Hot News! MGS Most Wanted Mallet Discontinued?!

LOL Thats why I pulled the trigger when I went back to see if it was still there.  It is in the bag for this weekend's play.  Will go early to get a good warmup session with it on a real green before we tee off.  Ive never used a CB before, so it should be interesting.

Be prepared for everything to come up a bit short.   It's very easy to align and very easy to lag, but you have to hit those 5-10 footers kinda hard to get them to stay on track and drop.

Kind offer mark, thankyou. But I'm going to hold fire - I phoned ping uk back to order a senita b and asked if ketsch was being replaced - their response was within two months.

Now I don't know if that will end up being true but I cancelled the senita right there and decided to wait for Son of Ketsch.

MGS staff have you heard anymore?

Hmm... rapid cancellation combined with corporate silence followed by replacement --  hints at a QC problem.

I have heard nothing but silence.  Tired to contact three people so far and all have not responded.  One said he would by the end of this week.  It came and went.

strange thing here... many folks said they would be finding a different putter instead, but none indicated they would choose the #2 putter tested, the wilson staff...

WITB:

Adams 9064LS 9.5* (until I cracked the face)

Adams Super LS 17*

Adams XTD Ti 23*

Wilson Staff Ci7 4-PW

Adams wedges: 52/7 56/13 60/7

Wilson Staff Infinite Southside putter/Odyssey DualForce 660 putter

To be fair I have tried the Wilson (all iterations of it) and struggled with the insert - no snobbery at work, after all it's a lot cheaper than a ping and I don't care about brand or appearance if it goes in the hole.

But I guess many would pick it up and grimace....it's no looker and many folks do want a nice looking flat stick.

I've now heard from several sources that Ping Rep's are saying that the Ketsch was a "limited edition" putter and once they sold out of production, that was it.     Obviously not true, but perhaps its an interpretation of the memo that said that the Ketsch had completed its normal life cycle and would no longer be available for sale.

In any event, I see that Westwood was still using his at the Bridgestone.   I wonder what all the Pro's who just switched over to the Ketsch will do the rest of the year?   Will they still whip this dead horse?

To  be fair, I'm come to LOVE the fact that it naturally comes up short. Slippery downhills don't run away and I can force myself to bang uphill putts past the hole.

Some guys are now hearing from Ping CS and reps that a Ketsch 2 is planned for Spring of 2015.   No official word from Ping yet, however.

This lends credence to the theory that the Ketsch was just too costly and troublesome to mill and that margins were too thin.   Why they didn't raise prices, I dunno.   But it would explain why they would want to cancel back-orders because each one represented a loss.   So they let their pro's continue to play the Ketsch 1, build up momentum, re-tool and re-launch with an easier to produce head that looks physically similar and maybe they've prepped the way for a Ketsch 2 success.  A PGA win for the bad putting Westwood with a Ketsch would go a long way towards that.

Mark if Westwood wins the PGA then Ping will be able to charge 500 bucks for any future ketsch!

If thats the case I hope its not simply the same putter. As much as I would love to just get my hands on a ketsch I would not be as willing to drop the same or more money on something that is essentially the same but with a ketsch II label. If they do release a second model I hope they follow how they do every new club release and try and improve the original design as much as they can and bring out an even better putter

The rumor mill is coalescing around the "too expensive to mill" theory and it believes that a look-alike, but differently-manufactured Ketsch II is coming.

But absolutely nothing I'm hearing is official.   This is just scuttlebutt that is seeping into the vacuum left by the lack of anything real from Ping.

Yesterday I was at my local golf store, and they still have the same 2 Ketsch putters they got after their demo days sale in May.

I have now been told twice I was going to have a response and it has been pushed back both times.  I will share my opinion once I hear theirs.

I've just learned that I'm the only one in the country selling a Ketsch on Ebay right now.   Does that mean they are hot or not?   I guess we'll soon see.

I'll shut up about this putter and let the thread die.  The fact that there is a real answer and they don't want to share it, or let you MGS repeat it unless you stick to the script, is absurd and I don't care anymore.

I have my Ketsch.  I got it while the gettin' was good.  I'll use it to win matches till someone pries it from my cold dead fingers or I get the yips and switch.  I should be happier that my competition can't get their hands on one, but somehow I'm just sad.

Went in Dicks the other day. Saw this: http://imgur.com/ax8ltuF

Should I pick one up?

I don't see a Ketsch in that photo.  But 159 would be a good price for one.
