Another go by HighFade

Spring is here, my bag is set. It's time to register for events this year. On my list so far:

8 Golf Channel AmTour tournaments

US Public Links

US MidAm

Colorado USGA events yet to be decided

I'm feeling really good about my game. Been working on basically everything, and I'm as good as I've ever been. Mostly range time is spent dialing in the wedges and short irons, and a lot of chipping and putting. Let's do this!

I'll be posting progress on this thread, more for my own notes, but feel free to follow along.

There is no spoon.

Thanks guys.

I'll be posting boring stuff like practice notes and progress, so I won't be offended if everyone eventually stops following the thread.

My weak points have been chipping and green side bunker play, so I'll be concentrating on that right now. Course management is probably the most important for me. Gotta just play my game, and not get tempted when I see someone go for a long par 5 over water, etc. That's not my game.

You may be a help to me by posting since I am sorta coming out of a 4 year hiatus so to speak. I am back practicing and training because I am planning to play a couple of Sunbelt Senior Tour events this year. And my course management sucks but I am working on it.

Got out today, and the results were less than stellar. Chipping and putting need lots more work. Missed a couple birdie putts inside 10 feet. Short iron game is looking good. Knocked a couple from 120-ish to within tap in range. Hard to miss a 6 inch putt!

SLDR wasn't doing it for me. But I spent two hours on the range grooving the swing. Feeling more confident, but I gotta get more consistent.

Driver is getting really good (12 of 14 fairways last week). Chipping is better but still needs work. Lag putting and short putts are going to be my focus next few weeks.

Well I played Sunday after church. The wind was blowing like heck but I figured it was a good character builder. I really put the challenge to myself to work my short game and mental game. I did play from the blues and caught hell. Had to work my short game hard to score but did take my time to think on my shot selections. Many of my drives were dead into a 20 mph head wind and only went 180 yards or so and on a couple of par 4s had to hit a stinger 3 wood to get near the green but it worked out funny thing I pared the 2 toughest holes on the course. Ended up scrambling my butt off and shot 79. I think I could have shot better but I did hit some experimental shots with my new irons due to the fact this was only the 2 nd round I played with them. I will say this was on my home course and I do know it like the back of my hand but it has pumped me up

I never lag putt I try to make everything whether it is 3 feet or 30 feet. I have trained myself that I don't fear the comeback putt when I practice I do practice the 3 to 6 foot range. Not to say all is well I have been known to 3 putt from being overaggressive but that is the way I roll
