My game just disappeared into thin air

So, after 4 weeks in a row of 86, 90, 88 and 92, my 4.4 sounds pretty funny. These games were all at new tracks, but geez.

Walker, you know Tierra, but have you played at saticoy cc, or Malibu cc?

My new nickname is 3-putt, or, hitting 3....

I shot 92 today, but was actually semi happy with my iron play after the last month where I couldn't hit a green with an atom bomb.

 

I guess my question is, is it unusual to have stretches of total swing dysfunction combined with rancid putting?

I haven't played either of the other tracks but I feel your pain. I went to Ireland for 10 days and now I can't hit a decent iron to save my life!!

This happened to me this summer. I had 4 or 5 rounds in the low 90's then did not play for 3 weeks and had a 4 round weekend that scored 124, 112, 105, 95. So for me it is just all about playing more. You gotta love this game!

I'm going through one of these right now. Putting isn't that good but iron shots are horrible, going left with a big sweeping draw, not a snap hook. I'm basically trying to play better than bogey golf.

Yup happens to everyone, look at Rory this year

 

I started out the year making everything inside 15', then I couldn't make anything outside of 15" for about a month.  Just keep at it and it will go back around the other way soon.

Did u go to play golf?  I would love to hear what u have to say if so.  Ireland is the absolute bucket list trip for me.  It's gonna take at least 10-14 days to play the courses I wanna play and visit the Gunniess factory.

I haven't played in over a month now.  Combo of crappy weather and extra call at work.  I'm scared to see what it's gonna be like next time I play.

I have been playing great for the past couple of weeks. Kicked butt Sunday morning then they arranged a game Sunday afternoon and, I kept out of the team set up because they were giving me the strongest team.

 

Then on the first hole I dropped a shot needlessly. Long story short, I did this on 12 of 18 holes and sometimes 2 strokes on a hole. We ended up losing the max to both other teams.

Sounds like I'm not the only one then. It's really odd though. One day you're knocking pins over from 180 in, the next day you feel like you're playing left handed.

I go through these stages too.  Played Los Colinas up in Dallas this past weekend and carded a 92 (4.5 HCP).  Could not hit a fairway to save my life, HELL I could not hit water if I jumped out of a sinking boat in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

My problem is that its generally one thing or the other going south. That way my handicap stays low and I just loose money. /)

I seem to have two or three weeks a summer where my game just leaves me for no apparent reason.  Played a two day event this year that I was the low man playing off of scratch and struggled to break 90 on both days.  Day two I was asked how I shot 89 and the easy answer was I chipped on for birdie on 18!

It's not unusual and I have not yet found a way of preventing it from happening, but the fix it period can be shortened tremendously by gaining a better understanding the way you swing and why you swing the way you do.

Do you guys find yourself Switching irons when you find yourself in this situation.  For me I always go back to my Slingshot Tours, get my game back, then switch back to my normal gamers.  Ya, I am a headcase........

I will do that. In the end it's always something simple. Ball position, alignment, something silly like that.

I did play once at Ceann Sibeal Dingle Golf Club.

It was a nice course with some great views. However the trip was very last minute- booked it less than a week before we left

It was more of a babymoon for my wife, but I will be going back for sure.

It's that space between the ears.  There are times I struggle and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.  I think I break down mentally lose shots.  It's contagious for me though.  If I hit a couple,  I have a hard time shaking it off for a few rounds.

So I went out solo today to work on game. Basically played 2-3 balls, course was deserted from a little rain this morning.

 

After trying endless stupid stuff, I finally started getting some results with 3 simple things:

1) a little stronger grip

2) pulling with the left hand a bit more

3) getting the swing a little more "in-out"

 

Not "a lot" of any of them, just "some".

 

Perhaps I should add a 4) using my core to swing from. All these things finally stopped the flares to the right, and actually got my little draw working again.

 

Can't wait for Monday s round, my partner is thinking he owns me right now.
