On a par 3 when your divot with the tee still in it goes 10 yards and the ball never moved. (Wasn't me!)

I did this on a Par 5 last year.....The only thing in the Fairway was a catch basin drain.  I guess my Bridgestone B330RXS went down the drain.  I had to go back & retee.....missed the payout by 2 strokes...

Sometimes you don't have to find the ball to take relief from a drain.

 

b. Ball in Immovable Obstruction Not Found

If it is known or virtually certain that a ball that has not been found is in an immovable obstruction, the player may take relief under this Rule. If he elects to do so, the spot where the ball last crossed the outermost limits of theobstruction must be determined and, for the purpose of applying this Rule, the ball is deemed to lie at this spot and the player must proceed as follows:

A similar rule applies to Abnormal Ground Conditions, such as casual water.  The difficulty comes in defining what is "known or virtually certain", especially when you're competing in a large event.  You could consider playing two balls, one assuming a lost ball, one assuming the Obstruction ate it the original, and ask for a ruling when the round is done.

I did manage to lose a ball down a squirrel hole last week... playing partner was LAUGHING cause he watched it go in

Your par putts on one and two lip out on either side and your striped tee shot on 3 lands in a deep divot leaving you a 185 yard uphill shot over a hazard.
