Ever wanted to be a part of the data MyGolfSpy collects over the course of the season? Welcome to Testers Wanted, where we recruit readers like you for objective feedback on products that roll into HQ throughout the year!

You can say a lot of things about L.A.B. Putters but you certainly can’t say they’re boring. Or conventional. Or even unoriginal. Even the owner calls them "absurd."

Leveraging an approach called "lie angle balancing" (hence L.A.B. Golf) the brand feels it has a technology to help you make more putts.

That said, we need testers like you to assess, and report back to us here at MyGolfSpy!

Important: Each tester will be required to submit a fitting video per L.A.B.'s fitting process and be prepared to provide as much detailed feedback as possible

Can I ask though - when you say it doesn't fit in your bag, do you mean it LITERALLY doesn't fit because head is too big?  Lol. Do I need to get a new bag?  A Sunday bag just to carry the putter? Maybe some kind of samurai sword-holder slung over my back to holster it?

I have a 14 slot bag and it fits but extends over the edges of the bag and makes it a little crowded.

Cool post - love to see that the Big Boy Lab (as it shall forever be known) does what it's supposed to, especially with a no-look stroke (I've recently switched to this "pick a point and focus on that" and have had such better speed control/consistency).  I'm super excited to see what model I end up getting to test (okay with either BBL or Mezz.1, preference-wise, as I've played a mallet for years), and how it fits me and I fit it.  And then hit a billion putts until we figure each other out (Retief Goosen's quote: "a putter needs to become your second wife") 🙂

Literally. As I was attempting to find a place for it in my bag images of the Star Ship Enterprise and waffle irons kept floating through my mind. I hit a few putts with one again today  at the PGA store, and it went very well. Definitely going in my bag eventually. imo, the mezz and the blade are good putters, but nowhere near the DF for me in terms of stability or confidence.

What a weekend!  Only just saw this and I am floored, and honored and now the responsibility is again mine to give fellow MGSpies the test and review worth reading 👍

Won't use this as opportunity to promote my golf club (worlds greatest (one) without the course in my signature) but it was our first meeting of members at French Lick Resort in Indiana and I was on Friday playing the 9-hole Valley Links Course (hence not seeing the notice), on Saturday playing the Donald Ross Course with club dinner afterward, and on Sunday playing the Pete Dye Course before starting the drive home to Western NY.  Having just arrived home this morning from the drive complete with total lunar eclipse, thunderstorms, and construction season in full bloom I only just had opportunity to login to catch up on the forums.  So here it is, Monday facing the most exciting testing I have been chosen to participate in, and if you are going to be at the Queenstown Harbor GC on Saturday August 6 you will get a chance to see the test in progress!

Thanks again to MGS and the sponsor L.A.B. Golf for this opportunity, time to get to work to feel worthy ⛳

Sounds like you had a truly terrible weekend, lol. Congrats and welcome to the test!

I had to double check your profile to see where you were from. Chicago District Golf Association sent out an email about a member meetup at French Lick recently - looks like the resort is trying to draw people in from all over! Always fun to be in the land of Larry Bird.

If you ever make your way back there, take the scenic drive and exit 65 towards Bloomington through the state forests and then south to French Lick. You won't find a nicer drive, especially in the fall.

Congrats everyone!! I'll go hide my disappointment on the course 😜

Don't disappoint me!!

Your name was on the list.  Did the list change?

Super eager to read what you all find out!  Glad this is happening. I’ve found reviews for these putters to be of the extreme on either side as in Obsessed with it or obsessed with trashing it. Surely, there must be a middle ground!  Congrats to those selected!!

since we’re talking bloomington, i have to mention highland park in bloomington illinois. such an unexpected gem. hilly, tree lined, fast greens, shotmakers course. and as of a few years ago, very well maintained. I only played a couple of times since I only was there on sales trips, but I was unexpectedly impressed.

Hah! I was added after the original announcement went up - someone had to drop out and I was added, which was an incredible surprise.  I only found out after playing 18 and then in the middle of grocery shopping.

Hoping I can follow my own advice and not disappoint myself 😉

Glad we could make some dreams come true 😃

MGS has been very good to me - I have any number of friends both virtual and real from this forum.  So I'd say you've made more than some come true.  Shankster and I have rarely applied for the same tests so it truly is cool to be in one with him.  I'm guessing we are both among the top ten MGS posters of all time.

Congrats to all the testers. Can’t wait to hear about the fitting process, and the product itself. Just looked up the putters themselves and am intrigued. Hopefully my putting tubes around or I will be looking at these next !

I think that was a typo, but if not - I need to hear more about these putting tubes. 😉

Hopefully my putting turns around lol. Typos and autocorrect are a killer these days

I am a strange putter aficionado.  I loved my Backstryke and this putter has elements of that.  I would be glad to participate.

Huge opportunity! I love my L.A.B. This might be the test of the summer!

After testing the ER11v last year I’m very curious how the two match up. In the last week I became very interested in this technology. It was triggered by the MGS John Barba article and listening to Sam Hahn on the Club Junkie podcast on GolfWRX.

The sick face combined with the LA golf shaft is really next gen. This might be a revolutionary step in putting for us duffers!

I would love to test one of these. I am a scratch golfer and very good putter. Put in a lot of hours of putting practice to finally cure a push miss, but feel like simplicity is best and this could be it. I have used a Seemore putter with great success and love the idea of L.A.B.

At this point, I an desperate to find anything that will help my putting. A few years ago I won a Scotty Cameron putter iff of a YouTube contest and although it is a piece of art, my putting confidence has failed to match up to the caliber of putter. Although these things look off the wall, i have always been curious of if this company was finally able to break the age old saying of “its not the arrows, its the archer”. Always exciting to see new technology.

I don’t have a problem with the looks but I am not seeing the performance improvements that others cite in their use.  I am not any worse but not any better.   It is definitely a change to the way I have putted for years.  I never forward pressed and now my setup is completely different because of the built in forward press.    I don’t like the large grip but don’t know if I can swap to one of the smaller grips or will that mess up the lie balance aspect of the putter.  Ball speeds seem slower off the face so I now have to make longer strokes to get distance I am used to.   I am able to better feel face angle/path mistakes and can immediately tell if I pushed or pulled a putt….my guess based on my research is that LAB would say it is because I am getting my hands to engaged in the stroke.  I move the putter with my hands so is that my problem and something I need to change my stroke to be more shoulder driven?  My practice on my ExPutt shows that I have good face and path numbers but not making any more putts in that 6-15 foot range.

I am mixed in my opinion because this putter is forcing me to change a lot about how I putt and I am not sure the juice is worth the squeeze.  I have tried all three models but picked the 2.1 because it was supposed to be the most automatic

this is strictly my personal findings and shouldn’t influence anyone else as the putter may be perfect for them

Great Response!  I completely see how, based on your response, it would be frustrating to change so much. I am a very minimal hands putter. In fact I game and have been for 6 years the Fatso 6.0 grip to quiet my hands.  Really enjoyed your clear and thorough explanation. Thanks.

Super pumped to see what the reviews say. I've been in the market for testing out new putters and saw this at a golf galaxy. wonder if it's worth the price and the looks you'll get on the green for whipping this out!

I'm really looking forward to this. I've been following the L.A.B. guys for a long time but have not been able to test their equipment. Anytime I see a video reviewing their stuff or an article on it, I'm clicking. I don't know why, but I love anything putter technology! It's the same reason I love those new cobra putters

I like that the shaft is in the center of the putter. The putter I use now is also in the center. It would be great to get a chance to test one of these out

Putting is one of the weaker parts to my game.  I would probably think I was average but when I look at my Arccos stats it shows me I’m losing 2.9 Strokes to my target handicap to putting, and it is my weakest aspect to my game the past 25 rounds by far.   I was just at Club Champion and was fitted for a Scotty Cameron X5 and I’m anxiously waiting for its arrival.  While waiting I for it, I tried the DF 2.1 with the broomstick shaft when I was out of town and lucky enough to be near a PGA Superstore.  I tried several putters and this was sooo easy to putt where I was aiming.  I’ve got a Ping Ketsch that I’ve been using which I like but not using well obviously.

I love to research things to death before I buy so as soon as I returned home to Oregon I got on the L.A.B. Website and was impressed with the videos and the concept of removing the torque.  The description of the putter as “The putter formerly known as Prince” was so true and made me laugh.   I also watched some YouTube reviews and like my experience the summery was if you can get over the unconventional looks it might be the putter for you.  With the high price, its worth some research to be confident its the right one.   I just retired and I’m starting to golf a lot more and would to love to compare this to my gamer and the new Scotty coming, and hopefully find the putter that fits my stroke.  I haven’t posted much to this point but will post about my experience at Club Champion and how the new Scotty works soon.

I’m also close enough I could drive to their facility in Eugene Oregon and to get fit there.  I like to compare it to my fitting at Club Champion and I’d like to see how they do things there and try different shafts etc.

Thanks for the opportunity.

This would be a great test to be a part of. I have never used a putter with an above average sized head. I think it would be quite a learning experience and it might just improve my putting! Thanks for the opportunity to apply for this test.............Golfguy

I have only become aware of L.A.B. Putters within the past 6 mos and have played with a couple of people who have the DF 2.1 in play. I have been amazed at watching how well it rolls the ball end-over-end.  Just tried their’s on some do-over puts and really like the feel of it.  I would really enjoy being able to put this putter through an extensive in-depth test!

I literally have one specced out in a shopping cart on their site - just debating on pulling the trigger. Absolutely LOVE the tech, the company, and would love the opportunity to put this thing through the wringer and annoy my wife and kids with more golf-talk 😜

I was JUST thinking that these should be tested. I'm clearly a genius. Hah.

Would love to be chosen for this.  Tried out the B.2 a few weeks ago while chatting with a fitter at Club Champion.  I'm intrigued by their design philosophy.  I'm a mallet kind of person so would be really interested in testing the DF 2.1 (not concerned about the head size).

I bought an indoor putting green (4' X 12') last Sep and have been using it every day since my course closed here (London, Canada) in the second week of November. Usually, it was for 10 - 15 minutes, but I made an excuse every single day to get to the basement. I have 2 PING blade putters, 1 Mizuno blade putter, and 1 Taylor Made mallet putter. Each varies by weight, length and feel. Every week or so I would find myself switching to a new 'favourite' putter. I finally know exactly what I am looking for : something that feels 'right', that moves effortlessly, that connects squarely every time (even on slight 'mishits'). That putter would be my Holy Grail. I went to a local indoor golf facility a few weeks ago to inquire about an LA Putter. After fitting, etc, it would cost  about $700 CDN. I would love to be chosen as a tester of this new innovation in putter design. After spending all winter experimenting with several putters on a daily basis, I think that I really have an idea how to evaluate something like the LA putters. Thanks for giving this opportunity to hopefully be chosen to test it out.

Looking forward to this.  Have had a few unique putters before.  Most notably a STX envision which I regret selling.  Hopefully this will bring back some of those vibes
