Testers Wanted: Sub 70 Putters

Screenshot 2023-08-29 10.31.38 AM.png

Just because the seasons are changing doesn’t mean there isn’t still ample time to test and review golf clubs.

In MyGolfSpy Most Wanted Testing Sub 70 has performed well year over year and claimed third overall in 2023 Most Wanted Blade with the Sycamore 005 Wide Blade.  Bolstering an impressive lineup of 16 putters they have an option that will surely appeal to any golfer.

Sub 70 says “Every Sub 70 putter is milled from a billet of 1045 carbon steel which leaves no welds, castings or inconsistencies in the head. This is the best way to make a putter head and you will not find a more solid, great feeling putter. Aesthetically each of the Sub 70 putters offers a clean, classic black and white color scheme with traditional alignment lines. We have purposefully made the heads slightly heavier than the industry standard as we feel it allows a more natural pendulum like putting stroke. “

Sub 70 also introduced a new graphite/steel putter shaft this year that offers more technology, feel and stability.

Add in these Sub 70 putters will often cost half of what major brands sell for and there would seem to be perfect balance of value and performance.

This is where we need you!

We will be selecting four golfers to test, review and keep any putter from Sub 70’s lineup with the shaft preference of their choosing.

What do you think? Up for testing what could be the best underrated putter you haven’t tried and providing your feedback along the way?

IMPORTANT! - Screenshot and/or share the Sub 70 Putter you want to test along with shaft and grip combo to be eligible for test!

*Test is open to US only
*Available for Left and Right handed golfers.
*Registration closes Sept 13 2023 and selections announced Sept 19 2023.

The Sub 70 Sycamore 005 Wide Blade is my first choice to test. Right handed with the Winn Medalist grip and Double Bend shaft for close to face balanced.

If the above is out of stock (which it now shows on the site), my second choice would be the Sub 70 Sycamore oo1 Blade, Right Handed, with Winn Medalist grip.

I would like to test the left handed Sub 70 Sycamore 004 Mallet. The midsize grip (Winn 2020 VSN midsize Pistol black) with a double bend shaft is perfect. The standard club length (35’’) is also great.

The Sycamore 009 Mini Putter is a style I’ve always wanted to try. I currently have a blade but more of a straight swing path so I  would love to try a mallet style putter to better promote that path. Thanks for the opportunity to test!

So, my putter of the last three years just broke, the head snapped off in my trunk. Looking forward to seeing these test results to look at new putters! Being able to test one would be pretty awesome too, but hoping that whoever tests is able to give a good review on these, they look great!

I have just heard of Sub 70 this year. What makes these clubs so wanted?

What kind of grips are offered?

Sub70 is a DTC brand that makes high quality equipment and has great customer service.  They are wanted simply because they are solid clubs that can be obtained for a reasonable price.

if you go to the Sub70 website you can customize the putter and see the available options.

Excited to see the reviews on this set of putters. Sub 70 has really been making waves in the golf community. Interesting to see how the putters match up to everything else in the market. Good luck all.

This is my first time trying to be a tester. I have my own YouTube channel (Dean Macko golf) but I have never written an article for MGS. I switched to a mallet style putter just about 3 years ago (didn't want to break the bank and went with a Wilson). I think they are much more stable than the blades I was playing before. Like many, I think I'd like to go with the Sycamore. I really enjoy the bat-shaped profile. I would certainly upsize the grip, and I play midsize in my irons and woods. It helps me not be too handsy with any of my clubs. I hope I am selected. Oh, and I also used to write the "Wheels" section in my College newspaper.

Would love to try this 008 Center Shaft Putter with a standard shaft.  If not, another of your face-balanced putters would be fantastic.

I would really like to test the Sub 70 Sycamore 009 Mallet putter, standard length (35"), with the Super Zenergy Pistol 1.0 Putter grip.  The new graphite/steel putter shaft.

Would love to test the mini putter. I really like the design and the specs look to be comparable to my current Bettinardi gamer. I would be very interested to see how these 2 will stack up against one another.
