose shots that that represented good/typical swings): 10-Yard Bump-and-Run AVX: Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne Vice Pro: 10-Yard Chip Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne AVX: Vice Pro: 50-Yard Pitch Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne AVX: Vice Pro: Full Lob Wedge Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne AVX: Vice Pro: 7-Iron Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne AVX: Vice Pro: 3-Wood Ball Speed Carry Launch Angle Spin Height Time Airborne AVX: Vice Pro: Conclusions: Wow, what a similar ball! I really wasn't expecting so much overlap. There are a few stand-out statistics to me, though: 1. The two balls are basically identical on green-side chips. 2. The AVX launches consistently higher than the Vice Pro (except for the full LW). 3. The distance on full shots is generally comparable. 4. The Vice Pro spins a few-hundred rpm's more with the lob wedge, but a few hundred rpm's less with the 7-iron. 5. The Vice Pro carries farther with a more penetrating trajectory and less spin with the 3-wood.

    Ben Hogan

The Ben Hogan golf company and brand must be one of the most exciting prospects this decade to emerge from golf recently (I’m very fond of PXG too, but price point puts them out of reach for the average Joe). Just to confuse things, I game Mizuno and Titleist...
  3. Oh yes! The number one golf ball on tour is the number one ball for a very good reason, despite the marketing $

  9. The MP-20 SEL is a phenomenal set. I decided to get my first fitting after playing for about 7 years. I tried 6 brands and landed on the set I thought I had no business trying. I had no intentions of trying any blades but it felt just like everyone says about Mizuno, and they are quite forgiving! (except that damn 5 iron... I wish that was an HMB like the 3 & 4 irons). I also can't say enough things about the fitting experience at 2ndSwing in Philadelphia. I've had uninspired trips like everyone at Golf Galaxy & Dick's, but I get better service each time I walk through their doors. They have better prices on the new stuff too! I got a TS3 driver and 3wood, a jumble of different vokeys, and a Ping putter all "used" from 2ndSwing. Not even the pros there could tell if they were hit at all. Last thing - I got a free sleeve of the new Mizuno balls with my irons, don't waste your time! They feel like old school NXT Tour S balls but with a less durable cover
  10. Almost a total remodel of the bag. Epic Flash SZ 10.5 set at -1 N Graphite Design Tour AD TSG Blue X (45") M3 15 set at -2 Paderson Fairway KG 860-F30 S Epic Flash SZ 18 set at S N Tensei AV Blue 70 X Z585 4 & 5 KBS C Taper S Z785 6-AW KBS C Taper S Glide Forged 56 KBS Hi Rev 2.0 Glide Forged 60 KBS Hi Rev 2.0 SS 28 CS 33" Driver: Thank you MGS, flat out the best driver I have ever had in the bag. 3W: A random purchase after being unable to hit the original epic 3w. Put same shaft that I was fit for in the epic and it has been a match made in heaven. Absolute money from the tee and I know exactly what it will do from the fairway. Combined with the driver there are not many par 5's that I can't reach. 5W: Solid club but this spot has always been a trouble spot in my bag and that hasn't changed in 20 years. Irons: Love the combo and they feel absolutely amazing. All of them are 1* strong, standard lie and +1/2" Biggest thing I was looking for in making the change was more control. They definitely fly different than P790's but hopefully after an adjustment period they will meet or exceed my expectations. Wedges: A different look from what I am used to but feel is amazing. The shaft on full swings is so easy for me to deliver correctly. Putter: Not a fast revolving door but one that moves some. Have gotten used to the look of the center shaft but still struggling with alignment some. Ball: Titleist PROV1X #23 imprinted with THEZIPR in blue. Have played this ball since its birth and while I have tried many other options nothing has been able to kick it out. Rangefinder: Bushnell PRO X2 Glove: Footjoy Weathersof. Love the Ping tour glove but at the rate I go through gloves I just can't justify the price difference. Shoes: Ecco Biom G 3 BOA and Biom Hybrid 3 BOA. Most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.
  11. Howdy! Looking forward to my fitting next week for the new T-Series irons. Currently gaming 7-9 AP2 and 5-6 AP3 and a 4 in the TMB. Titleist usually gives their fitters a sheet with blend suggestions (and even loft adjustments recommendations). Has anyone seen this sheet yet? Has anyone been fitted for a blended set? If so, what is your setup? Thanks!
  12. Not really loving these...
  13. In my carry bag: Driver: HyperX 9 degree extra stiff Irons: 3-PW s55 custom fit Wedges: vokey 56, 60, 64 Putter: Rosie 2 Balls: ProV1x
  14. I look at the bags of people I play with and think, wow! I seriously need to sort my kit out! Don't get me wrong, I do like my irons (Mizuno MP30 3-PW), but I am sure that being so old and so well used, they are not helping my game much anymore. My bag is okay, but my trolley - OMG! - It's one of those old Titleist square tube fold-up jobbies haha! I have a mixture of wedges and these too are old (apart from my Callaway 56 degree) and my woods are also quite ancient when it comes to comparing against the adjustable modern drivers of the last few years or so! Driver sounds like a frying pan! I love the look and feel of the new Taylormade P-Series irons and Titleist have always been a firm favourite in terms of both look and feel. I've also hit a few shots on the range with the Mizuno MP4 - wow such a sexy looking set of sticks!! I'd love to just get myself fitted and start a new chapter in my golfing career, but fallen on hard times and although on an upward curve now, this is not likely to happen for some time. Would be nice to be a test subject, I reckon! #Taylormade #Titleist #Mizuno #Callaway #Ping - I'll Be Your Guinea Pig if you need normal people to test your clubs. I would blog and brag all day about your brand - I'm active in many groups and follow so many blogs, I have also just started to get a decent following on my FB Fan Page and building a group - https://www.facebook.com/SunsetSafarisGolf/#- https://www.facebook.com/groups/SunsetAfricanSafariandGolf/ I play off 8, have been as low as 3, so please pick me !
  15. Well fellow Spys, it's time for a little spring cleaning. All items are OBO and willing to negotiate. Not trying to get rich, just make it fair. I've been buying and selling on eBay for a long time (ID=pgcsf). I know what things are worth, I keep items in best condition possible and I have great feedback. As for shipping, smaller items are most likely free. Everything else, we will decide best option together and I'd prefer to split cost 50/50. I usually use USPS priority and it's almost always reasonable. Any thoughts/questions we'll work it out. Will ship within 48hrs of received payment. I try very hard to describe all items as accurately as possible. I take great care of my equipment and have no problem passing it on to others to enjoy. Anything, please ask. Please DM me Oudefart and I'll happily include more pics for any specific item. Thanks. I will do my best to honor correspondence in order received. I reserve the right to end any discussion/agreement should it get nasty (it happens, at least on eBay). Finally, I request all transactions via PayPal. I'd prefer using Friends/Family option to avoid an fees. Thanks. Here's the list: - OBAN Kiyoshi Black shaft for driver. 04 flex (stiff) 75g. Depending on head, finished club should measure roughly 44.5" $125 OBO - Leupold GX-1 rangerfinder. VERY lightly used as I bought one with slope shortly after getting this. $115 OBO - Titliest 915F 15° 3W, Diamana Blue Board 72g Stiff. Shaft is brand new, never used it with this head. Club in great condition. Headcover included $140 OBO - Nike B1-01 Converge Counterflex putter. 38" Basically new, owned about 6wks, played 2x. Headcover & tools included $90 OBO - Titliest Sunday "pencil" bag, black. VERY lightly used , maybe 6x - Hogan Apex Plus iron set. Collectors dream. These are brand new, never used. PW has a couple shots on it. Make serious offer - Callaway Sunday "pencil" bag, black. VERY lightly used , maybe 6x $45 OBO - Odyssey putter. Brand new in package. $15 (free shipping) - Hogan Apex Plus iron set. Collectors dream. These are brand new, never used. PW has a couple shots on it. Not from me, most likely the person I inherited them from. Make serious offer - Miura CB-202 heads (4-PW). These are in great condition, LOTS of life left in them. They have expected bag chatter, however I always us iron covers on them when playing. Additionally, I have a set of True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 shafts I'll include. Or, I can build them for you. I build them to Miura stated specs. $800 OBO 4 iron - (shows least wear) PW - (shows most wear)
