Ok... since we have a music thread for practice, How about a music thread for what you like to listen to on and off the course?

Anything goes!

I'm an old school metal head, but I have a very eclectic taste in music. I'll start with an artist I posted in the other thread. Her name is Beth Hart and I've been a fan for a long time. Lets hear what ya got!

I too, have a pretty broad taste in music and enjoy Jazz, Blues, Rock from the 50s through the 90s and both Country AND Western ;)

When I'm working in my shop, or practicing my swing with the simulator, I generally listen to Jazz.(Dave Sanborn, Rippingtons, George Duke, etc).

Don't listen to music when practicing; can't focus.

I'm with Foz on music for the course; most anything from 1968-1980, from John Kay and Steppenwolf to Donna Summer. Yeah, disco!

My wife always plays with music. She can hear a mouse f@rt from 50 yards so she has to block out noise from adjacent groups and people we play with, including me! She calls it her "spousal filter". Her music is eclectic; oldies, jazz, new age, light rap.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Thank you! it's time to educate you rednecks and hillbillies! Remember - I lived in Iowa and had to live with Travis Tritt and Deana Carter. I stood out when I listende to Prodigy and Leftfield before our soccer matches :D

We'll start with some Norwegians. Kygo - his name is Kyrre and he's from my hometown Bergen - is a musical genius. Pure brilliance.

Second video is Store P. Best rapper in Norway. Also from Bergen! It's seriously the music capital of Norway. And the world, to be honest and modest.

Third and fourth video is Lars Vaular. And he is from.......? ;) He gets two videos because sliced bread is nothing compared to him.

I'm not going to bother you with Ylvis - The Fox. I just want to mention that they're from......YES! Proud to say that one of them is a friend. Great guys.

And good people of mygolfspy.com - listen to music in other languages than English. French music is awesome.

Second lesson!

Amazing young woman - Gabrielle. First two are from the Nobel concert. I'm sure not a single soul saw it, but she was fantastic. Usually sings in Norwegian, she's from Bergen. Yes - she actually sings and has a fantastic voice.

I feel that I have to apologize for everyone over here being so awesome :D If it's any comfort, our currency is 20% weaker against the USD compared to just a few weeks ago ;)

I'll listen to pretty much anything that isn't Justin Beiber. That said my truck is currently on country radio. When playing I usually play Nirvana or Sublime radio on Spotify. I also mix in a Johnny Cash station, Led Zepplin, Jay-Z, and The Black Keys from time to time.

Rap, Country, Rock, Metal, Classic Rock, even some current Pop from time to time. The best adjective I can come up with for most of my playlists is Eclectic

I don't listen to anything while playing or if I'm on the range, but I listen to music in my car. My preferences mainly include different types of rock, some metal and some country. I don't like rap or pop songs at all, just not my thing. I may have a couple songs but for the most part I don't like it.

On the way to the course for a match I'll angry up the blood with a bit of something lively; beastie boys, early foo fighters, smashing pumpkins.... Or the band I've seen the most in my life, The Prodigy (oh my god I love Prodigy so much).

the prodigys first album released when I was about 13 and they've kind of been my soundtrack through my life - not sure what that says about me given their songs include Firestarter and Smack my Bi@ch Up.

I do listen when doing putting practice - its background ambient stuff like Massive Attack (probably the most famous band from Bristol, Uk). Currently loving the band Mogwai; Furu you might have seen the French Drama Les Revenants? They did the soundtrack for that.

Also love Royksopp, got a few of their albums - that might be my only Norwegian music though.

In the car - leave the iPod on shuffle; and hope mrs Westy hasn't been buying Beyoncé again!

If anyone wants to try some Bristol style music - try out Massive Attack or the early kings of trip hop Portishead.

Rest in peace long sticks - I'll remember you

I am a big CSNY fan and I am waiting for the box set to arrive.  About two weeks ago I can hear my middle daughter in the playroom singing and could not make out what it was at first.  Walk into the playroom and she has my guitar and Southern Cross playing on the iPad trying to play along with it and sing.  I say that is solid parenting right there.

Gregorian Chant and Acapella music up to the Baroque.

I certainly listen to Rock of my era and love jazz of all types particularly of the Latin variety.  Can you say trumpets loud and high!

I was a trumpet major in college and fancied myself a symphonic trumpet player at one time.  The closest I got was the circus as a player or the first balcony at Carnegie hall when I bought my ticket. :)

I saw Rory Gallegher live in 1972, in a double-bill with Savoy Brown.  Great performer!

I listen to a huge variety of music, but never on the range or the course.  The one thing I like to listen to as I'm driving into the parking lot is Mac The Knife, the classic Bobby Darin version.  For some reason, his patience and timing with the lyrics gives me a good image of a smooth tempo swing with a very late release.

For you fans of Joe Bonamassa, you might want to give a listen to Danny Gatton.  Danny was a mentor for Joe when Joe was just a kid.
