COBRA CONNECT 5

Cobra Connect 5 Challenge partnered with Arccos, all participants receive a 13 club Cobra bag and will take part in various challenges.  To broaden the reach of the line, the competition will consist of four Radspeed sets of clubs as well as  two King Tour MIM sets! The full bag includes a players choice of:

  • Driver
  • Hybrids/FW
  • Irons-either Radspeed or King Tour MIM (must choose one on your entry)
  • Wedges
  • Cobra Ultralite Stand Bag

This years event will be a team format, with 3 players on each team.  There be weekly or bi weekly challenges for teams and/or individual challenges.

Prizes will be awarded for each challenge and for the overall winners.

Team Captains

We also have a fun addition in adding team Captains, but not just any Team Captains.

Team Chad-Chad DeHart - Manager, Product & Innovation @ Cobra Golf

Team Yags-Mike Yagley - VP, Innovation/AI @ Cobra Golf

Both Chad and Yags will be following the competition closely, and may or may not have a side bet or two between them on the results.

And don't be surprised if depending on circumstances and availability, the Captains may jump in with their respective teams one week for the competition.

From a spectator perspective, I’m most interested in the fairway and hybrid.

The fairway because of the inclusion of the infinity face, which I still need to go try. And the Hybrid because I love the rails for skimming through the sole but the Speedzone has a bit more left bias in it than I’d prefer.

Outside of that I’m looking forward to seeing what the challenges are and how the team aspect works!

I’m really interested in the MIM irons and the new snakebite wedges. I’m a sucker for full face grooves but I don’t normally play the lofts that most oem’s offer them in. If selected I see a 56* full face versitale grind  snakebite wedge bent 2* strong being my go to wedge and a 58* wide for the sand.

Other than equipment, the team aspect is really intriguing and can wait to see how it all plays out.

Yea I think its the MIM irons for me as well. I love the infinity face and IMO is the best drive face out there right now so rolling it to the fairways and the hybrid rails are cool as well. But the MIM irons are extremely intriguing.

It would appear a lot of us are interested in the MIM over the radspeed. I hit them when they first came out, they’re awesome irons. Soft feel, forgiving, still controllable...very nice. Certainly going to make it more difficult to get selected when there’s only two sets being provided!

I’m very interested in the woods though. That’s the oldest part of my bag, and I need to become more consistent off the tee. When I’m hitting fairways my scores are way lower (shocking revelation, I know) and a lot of the courses I play are draw biased. My miss with the woods is right, which often leaves me scrambling. If chosen, I’m looking forward to finding a combination that helps keep me in the short stuff off the tee so I can get some more greens and get the handicap into single digits.

Are you confident off the deck with a fairway wood? What about hybrids? Are you confident going at a green at a distance if reachable with a fairway? Those rails on the hybrids seem like they could be a really good green chaser......🤤

I would love a chance to test the MIM irons against my new MP-20 HMBs. Want to see how also the Radspeed driver will compare to my SpeedZone. If I can get over 300 yards instead of 280-290 I would love it.  Not giving my Bobby Grace putter up though.

The fairway off the deck is the shot with a wood I’m most confident with. I have a Cobra F9, it’s treated me really well going into long par 5s.

I love the hybrid, but I end up hitting it roughly the same distance as my 3 wood so the gapping isn’t great. I also have the occasional hook, which is frustrating. I don’t hit the 4 iron super consistent though, so I’m debating a change at the top of the bag. Perhaps 3 wood, 5 wood, hybrid? Two hybrids? I’ve tried driving irons and I’m not as big a fan as that of woods and hybrids.

This is awesome!! Would love to game these, I could test how to hit a ball in the water with the best of them.

For me it's a bit of everything. Even though I would want to test and use the king tour irons, the one length has always intrigued me.

The hybrids and driver are two other parts as I use a older driver and don't have hybrids so those will be ones to follow closely and finally i love love my ping wedges but have used trusty rusty a lot and worked well with them so the new snake bites are certainly ones to keep a watch for.

Even the bag I'll be curious to see how testers find them because I only have a cart bag and am looking for a new stand bag.

The 3 wood is likely the least for me. I love my F7 and it's the oldest Club in my bag and when I tried for it was about the same. That being said there is likely a big forgiveness improvement I could see... It's all very excited and regardless of who is chosen and what they end up using I'll be watching and following along closely.

MIM Tour irons and the wedges personally.  The hybrids...I’m sure they are great off the turf but I’m wondering about excessive draw bias...?

I do think my setup would be diff than most though. I have been toying with the idea of going Driver, 3 Wood(big tour), 2-Hybrid, 4-Hybrid, 5-PW, 50*, 56*(bent to 54*), and 58*.

I thought about going this direction with my current setup but I hit my 5 wood so darn well that I can’t let it go lol

The rails on the hybrid ARE the reason the Speedzone is still in the bag even though I fight to make it go right a bit.  It's the best feeling hybrid through the ground (and the fairway for that matter) that I've hit.  As someone who can come in steep, it's awesome.  If you're a sweeper maybe it's not that big of a difference.

Now I'm wondering if maybe I should just try a stiffer shaft in the Speedzone since I can't bend it flat a degree or two.

Yes surprsingly for me fairway off the deck is a pretty consistent club for me, I feel like once you get past the fear of covering that distance and going at the green you can really attack. Confidence is key though IMO (club could do that!)

Ive been really racking my brain on setup, I have always preferred more irons in my bag but those hybrids are yelling at me.

I want Yag's on team.  VP's say they work a lot but their meetings are just Golf Outings.

I prefer the irons as well, but I’m trying to not go off ego or look and just play what gets me the best results. When I pure my 4 iron few things feel as good, but the consistency between hitting it well and like garbage is way too big of a gap. I can mishit a hybrid and it’s at least still up around the green. The rails definitely help make it more chunk proof. Though I’ve managed to prove nothing is completely chunk proof. I do find I hit my 5 iron well though, so I definitely would keep 5-PW in the bag.

The wedges intrigue me as well. I recall a recent article about wedge selection. Should you use a set PW or a speciality wedge. I’d be interested to see what the numbers show. I like my current wedges, but definitely don’t hit them as well with full shots as I’d like to. I think the swingweight between them and my set irons is too different and it causes me to get steep. I’d love to see how the snake bite wedges blend into a set of MIM irons. Or do the MIM wedges fit the bag better? I haven’t hit either yet, it would be awesome to find out which works the best.

I think one of the more fun things about Cobra that often is not talked about enough (outside of this forum, obviously) is the amazing shaft offerings they have. I’m really intrigued how the new project X RDX stack up against the Ventus. I have yet to hit either, so it’d be awesome to try them both head to head to see who comes out on top. Perhaps there’s another shaft that works better? I’m in need of a very stable shaft, that helps me deliver the head consistently.

Perhaps the new ventus hybrid shaft? I recall you saying you have ventus in the driver.

6x blue in driver, 8s blue in fairway... It's been a thought before!  We'll see.  When I was fit back at True Spec the Ping G410 4-hybrid was going great for me with the current shaft I'm using (KBS Tour Hybrid Proto) with that flat setting.  I might have to go back for a hybrid fitting somewhere I can try a whole bunch of shafts.

Fittings are so much fun, but they cost too much money. Both in the upfront cost, the cost of clubs, and the “you got new clubs again?!” at home cost. It seems like new shoes arrive at the house all the time, is there really a difference?

Well we know who @Wedgieis voting for on that last matchup... speaking of which, isn’t about time he shows up and throws some venom around?  Or maybe he’s waiting until he knows who the competitors are?

I didn't even know this was going on but now that I do I'll begin to chime in. We should get some side action going on who will be picked or at least who will be the most poking fun at if they get picked.

We’re up over 4,000 applicants with 2 days left until entries close. I think @Apolloshowlguestimate of 5000 might need amending. We might be there by the end of day! Hopefully all these applicants decide to stick around the forum moving forward.
