Entry #10 (which should serve as a reminder that we're not even halfway done yet) is one I'm particularly exited to have in our test. I'll be perfectly honest, I don't actually know much about this driver, and it certainly wasn't on our original hit list.

That said, while others were going out of their way to avoid us, Shawn from Sinister absolutely hounded us with comments, and emails. He basically made himself impossible to ignore, and when you're trying to get the word out about your product, that's not a bad strategy. He wanted the Sinister Agent Orange driver in our test, and we were more than happy to oblige.

As I said from the beginning. I think when you see the full field I think you'll agree that we've achieved a fantastic mix of the big boys, the mid-tier guys, and smaller companies who are just looking for the opportunity to prove themselves.

Once again...slow updating this thread. We had a shipping delay with the last couple, and I didn't post the one before that, so...to bring everybody up to speed, and totally round out the field (except for lucky #13), here are the last 3 entries in this year's test:

Callaway Big Bertha-14.jpg

TaylorMade JetSpeed Driver-1.jpg

TaylorMade SLDR Driver-7.jpg

No 430 for a direct comparison between it and the BBa?

There's really not a direct comparison to be made between the two. Bertha Alpha is a 460CC driver with a a CG that's already less forward than SLDR 460. The closer comparison is with the 460.

Just looked through the field again- and probably will may more times before any results are posted- and it is starting to sink in just how unique this test is. I mean, that field is crazy even without the few no-shows. Like TW alluded to above, I am envious of the testing crew! I know the testing scoring is slightly different now, but is it bad of me to hope that nothing in the field rates higher than the i20 did? I'm not sure I want to spring for a new driver this year!

Well the results are in.

I can't say that the top 2 surprised me, but man do I want to lay my hands on that PowerBilt.  That might be the most compelling story in the entire test this year.

My only issue is that the only local vendor appears to be a $$$/hour fitter :(.

Yeah, the Nike story is tough for me.  Being a runner, I own a LOT of Nike stuff, and will swear by some of it, but I've had some real issues with their shoes (poor durability) and their labor policies, so for the last two years I have shied away from buying their product if I have an alternative, preferably "Made in USA".  Unfortunately that last part is nearly impossible in the world of golf equipment ( in my budget ).

But the progress Nike has made, not only in drivers but in balls and irons makes them interesting to look at going forward.

Complete junkie.  I love tinkering with s***. I'd have 4-5 bags of clubs that I could tinker with whenever I wanted if the budget allowed.  It seems to come with being a hard core nerd.  I am the same way with computers, tablets, phones, mice, keyboards, watches.  You really don't want to know how many of those things I go through in a typical year.
