Mfrye
Sorry to post a new thread for this but how does one obtain a verified handicap? I just met my Girlfriends family, and got talking golf with her grandpa. I told him what my average round was and what I had as a handicap (based of golflogix app which I have doubts about because it seems to fluctuate considerably after every round) He said I should get a verified handicap so that he could use me for tournaments. I just have no idea how to obtain one. I know the equation to compute it but as far as getting it verified I don't have a clue. I do have about 30 rounds documented in the App including 9 hole courses. Any help or insight is greatly appreciated! Many Thanks
hckymeyer
Like most things it involves money There are many places/ways to do it, but basically you sign up with the USGA and enter rounds. Personally I do it through my local course with my membership. Here is a link to getting an official handicap through your local course. http://www.usga.org/playing/handicaps/getting_a_handicap/getting_a_handicap.html Basically you have to sign up through the USGA and enter scores, usually through a local course, but there are many online only alternatives. Just do a google search for getting an official handicap or ask one of your local courses if they offer that service. Jmikecpa
Since I am not a member of one club, but rather a men's association I use a local club as my "home" course and pay about $40 a year for the handicap service. Works well since once you get you number established on the GHIN system you can post scores on the web and this is the same as posting on the terminal at the club.
