fozcycle
I took my Bio Cell with me to Gsmith. After a brief warm up, the fitter handed me an aerospeed to hit....very straight about 210 yards. Then she gave me the R15 with one weight in the middle and one on the inside. Hit very straight about 223. Then I hit my Bio Cell about 206 ....but it was set at 11.5* rather than 10.5 line the others. So, for $429 less $100 trade in I am not pulling the trigger for 10 to 15 yards, especially when my Cobra was set at a higher launch. But I did get a sleeve of TAylor Preferred X balls. GolfSpy Barbajo
Went in today with my Nike Vapor Pro and my backup - a Cleveland XL Classic. The results were not pretty -- couldn't hit the R15 anywhere near either of my gamers. Nike was in the 255 carry range, while the Cleveland was around 250. Both had lots of roll, but in a simulator that doesn't mean much. Couldn't hit the R15 anywhere near that - best carry was around 245 or so with nowhere near as much roll. The stock shaft/head combo was simply too spinny (same problem I had with the SLDR) - spins were in the 3500 to 4000 range with the R15. The Nike ranged from 1900 to 2500 and the Cleveland from 2400 to 2900. I would seriously like to try the R15 at some point with a custom shaft - but right off the shelf it didn't do anything for me compared to the custom fit Nike, and it actually trailed the stock Cleveland. It would probably be side by side with the SLDR, with the exact same shaft, but I didn't even think about putting mine in it. I was looking for something to kick the SLDR out of the bag, but so far it can't be done. With that being said, I was trying upgraded shafts, but none of them were my gamer. I still want to try the Vapor Flex and Fly-Z. Follow @GolfspyBones
Undershooter
My question for everyone: does the r15 not feel 100 times better than the sldr? Numbers were similar with both for me and I didn't get to try either with a shaft that was close to fitting me but I thought the sldr felt terrible. The r15 on the other hand felt great.
