TPA Putters
Hello all,I wanted to share with the members here a few things that I am doing and if anyone has any questions I would enjoy answering.First, my father, Terry McCabe, passed away on Master's Friday last year. It was unexpected, but it was fitting that a guy that has meant so much to the golf industry spend his last days with only two things, his son, and the Master's coverage. It's a memory I'll never forget. For anyone interested in learning more about my father's background there is a wikipedia link below or click his name above. He has a fascinating background in which I was lucky to experience first hand. He was also a great father and one of the most honest men I have met. He has as much respect from a son as a father can earn.I am bringing back his TPA brand and putter line with the same values he carried. I expect to do more than putters in the future, but his last decade of work was deeply involved in putters. I have the last set of putters with his fingerprints on them and look forward to sharing them in the future.I respect the rules of the forum and hope the post is found in good nature. I see the likes of Machine putters, who are sponsors, and I appreciate the difference in rules for each. I also respect his(Dave Billings) IP prowess, for those that don't know he has some impressive IP as did my father. If any post is crossing the line or 'just out of the fairway' let me know. Thanks, Tee McCabe

TPA Putters
YES SIR!!!! WOW that is a beautiful TPA. That was back in the day when he and Gary Adam's were a team at TaylorMade. I wish more people knew of the real history of TaylorMade. There is a really cool true story about Karsten and Gary having a mutual agreement about what they would/wouldn't produce which I can share if interested. My father did all designs back in the day there including all the Burners, raylors, spoon, irons, etc. Tee
SPY VIP The Dansome Posted February 14, 2014 SPY VIP Share Posted February 14, 2014 Rolled that putter from 88-99 and boy was it awesome. Had a refinish done a few years back just because he served me so well. Really look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future. dru_
Not only welcome, but what a way to introduce yourself. Sorry about your dad's passing, but it sounds like you guys had a great relationship. As someone that has worked with my own father for almost 20 years and built a great relationship with him through it, I can deeply empathize with the kind of loss that is. rymail00
That's cool (but sad) story. I grew up playing a TPA XVIII that my dad passed down to me. He had it cut down to like 32" for me. I was just like 10 years old (I am 33 now) and found it last summer in their basement and added it to my collection. Definitely cool to look at and remember the times playing with my old man 2 decades ago. I think he will get a kick out of seeing it again when I get to see him again this spring. Definitely cool to see you keeping the family legacy going. I will keep following your progression. TPA Putters
Hi guys/gals, I thought I'd drop in and look around the site, interesting site and interesting driver test they did. I think there was a quote somewhere on the testing report about Gary Adams saying clubs either perform or they don't. A couple cool stories about Gary... Gary met my father at PGA Golf when Gary was selling product for them including the T-LINE putters. Gary and my father became excellent friends. At the time my father was working with a couple guys on using investment casting for metalwoods. In fact, one of the first investment cast metal woods was the T-LINE. Initially the gentleman that was doing Gary's casting was in Chicago I believe and he was also involved in the design aspect as well. Gary and my father were still good friends and communicated frequently on what they were working on. Then they decided to work together and my father became the designer for what is known as the orginal Taylor Made Metal Woods, Tour preferred, and burners, spoon, cleek, etc. He also did some of the irons and a few other things. The TPA putter line became very successful there as well. Gary was a brilliant visionary and marketer and he had an equal conterpart to make the designs and make damn sure the castings were done right. One reallly cool story is that Gary and Karsten had a gentleman's agreement. Karsten would stay out of the metalwood market and Gary would stay out of the perimeter weighted iron market and I believe inclusive of square grooves. Later Salomon bought TaylorMade and this didn't change right away, but eventually it did under Salomon. I hope you enjoyed the quick story... rymail, we have re-designed the TPA XVIII with the same classic look and it will be our next model, how could it not be Thanks for the picture, that putter was a beauty, I gamed it for 8 years. -Tee
