Tom the Golf Nut checking in for yet another great testing opportunity. Thanks MGS
I am pretty much a self-taught golfer and have been playing for thirty two years. I did take some group lessons when I first started but after that I was just a research and mimic type, compare my swing to golf magazine images, and watch Harvey Penick videos and such. One of my favorite quotes of his is “Golf tips are like aspirin. One may do you good, but if you swallow the whole bottle you will be lucky to survive.”
My handicap is currently at 1.1 and I will admit my handicap going down consistently over the last few years has been by being motivated by the testing. i have gained focus. Thanks to MGS for this too.
My swing tempo is smooth with an average driver swing speed of 96 mph.
I play in the North East Tennessee at the base of the Smokey Mountains. Courses are generally very hilly and sometimes a little more than that!
My average ball flight is straight with a middle flight trajectory. The ball will usually land and stop in place from about 140 yards and in. I'm not a back spinner! I'm also ok with a slight amount of roll out.
My strengths are driving the ball in the fairway, chipping, pitching and putting.
I have been playing Sub 70 699 Pro irons since last August and using a Ping G400 Driver, TaylorMade 3 and 5 woods from the SLDR vintage.
What do I expect from a ball, well that's pretty simple. I look for a good mid flight trajectory, I want the ball to stop on the green, I like a softer feeling ball around 80 compression, and I do not like a ball with that clicky sound.
So what do I want to accomplish during this testing? Well, the claims are that it should be a good mid-priced ball. Will these balls deliver good distance and control? Will they hold up under normal playing conditions? I will try to compare these to a few other mid priced balls of the same cover material. Who knows these might be a good surprise in the end.
