JBones
If you were starting a golf company (clubs, balls, apparel) from the ground up, who would you want as the face of your company? It can be anybody, but it has to be somebody as they are today, not in their prime. It has been said that nobody could or ever will be able to move equipment like Tiger Woods in his prime. Are Jack and Arnold still relevant enough that they could move equipment? Terry Koehler is betting that Ben Hogans name can. Me personally, I go with Tiger. His name is still in lights and we HOPE that he has enough left in the tank to return and win 20 more tourneys. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on who/why would move equipment today. cksurfdude 1 Quote Follow @GolfspyBones
GolfSpy Barbajo
First thought was Hogan, but I'm old and Ben is a hero. He's a close second to Rory - Rory is hot and the next year or so will really tell whether he takes that leap. No reason why he can't - he's young, good looking, charismatic and is a playah! Ben is a legend, and that name will always have juice with folks who follow the game - but as with anything, the product has to be worthy of the name. cksurfdude 1 Quote What's in the bag: Driver: TSR3; DynaPWR Carbon FW Wood: DynaPWR 3-wood; TSR 2+ Hybrids: PXG Gen4 18-degree Utility Irons: ZX MkII 20* Irons:; 699/699 Pro V2 Combo; D9 Forged; MT86 (coming soon!); VIP 1025 V-Foil MB/CB; Wedges: RTX6 Zipcore Putter: HB Soft Milled 10.5; Newport Special Select; Willamette, BB8; 8802; MATI Monto Ball: Tour B RXS; Z-STAR Diamond; Triad Stat Tracker/GPS Watch: Follow @golfspybarbajo
Kenny B
If it has to be somebody today, then I guess Ben is out. Too bad, I could go with that. So I choose Jack. Yes, he and Arnie are still relevant, especially to us old guys. In my mind, Tiger is too controversial, both on and off the course. Now injury prone; no majors in over six years, and not that personable. Rory hasn't been around long enough; maybe in a few more years. Phil's personable, but streaky and he's not on a good streak right now. The other guys? Well... no. cksurfdude 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

markb
Anyone who moves the needle, don't care if they are jerks or not. Will they sell clubs or cars or hats or insurance? That is the question. My guess is that Bubba moves the needle more for Ping than Adam does for Titleist. Likewise, Ricky is a needle mover who doesn't win much. Arnold and Jack's names will do more to move real estate devopments than any of the others. I just read an article about Dwayne The Rock Johnson, the focus of which dealt with his promotional savvy. He gets roles because producers know that he will promote the crap out of whatever film he is in and he has a huge fan base overseas. He's a needle mover. cksurfdude and JBones 2 Quote bag - SunMountain Synch with Ogio Synergy X4 cartdriver - Optiforce 440, Paderson Kevlar Green stiff 46.5"fwoods - Jetspeed, 3HL regularirons - Speedblades 3-8, 85g stiff steel, 2 upwedges - Scor 40, 45, 50, 54, 58putter - Ketsch 35" slight arc, SuperStroke 2.0 mid-slimball - ProV1x

Mr_Theoo
This is a tough one. I chose Rory over Tiger because of age and the way Rory approaching the game on and off the course. revkev
JBones Okay since he's taken I'm going Rory out of the choices given here but ultimately it depends upon who I'm trying to reach. BTW this is so relevant for me. We are trying to select the face of our capital campaign in our Congregation. It's not as easy as you might think. The generational issues are very real and that's in a group of 1,000. Imagine what these companies have to go through. RookieBlue7
I chose Rors because of his current status and the fact that he can move gear regardless of manufacturer. I have to agree with you here that if I were going based on as they play today it HAS to be Rory. Tiger already has the "TW" brand.. even if its a line within Nike. I'd say Rory has the most upside of those mentioned which would play well with success on tour and your products being seen.
