Testers Wanted: Ship Sticks Travel Service!

image.png

Are you going on a flying trip soon and taking your clubs with you? We may have the perfect testing opportunity for you!

Straight from Ship Sticks -

At Ship Sticks, our mission is to make golf travel simpler, easier, and more affordable. In 2014, U.S. airlines collected $2.6 billion in baggage fees and mishandled 24 million bags. Our goal is to provide golfers with a hassle-free alternative to lugging their clubs to and from the airport – so as to improve the golf travel experience, increase the number of rounds played annually, and grow the game

We are looking for 4 MyGolfSpy Members who have an upcoming trip planned to report, review, compare and share their Ship Sticks experience with the Forum Community!

This Member Testing Opportunity is open to Right and Left Handed golfers in the US.

Ship Sticks does offer worldwide service, however for this current opportunity it is for US only Members.

The selected testers will receive the standard service one way with Ship Sticks, while the other would be using the airline as normal. Selected testers will be required to compare, review and report the differences, benefits, ease of use and everything else that comes along with both experiences!

Selected testers will be required to post and use their social media platforms (reels, videos, photos and such) as part of the review.
Testers will be announced prior to their trip and therefore can be rolled out over the course of the season.
Finally as this is a unique test unlike any other we have done before we will leave registration open for a little longer to ensure everyone with an upcoming to trip or newly planned trip can apply!

What do you think? Going on a trip soon and want to get an opportunity to test a service which could make travel infinitely simpler? Apply in the link top right!

While I do not have any current trips planned I am very excited to have this testing opportunity brought to the Forum. I have done a lot of travelling with my clubs and the airlines are not the most ideal at the best of times. A lot of extra cautions taken and while I have never had damaged clubs or issues, having to lug a big bag around of clubs is far less  than ideal.

The social media requirement makes this test an interesting one. While I don’t have any golf trips that require air travel in the near future, the results of this test should help with that decision when I do. Good luck to all those who apply and, enjoy those golf trips as well!

I should inform you that the Trip to England a walking trip in the countryside and time in London.  We will be in London from the 22nd  and leave the 28th. That would give me 5 days to play. That also depends on the club rules on visitors playing on the weekends.I usually rent clubs at the local courses when we’re in London. But hoofing clubs on the tube, buses are no problem as I’ve seen it before.

I don’t have any upcoming trips but have been using Sip Sticks for a few years. I started using them when my bag didn’t fit in the rental car with the family luggage. Here are my thoughts:

1. Their underlying carrier is Fedex and  there is a markup.

2. I always arrange for my bag to get to the destination at least one day before me.

3. I usually go to Hawaii and the cost is higher than shipping to the mainland.

4. Winter travel is “interesting”. On occasion, my bag is late. Ship Sticks always lets me know beforehand and provides reimbursement to rent clubs, buy balls, glove, etc. up to $150. They also refunded the outbound cost.

5. You may also purchase extra insurance for lost clubs.

The good:

for a small extra fee , they arrange a pickup at your home/office and at the resort/golf course for return - I would check with the resort/golf course before traveling.

Ship Sticks follows your bag for you. Hint: I also put an AirTag in the bag.

Very convenient not to schlep a large bag.

Cons:

It ain’t cheap but look for their 20% off coupons.

Fedex will be a little less money

Willing to try it on my upcoming trip to California BUT I fly home on August 5th and my clubs have to be at my house before 3:00pm on August 8th. If that is doable, count me in!

Thanks!

After years of travel and playing competitively, the current airline situation causes havoc with sticks.  I used to reverse the woods in the bag to keep from snapping the graphite shafts.  The airlines destroy travel covers and occasionally lose the bag.  Years ago when a full set was in the $500 range maybe it was not as important but, now to replace a full bag is will be close to $3000.  I am looking for an alternative.

I have scheduled a trip the end of June and first of July, and will have a great chance to test Ship Sticks.

This is a great service and I have very pleased with them. It’s so convenient. Drop your clubs off at your local club or shop stick center, show up at the destination course play your rounds, leave clubs their to have them shipped back and then pick them up at your local course. That east.

Buy extra insurance, wrap your clubheads with a couple of golf towels and if you have an adjustable driver head, remove it before shipping (and don't forget to take the tool.

1. Practice.  Sure equipment has some impact but I think the most cost effective aspect is practice.

2. I don't believe DTC overall will ever match the OEM. Too much money spent on tour pros free equipment just to try and convince me I should buy theirs.  It is hard for me to understand much less accept that we are paying for their freebies. Heck they are the ones making the big bucks.  Doesn't matter the sport. The amount we pay for them is out of this world.

3. I mentioned $40 earlier.

No trips planned currently where I need to ship my clubs.  My golf trips for the next year are all where I will be driving to my destination.  Good luck to those signed up and hope you are chosen.

As I stated, (prior to adjustable heads) I used to turn woods upside in golf bag and cover with athletic socks.  My newest travel cover is semi-hard so it does a much better job of protecting the heads.  The least thing anyone wants is to show up at a tournament without your favorite driver and have to get repaired or find an alternative.
