Most Intersting Man and Brendon Todd WITB

Recommended Posts

In Brendon Todd's TMag Staff Bag this week was the following.

Driver: TaylorMade R1 (10.5 degrees, Matrix Ozik TP 6 HD shaft)

3-Wood: TaylorMade SLDR (15 degrees, Aldila Tour Blue 85 X shaft)

18.5-Degree Rescue: TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2 (UST Mamiya ATTAS Elements shaft)

4-9 Irons: TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB (KBS Tour 125 X shafts)

47-Degree Wedge: TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB (KBS Tour 125 X shaft)

52-Degree Wedge: TaylorMade Tour Preferred (KBS Tour 125 X shaft)

56-Degree Wedge: TaylorMade Tour Preferred (KBS Tour 125 X shaft)

60-Degree Wedge: Fourteen Golf RM-12 (KBS Tour 125 X shaft)

Putter: Rife Titan

Ball: Titleist Pro V1x

But wait just a cotton pickin' minute. Everybody knows that the R1 is last years driver and TMag wedges are crap and Rife Putters are they still in business? How could he win for the first time ever?

Well, to start with, he lead the field this week in driving accuracy (40 of 56 fairways or 71.43%). However, he hit just 43, less than 60% of GIR. How did he really win? He made par or better 25 of 29 times he missed the green.

But does TMag even make wedges? WTH? I'm not sure anyone has ever mentioned a TMag wedge before.

But he also used the Rife putter to tie Mike Weir in the 99 putts for the week department. Rife Putter? They get less respect than TMag wedges.

So last but not least was the Pro V1x golf ball. Yeah, they were good.

On a related note, the Most Interesting Man in Golf, won his nations championship.

Miguel Angel Jimenez
Spanish Open, European Tour
Driver: Ping i25 (9.5 degrees, Aldila Tour Blue 65 TX shaft)
3-Wood: Ping i25 (14 degrees, Aldila Tour Blue 75 X shaft)
5-Wood: Ping i25 (18 degrees, Aldila Tour Blue 75 X shaft)
7-Wood: Ping i25 (21 degrees, Aldila Tour Blue 75 X shaft)
4-9 Irons: Ping S55 (True Temper Dynamic Gold SL X100 shafts)
48-Degree Wedge: Ping S55 (True Temper Dynamic Gold SL X100 shaft)
52-Degree Wedge: Ping Tour Gorge (True Temper Dynamic Gold SL X100 shaft)
60-Degree Wedge: Ping Tour Gorge (True Temper Dynamic Gold SL X100 shaft)
Putter: Ping Scottsdale Pickmeup
Ball: Srixon Z-Star XV

He used his Ping wedge to win get up and down from behind the green to save par and win a 3 way playoff.  He also broke his own record again, for being the oldest winner on the European Tour.

When ask why he did not play the Senior Tour he said, "I am not yet finished kicking the young men a$$."  Not really, I made that up.
