Blade
Meh. Lining that cavity with the plastic actually takes more material to do than if they simply covered the hole with it. That also raises the CG compared to just covering it. That cavity does nothing to contribute to a higher moi than other drivers available achieve with no cavity. It's just a "for looks" gimmick. But it looks different and sells. Nothing wrong with it. It certainly doesn't hurt. But it is just for looks. Last year's has one of the highest COGs compared to others and an moi that falls in the middle of the pack. Nothing there to make it stand out performance wise. Not sure what they changed for this year. I'm sure it's a great fit for plenty of players. But the cavity isn't the reason why.
lmh3
The Covert Tour was actually one of the lowest spinning drivers I hit last year, it bordered on too low spin for me. I didn't try the Performance model so I can't speak to that. I just thought the head felt dead last year, I hope that the 2.0 gives a better feel off the face than the original did. Mr_Theoo
This looks exactly the same as the previous one with a different paint job. Unless there's something I'm not seeing. Both the tour and performance heads are 460cc this time. I'm sure there's more on the inside. Sort of fine tuning the design I would assume. The intent was to relocate the weight back to the heel and toe, incorperating Fly-Brace into the new cavity actually stiffens the rear of the club, the result is more energy transfer at impact (MOI). Blade
I respectfully disagree with your "For looks" assertation. The intent was to relocate the weight back to the heel and toe, incorperating Fly-Brace into the new cavity actually stiffens the rear of the club, the result is more energy transfer at impact (MOI). MOI has nothing to do with energy transfer directly. Are you thinking of something else? But they gotta do more to convince me that cavity functions for more than aesthetics. It's not a comparatively high MOI driver and that's what it's supposed to accomplish like a cavity back iron. I'm not bashing it or saying it's a lousy driver. But when you look at the CG and MOI numbers, it's not anything special as a result of the cavity. So all I see is a design feature to appeal to the eyes. I could be wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time.
