Ever wanted to be a part of the data MyGolfSpy collects over the course of the season? Welcome to Testers Wanted, where we recruit readers like you for objective feedback on products that roll into HQ throughout the year!

You can say a lot of things about L.A.B. Putters but you certainly can’t say they’re boring. Or conventional. Or even unoriginal. Even the owner calls them "absurd."

Leveraging an approach called "lie angle balancing" (hence L.A.B. Golf) the brand feels it has a technology to help you make more putts.

That said, we need testers like you to assess, and report back to us here at MyGolfSpy!

Important: Each tester will be required to submit a fitting video per L.A.B.'s fitting process and be prepared to provide as much detailed feedback as possible

A little late to the congrats to all the testers.  I will console myself by continuing to use either the DF992 or White Steel 5 going forward….one day, maybe one day I will get selected to test something.

I seem to be the king of polarizing of late so that's perfect for me. 🙂  Go bolts (there you have it)

No to get too off track but that move by Kucherov last night to set up TBs first goal was the best move I have ever seen in the NHL. I mean the defender couldn't even make contact as he went by.

So…

I submitted my video to L.A.B. For review, the evidence was clear… my current putter must be overturned.  Currently waiting for the final specs, but my fitter was responsive and asked questions about what I want from my putter. I have selected the B.2, and I am planning on that until told otherwise.

You’ll have to wait for the deets!… But it is going to look AMAZING, and I’m super stoked to see what this thing can do to help me hole more putts!

Please tell me you are going with the brass finish!  That is an amazing looking putter!

So the last few posts have explained the fitting process we’ve gone through, I’m not going to rehash it again. The big topics amongst us so far in our thread has been how confident any of us are in this process. We were told to use only the online fitting system, and still have no idea whether custom builds will be available to us. We’re basically winging it at this point.

I haven’t heard back from the fitter yet, so I have no idea what he’ll suggest. I’m going to go with it though, because, well, I’ve never touched the putter, so why wouldn’t I?

I’m going to be completely honest here and say going into this I can’t  imagine anyone buying a $5-700 putter sight unseen based off the recommendations from a 5 second fitting video. When you think about it though, that’s why this is such a great test. Whereas most of you who have tested clubs before we’re fitted in person then reviewed the product, ours is unique in that we’re not only going to test the putter, but evaluate the online fitting system.

I can’t wait to hear back from them and see the specs they suggest. The only request I had was the Mezz as my first choice, however I stressed to them that if they felt the 2.1 was a better choice for me, I’d certainly go along with their opinion.

To be continued….

Oh… you’ll have to wait for the gossip. But if you shook a magic 8 ball it would likely say, “signs point to yes”

The fitting process is interesting. Think convenience of zoom.

I submitted mine Tuesday and last night had my recommendations.

The decision to choose a certain head was difficult. I knew which one I did not want to try which evolved into a deep dive into how do I wish to proceed.

I wanted something I normally would not gravitate towards. Sure, that doesn’t answer it so I suppose I’ll just say this much.

I really want to see how this unique technology will benefit me on my bad, no feel putting days.

Yeah, that probably doesn’t cover it either.

Stay tuned…

This is an exciting opportunity.  In the 80's Madonna told us that we were living in a material world.  Now we live in a virtual one.  I think all of us our interested to see how our virtual fitting went.  No high tech set up in a lab or studio, just a door frame, tape measure and buddy with a smart phone to take a five second (mine was 6) video clip.

My fitting turned out to be remarkably close to what I have in regards to shaft length and lie and my current putter did come from a high tech fitting five years ago. Now of course it's hurry up and wait.  I will say that the L.A.B. fitters all seem to be very responsive to the questions that we have thrown their way.  Stay tuned for what we ended up with and our first impressions.

To an earlier question I think all of us are going with a standard putter but I could be wrong.  I'm a husband, dad and grandfather and senior pastor, I'm wrong frequently, or so I'm told. 🙂

Just out of curiosity, will all of the testers be looking at a "standard putter" vs an armlock or broomstick putter?

I considered an armlock, and really thought hard about a broomstick, as I wanted to try something I’ve never done before.

When I thought about it more, I began to feel that would’ve been, for lack of a better word, unfair. Both to LAB, and the test itself. I tried an armlock putter in a store on Sunday, and it felt incredibly awkward. Same with the broomstick. So I went standard because I didn’t feel I could give a fair review while using a style so different from what I’m used to.

When I ordered my DF 2.1 back in 2020, L.A.B.'s customer service was excellent. Hope you all are getting the same treatment.

My remote fitting turned out slightly more upright (68 degrees) versus the in-person fitting I did with their adjustable putter (66.5 degrees). I'd lean toward to remote fitting being more accurate, actually.

I saw the MEZZ in person a few months ago at Club Champion and it definitely was more "brick-like" than the DF. I'll be curious to see who chooses what and their thoughts.

I really think it's a game changer once you learn to trust the balancing tech.

When you say brick like, would you compare it to something like the double wide putter I’m using now, or something more extreme?

I might be changing my request from the Mezz to the DF2.1 after reading it’s their flagship putter.

To all one thing to remember is once all the fittings are sorted we will be locking this thread and making 3 new ones for these tests.

Having 12 in one test is great but the likelihood of the 12th review being read is much lower.

The 3 groups will be on the various heads. Hopefully we have close to s even Split between the 3, but either way we will then have our testers break off to their own threads... Altho as I write this maybe keeping this open for some inter tester trash talk could be fun....

If I miss any putts with this thing, it's obviously broken. Beat THAT everyone else! Also, you are all delightful humans! (I may not be very good at trash talk)

It's a pleasing shape from the top down. I was surprised at the thickness of the head, if that makes sense. If you Google some images you can see that it's "taller" than a lot of other putters out there. I assume they needed to get more mass into a smaller footprint versus the DF 2.1 which is wider and longer.

I love niche ideas... especially when they work (ex - single length irons)

Standing over a 10 footer to win the day
Buddy "Dude, that putter is so ugly"
As you sink the 10 footer to win the day "But that putt was so pretty"

I would love to test these out.  I just had my first putter test this week and the instructor said this design would best fit my stroke.

There's something fun and exciting about the L.A.B. putter, and I'd love to give one a try.  I'm looking forward to hearing from those selected, although I'd love to be the one sharing the information with others!

I have been wanting to try/bag one of these putters for a while now.  I tried out the crazy looking putter at a PGA superstore and was more impressed with it than anything else I've tried.  The expense of it was a big consideration.  If I hadn't just spent a good bit of money on irons recently, I probably would've highly considered buying it.  I've improved on putting the last year or so more than any other time in my golfing life, but I still struggle with inconsistency (good for a couple weeks, then bad for a month) and definitely wouldn't call it a strength.  Three-putts (and sometimes chipping) are my nemesis.  All that said, I would LOVE to try one of these!!!  I am optimistic about what it claims it can do.
My goal is to get my handicap down from a 9-10 to a 4-5, and I think putting can be the biggest/quickest key for me in that goal.

Can I just ask for a fitter reasonably near me and a discount code? 🤣 I've been on the fence about trying LAB for a while, I've got 4 putters in the basement that all never seem to give me quite the right combo. Been fitted twice, and I actually notice/feel the putter "torquing" in my hands thru the stroke. Have two face balanced and two toe hang putters, I'm almost certain LAB would shave a bunch of strokes off my game 😎

I’ve been looking at some Evnroll putters and almost pulled the trigger. Watched the L.A.B. video that compares toe hang and balance. Will be interesting to see what comes back from the testers in regards to how the face squares up.

Always cool to see really unique designs and new ways companies try to achieve the perfect putter. Curious to see how these work out and what consumers think of them.

Would jump at the chance to try this putter. I have read numerous articles about how fantastic this brand is and I would love to find out for myself.

Always looking for something to get the ball started on line better. Would love to put this up against my gamer in the putting green at the house.

I'm going through a horrible case of the yips w/ my Scottie Cameron mallet. I'd love to try something with a new look and different feel to see if I can find my way back from the wilderness!

I think this putter could be a game changer! I'm available as a tester. Thanks, I play three times a week so can give it a thourough review.

Since I am an atrocious putter, averaging at or over 36 putts, if the Directed Force can reduce my putts, it’ll work for anyone.
