We’re up over 4,000 applicants with 2 days left until entries close. I think @Apolloshowlguestimate of 5000 might need amending. We might be there by the end of day! Hopefully all these applicants decide to stick around the forum moving forward.

Probably... But at the beginning many of us thought 5000 was a lot! The MGS team is doing a great job spreading the word. Would love to see more intros from the new members too.

Yeah, I feel like there were a ridiculous number of applicants last year as well. Good to see MGS has active followers on social media! The content produced by the site is awesome as always.

I wish I could afford that TAG Heuer!

The wedges intrigue me as well. I recall a recent article about wedge selection. Should you use a set PW or a speciality wedge. I’d be interested to see what the numbers show. I like my current wedges, but definitely don’t hit them as well with full shots as I’d like to. I think the swingweight between them and my set irons is too different and it causes me to get steep. I’d love to see how the snake bite wedges blend into a set of MIM irons. Or do the MIM wedges fit the bag better? I haven’t hit either yet, it would be awesome to find out which works the best.

I think one of the more fun things about Cobra that often is not talked about enough (outside of this forum, obviously) is the amazing shaft offerings they have. I’m really intrigued how the new project X RDX stack up against the Ventus. I have yet to hit either, so it’d be awesome to try them both head to head to see who comes out on top. Perhaps there’s another shaft that works better? I’m in need of a very stable shaft, that helps me deliver the head consistently.

Fittings are so much fun, but they cost too much money. Both in the upfront cost, the cost of clubs, and the “you got new clubs again?!” at home cost. It seems like new shoes arrive at the house all the time, is there really a difference?

1.  Set wedge vs Specialty wedge is an interesting area.  I really enjoy using the 52* specialty wedge vs my old AP2 gap wedge.  It looks and feels better to me on shots close around the green, which also makes me use it more around the green.  No hard data, but it feels softer and less hot on those touch shots which makes me feel like I have more control.  I think TXG did a good video of set vs specialty wedges last year.

2.  Cobra does an amazing job with its shaft options.  When I hit mark's RDX blue it felt stiffer in the handle, but it was a TX version.  Seems like they should perform comparably though.  FWIW Cobra's upcharge options also seem to be a better deal than some other OEM's too.

3.  You're right about that.  And since the hybrid is bonded and not adjustable trying it out becomes even more difficult.  Considering how I don't use it a ton I'm not sure it's worth the cost or effort.  But I'll go hit anything I can and see if I can draw any conclusions from those.

For those of you lucky enough to be selected, this is not just about you playing golf for A summer and getting a free set of clubs. this is about you representing the greatest golf community online, an incredible Golf Company, as well as your family and friends..

As any of the Alumni will attest, your friends and family get invested also. My wife was asking what the competitions were weekly, when was i going to play.. Did I get my posts in Hell she almost got into it more than I did.. Friends were making tee times and calling to see if I was able to play, as well as Making sure I played well..

And everybody at Cobra Golf, and Arccos, are top notch. They trust us to be honest reliable and open about their products, Good or bad.. Enjoy the adventure, and get ready for the torture.. 🤣

If selected my wife will be helping me write lol. Shes a much better descriptor than I....I paint the picture she puts the finishing touches on it (she has been aghast at some of my work emails....)

That is certainly the challenge with wedges. I want to have that touch for around the green, but I also hit my 50* 130 so I need it for full swing shots. I've been working on hitting scoring irons shorter so they're more consistent, but sometimes I pure them with what feels like a soft swing and the ball waves at the green as it flies well over.

Side note, I miss Matt of TXG. Really hope he's getting the help he needs to get through the struggles he is dealing with. He and Ian play off one another so well, I miss it.

My fiancé (who will be my wife exactly two months from today! WEDDING GIFT!!!) will for sure get involved if I am selected. She has started playing golf with me, and loves how passionate I am about the sport. Her dad just retired and plays golf as well, so I'm sure she will be egging him on to get out on the course with me a bunch.

One of my good golf friends runs a video company, so I may have to drag him in and see if I can get him to do some video editing. It'd be fun to have some quality videos to get the social media side more involved. I'll do my best to make Rick Shiels look like a has-been!

I'm sure my golf team will want to get into it too. They're way better at golf than me, and thoroughly enjoy reminding me. We are working on an indoor golf facility, so it'd also be fun to get on the foresight and really dig into the numbers. Once summer hits I will play a TON, so I'm amped about the prospect of playing in the morning, writing in the afternoon. I'm super passionate about the equipment side of the golf industry, so that'd be a ton of fun to dig into.

I rarely watch the live streams, as I am usually working. Thankfully, my students are working on practice essays right now so I am able to get a lot of forum time in! To them, it all sounds like a lot of keyboard work haha.

Last year I was pretty excited about this but was still earning my place as regular member and had just made the big decision to be a donor to this great organization. But now a year later I am even more excited because Cobra, for me, has escalated themselves to the top when it comes to producing stellar equipment from top to bottom. I have always been a Mizuno fan but will put anything in the bag as long as it performs how I want it to. Everyone's favorite fantasy to think about is if they were on Tour, which company would they go with for all of their equipment and for the first time I can honestly say Cobra without hesitation. I mean have you gamed their gear in the last few years? Whoever the lucky six are will be in for an absolute treat! The clubs are all easy distance and are forgiving and if the MIM are as awesome as everyone says then those irons are calling my name! Best of luck to everyone that is chosen!

Excellent idea!  Always good to have two sets of eyes on it, or in your case, your own editor 🙂

Maybe there's no wheelies, tail whips, or Cru Jones in their marketing, but their gear and staff are in fact RAD.  🙂  AND they perform.  All the cobra stuff I've owned has been excellent.  My wife's bag is now all Cobra and she loves the bag of snakes.  I've been itching to try out the new drivers, and the copper irons look amazing. (though, I selected RADspeed for the irons, because I want to WIN 😉 )

I've been thinking about how I could create good content too - my wife has absolutely zero interest in golfing, but I primarily golf with my brothers, one of whom is a photographer and drone pilot, so I feel like I could create some really cool content with him. If I gave him my old iron set he would for sure be willing to put together some really good video content for me.

Getting the drone involved would be awesome! Just don't pull a Tiger and break the drone.

I was a "King Cobra" guy back in the 80's and 90's!  Longest irons I have ever played. (Of course I WAS in my 30's back then!!) The driver was my first metal wood. Used to bomb it!

This is a crazy amount of sign-ups, and still climbing!  At least with the new test application system the mods don't have to sort through the thread...last year's thread seemed to have a meme for every 3-4 applicants!

What is everyone most interested in? One length, rad speed, mim or the new wedges?

Gotta say, I am very interested in the MIMs.  I am also interested if someone were to prefer a driving iron to a 3w if that would be accommodated.  As someone who hits his fairway woods like poo I would be interested to see how the cobra utility irons would perform.

Before going into this thought I should state that Cobra is absolutely phenomenal for providing the forum with this opportunity for a single year let alone 5! Hats off to them....
Now could you imagine having CC expanded and include other OEM's and have teams from different OEM's competing against each other. Yes it would need to be arccos based OEM's so ping and there is another isn't there? Either way... or maybe even better have another OEM or 2 put on something similar to CCChallenge, but at other parts in the season and have a year end faceoff between the winners!

Patiently waiting to see if anyone has anything to say about this. . . This would be a really awesome idea.
