BIG STU
My favorite one and I do say it when you got people searching for a lost ball forever "Good Lord if you can't afford another ball I will give you a couple if you will just move on" The best one I ever heard was from a friend of mine who is a retired Funeral Director. We had some super old farts holding up a course one day and the rangers were non existant. He rode up to them on the next tee and said "You people are slower than slow and I have buried people that move faster than you do" I have also done this within earshot of some of these Tommy Tourist Golfers when they are taking all day lining up putts from 3 or 4 directions and leaving a 20 footer 10 feet short. " Now in this group we have Palmer Nicklaus and Player and Mr Palmer is looking at this double bogey putt from 3 sides ohh nooo he has missed the break by 4 feet" Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- 5W TM V-Steel Fubuki 60r--- 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R----- 9 W TM V Steel TM MAS stiff---- Irons 2015 TM TP CB Steel Fiber 95 R--- GW Callaway Mack Daddy 2 52* shaft unknown junk pile refugee. Dhuck Whooker
We could yell "Fire", but that probably wouldn't work, especially with golfers. I believe this is all based on perspective. George Carlin said this once about driving, in a car, not a golf ball. Whoever is in front of you is a moron and they are picking their a--, and whoever is behind you is tailgating you and driving like a crazy mo' fo'. Yes, whoever is in front of us are slow goofs who take too many practice swings, spend too much time looking for balls, don't play ready golf, spend too much time lining up putts, mark their scores near the green instead going to the next tee, sit in the cart and watch their partner hit, then drive 10 yards and the other guy gets out and hits, etc. Whoever is behind us are always pushing us, hitting into us, are impatiently standing in the fairway or on the tee box with the arms crossed with annoying smirks on their faces, you can feel them breathing down on our necks. The only way to avoid this to be hardy like Kenny B. Golfing in 26 degrees and 15 MPH winds will fix the congestion problem for sure. Damn, that is some manly stuff. revkev
Well, in Tampa with Rev, Foz and Jax it was "we can't play any faster a-holes... We're waiting on a group ahead" I forgot about that incident. The Marshall actually was harassing us when we were waiting over nearly every shot. Jax and I had a similar experience at TPC Sawgrass. We were playing with one of the assistant pros and moving along fine. I think our round took 4 1/2 hours there complete with the requisite 2 or 3 balls and picture poses on 17. We almost never even saw the group behind us after the 2nd hole and I'm certain they never waited on us. We certainly weren't being slowed down by the group ahead but we had to wait on shots a couple of times. In mid round the Marshall came up to us and said, "while we're young." I thought the pro was going to blow a gasket. He called the clubhouse furious about the guy. So the moral of this story must be that Jaxsonville Beach Packer fan and I play slow. .i Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60 Aldila R flex - 42.25 inches SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft Ping G410 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Srixon ZX5 MK II 5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex India 52,56 (60 pending) UST recoil 75's R flex Evon roll ER 5 32 inches It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD
Kenny B
Yes, but KennyB is a masochist and hard core...we're a bunch of soft kittens in comparisson. It's 44 and raining; supposed to get to 60. I'm not playing in the rain because this is the desert and I don't have to. Purr. In mid round the Marshall came up to us and said, "while we're young." I thought the pro was going to blow a gasket. He called the clubhouse furious about the guy. So the moral of this story must be that Jaxsonville Beach Packer fan and I play slow. .i Most course marshalls don't survey the situation before try to move people along. Aggravating, and it can ruin a round. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
revkev
The TPC one may have ruined that marshall's plum job - he should have considered who was in the group as well as the course situation. While the assistant pro playing with his was not his direct supervisor (had he been the guy would have been terminated for sure) it was foolish to think that he would not talk to his boss and have influence with him particularly when it could be easily documented that we were ahead of pace for our round. We heard the pro on the phone with the guy's boss and his point was obvious, even had we been behind pace you would never, ever treat a customer who was paying the type of money that TPC typically commands that way - you'd say (Gentlemen, please - and not some snarky sarcastic remark.) Jax, the pros Dad and myself - we laughed at off - but we weren't paying $400 for our rounds either. markb
Today I had to say, "SOOORRRRRY!" as I hit into a 3-cart, 6 golfer group of senior tee duffers. I rolled a 3 wood between their legs on the 9th green (a par 5). They kicked my ball into a trap and I can't really blame them. I didn't actually mean to hit at them. You see these seniors turned out to be private-cart-owning, handicap-flag-using seniors -- the kind who drive their carts right up to the edge of greens. Two of them had parked near the front of the green as I was waiting with my 3 wood about 250 out, they hit and got back in their carts and drove around to the back exit road (because why walk 75 feet when you can drive, right?) But they hadn't putted out. I took their boarding their carts at the front of the green as a sign they were done and so I put my head down and went into my routine. When I piped one right up the throat I looked up and saw that all six were still on the back of the green. Fortunately, my shot hit short, bounced twice before the green and only rolled right into their group. I was yelling Sorrry before the ball even stopped. bag - SunMountain Synch with Ogio Synergy X4 cartdriver - Optiforce 440, Paderson Kevlar Green stiff 46.5"fwoods - Jetspeed, 3HL regularirons - Speedblades 3-8, 85g stiff steel, 2 upwedges - Scor 40, 45, 50, 54, 58putter - Ketsch 35" slight arc, SuperStroke 2.0 mid-slimball - ProV1x
