Quick impressions of the 915d3, R15, and Aeroburner

With the square drivers, they're able to shift CG's so that they don't have to be square in shape. It did demostrate the concept visually which was like a sales aid, but it didn't do anything for performance being square beyond other methods shifting CG's via different materials, etc. In fact, at the time, I seem to recall reading analysis that square was counter-productive for how the head rotated during the swing. I think it was short-lived for a reason, and the Nike's brash *cough* sound helped the exodus.

Trust me no one is happier that these things failed than I. Still we had a major winner with one, come to think of it why wasn't Cink mentioned in that thread? I guess that's how forgettable his win was. Everyone remembers Watson's improbable run and tragic 18th hole collapse.

I had first hand experience with an ill fitted SLDR yesterday, whether there was intent to have a loft up campaign or the issue of the need to loft up was discovered after the fact I totally get why the club is controversial. Get into the wrong loft and its very hard to hit. However at this point if you are looking for a driver at a great price point and you have a positive AoA I'd say loft way up and give it a whirl. All the things that make it bad without enough loft make it a an appealing option in the right set up.

I think Cink used the other Sasquatch model that was round in shape? They weren't far off from one another; both had very heavy heads in the retail iteration and were all about MOI based mostly on sheer head weight. Cink's was probably different based on my impressions of the retail ones. Others like the Cobra L4V were similar heavy high moi heads at the time too. And lo and behold, you are seeing this once again with many heads in the 206+g range and backweighted shafts. Wait a few years and it all goes full circle.

I haven't hit the 915 yet. I was hoping it was an improvement over the 913 in some way. It sounds like I'll just stay with my 913.... like I should have stayed with my 910. At this point, it is going to take some kind of amazing technological breakthrough to really make much more difference in driver performance, IMO.

I tried the Aero and was really not a fan. I want to try the 915 sometime this week.
