Golf Travel Bags - Which is the best?

I recently traveled to Florida for a couple of weeks this early spring. Had to buy a new travel bag. The old one had bit the dust. I did research online and chose the Orion Tour Trek - $199 bag - cost at golfsmith.com was $129.97. Has great pockets, padding, straps, easy inline wheels... did the job. One thing that takes getting used to is the zipper... it runs all the way around and you have to remember to not leave it at the top of the bag, but move it down the side... othewise when you pull on the top handle, the bag has a tendency to open. It's not a big deal, and once you know it, not a problem. I recommend this bag. You can check out some of my research - I published it on my blog: http://golfgurls.com/2009/12/03/play-golf-will-travel-protection-for-your-golf-clubs/ hope it helps you with your decision.

Club Glove is the standard if you can afford it. The Ogio bags are nice and a lower cost alternative.

I thought that with the Ogio, I was not giving up any quality, and gaining a bit of value... hence a better product.

I've used the same Club Glove Burst Proof since college, and the Last Bag for my staff bag.

I know they're unpopular for their bulk and difficulty to pack/store when empty, but I like my hard case from SKB. It wasn't terribly expensive, it has a killer warranty/guarantee against breakage, and once I pack & lock it, I don't have to give my clubs a second thought.

Club Golve is #1 well built and now you can get some great deals on the Burst proof, that being said I have on from Callaway well built and bought brand new from a guy on one of the furums for 50.00 so really can't beat it. I don't travel as much as I would like but when the time comes hopefully in another 10 years or so I'll be using a clubglove if my Cally travel bag dies.

Their great for individual traveling but if you going with a bunch of the boys and you need to get from airport to hotel with a 4some make sure to get a big big trunk or a big 10 passenger van for 4 with all the luggage and btravel bags those turle shells justy don't have no give when it comes to packing with others. One of the two guys in the back seat will have it across their laps. LOL. :)

Years ago I got a full staff bag size SKB travel cover. It's a beast, but it does the job well. Over the years, I got a few different soft-sided ones, and I still use my Callaway soft-side travel bag from time to time. However, I was in a TJ Maxx about 5 yrs ago now, and they had a Club Cadet, or some such name, hard-side mid to small sized travel bag. I almost exclusively use it now whenever I fly and take clubs. It's not so big, but big enough to carry a stand bag. It was cheap on clearance....I think it was like ~$30.

With the airlines no longer standing behind any damage they do when they throw your gear around, I want the hard sided case. I use the soft-sided when I travel by car or such.

Heck, you need a big car even when there's only 1 of them! My SKB's first trip was to Monterey on my honeymoon with my wife and trying to get that thing into the back seat of our rented Mustang was ridiculous.

I don't even travel with my clubs anymore. I just ship them to my destination, and ship them home. Cheaper, safer, and less hassle.

I have the CG Last Bag for a year and a half and can't say enough about Club Glove products. Prior to the Last Bag, I had a Burstproof which served me faithfully for over eight years, making 6-8 trips per year. For short trips, I'd throw all my clothes, shoes and toiletry into the clubglove and have only a single check-in. I guess it's a bit of a gamble placing all my eggs in one basket but fortunately, only a single eight out delay once before the airline delivered my bag to my destination. I opted for the Last Bag when the wheel finally brook on my burstproof as I wanted to increase the space on my single luggage. I even bought the stiff arm, but find that it adds quite a bit of weight and is unnecessary when my golf bag is inside. Good luck.
