This year dumped the blades (ego) got some G25'S golf is fun again. Why did I wait so long.

Also glad to see another "old fart" on here like myself. I am not quite 60 yet but I am on the back side of the 50s. I got rid of the blades finally about 4 months ago and I am enjoying golf again and playing good. I don't think it is ego as much as that we are older and we tend to get set in our ways and we resist change. I think a late friend of mine a few years back summed it up for me anyhow when he said "Times are changing and I don't like it a bit no not one damn bit" It kinda came to me a few weeks ago when a friend visited and was shocked when he saw I was hitting cavity backs. He said "you were always a good ball striker" what the heck?? I said maybe 30 years ago when I hit 300 balls a day or played 36 a day but I aint going to do that no more just play when I want to and hit a few balls when I want to

Welcome, and it does not matter if you can hit blades or not.  The big deal is that you no longer have to hit blades.  There are lots of options and for many if not all they are better options.  How many better ball strikers have you seen than Steve Stricker, Jason Dufner, or Phil Michelson?  They do not hit blades any more either.

When I was a kid in the early 1960s, my dad used to talk about golf being a "lifetime game" during our rounds together. He was right! I play more often now than I ever did, and while I can't say I'm a better golfer, I certainly enjoy it more. Technology also helps...my Adams "Super Game Improvement" clubs help me to keep up with the youngsters I play with.

Embrace your Golf Geezerhood, and as the awesomely articulate R.P. Jacobs II says, "Fairways and Greens Forever!"

Slainte'!

RP and myself had a discussion on another thread a little while back about the equipment now. Honestly I was always long not outrageously long but long. We were compairing stats and at 56 I am almost as long off the tee as I was in my 20s there is one answer modern equipment. I resisted change for a while but it took me time to see the light so to speak but I am glad I finally did and it made the game more fun again
