jaxbeachpackerfan
So, Wannabegolfer posts and PMs me about a trip to Jax, says he's being convention spouse at the Marriott Sawgrass and looking for a game. So I set something up with our regular weekday group for yesterday and agree to pick him up at the hotel. Exchange contact info. "Oh, you're Jeff? I'm Jeff too." So I pick up Wannabegolfer at the hotel at 7am heading to our round about 20 minutes away, exchanging pleasantries and bitching about the 41 degree temperature reading in March in Florida (at least it was sunny and light winds). Driving up to the course, I see one of the other guys in the foresome and it occurs to me (finally) that I should know Jeff's last name in order to make proper introductions. So, I ask Jeff his last name. He says "#NAME#" (prudent internet confidentiality here). "No", I said, "not my last name, your last name." Again, he says "#NAME#" again. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! Chance random internet golf get-together and I'm golfing with myself!!! Same exact first and last names! After we stopped laughing, went over to make the introductions to Charlie, which made for another round of laughter. Had a great time and Wannabegolfer even had a birdie on the toughest par 3, worth double junk (and a handicap adjusted net zero!)! Thank you again for the hospitality!!! Your very welcome, and please come visit again! Your bright spot was also accompanied by another "coincidence"! Charlie, who has about the same handicap as you, also had a birdie for a net zero on the second hardest par 3 (these two par 3's were the #5 and #6 handicap holes on this course), by "feathering a driver" into the wind to about 5 feet. Your putt was a whole lot tougher than Charlie's, breaking about five feet at the end, yet dropping softly into the cup (plus you hit an iron (a beauty), not a driver, into the par 3)!!!! I've never seen a net zero, and we had two in the space of about 8 holes!
