Have you played Dynacraft wedges before?  I'm in the market for new wedges this year and have been debating about building vs. buying.  I just haven't really had an experience with the component heads before.

hckymeyer, I have not played them before.  These will be my first ones from Dynacraft.  They have a milled face and look great.  I doubt i will get to hit them before April living here in the Midwest with the winter we are having.   I will report back on how they perform.

I have played the Maltby forged wedges in the past and they were very nice.  Very soft feel.

Matt-Do some reading on it. It's easy to get started. You don't need a lot of expensive equipment to do basic club building. A shaft vice of some kind. Even the rubber jaw that goes in a regular bench vise can work although it's kind of a pain. You can find a simple balance swing weight scale on the cheap. A gram scale can be picked up for a few bucks. Then a few supplies like ferrules, epoxy, shafting beads, tip weights, grip tape, solvent, a hosel wire brush for cleaning out hosels from used heads and a cordless drill for it, heat gun and /or propane torch. An air compressor is great for installing grips, but you don't have to have one. Maybe start with grips and try pulling and reinstalling a shaft on something to get started, and don't worry about the swing weight stuff at first. There's plenty to read and even YouTube videos to watch to see it done first. Don't be afraid to jump in and get started. There's always more to learn as you go. But it doesn't take much to get started.

I really think some of the component stuff is great. I've had two sets of custom built KZG's and have liked both of them. The Maltby, Dynacraft, Wishon, etc seems to be as high quality as the OEM stuff. Maybe better on tolerances. The best part of the stuff is if you get fit you can get exactly the right shafts for you built to your specs for the same amount or even less as the off the rack OEM stuff. You can get it way cheaper if you do the work yourself and get good deals. I built my KZG's for a total investment of less than $400. I got both the heads and shafts second hand in mint condition and did most of the work myself.

It's all about the short game, unless you can't keep it in play!
