My Paderson Test Shaft has Arrived!

Same here, delivery window is 11:45am - 3:45pm.  Hopefully that's true, my last few UPS delivery's didn't show up until around 7pm.

Yea I don't know why they try and fool us. I know for a fact my delivery guy shows up around 5 everyday. Just in time for me to be at home.

My wife called.  She had heard a similar barking sound and sure enough a package arrived that looked, "golfy."  I'm also awaiting the arrival of a hybrid purchased on ebay -

My shaft has arrived as well. The weave really is cool for a look. Can't wait to get it into my driver. Hoping this gorgeous weather holds out.

The shaft is here. Now I just need the new adapter to hurry up. Really liking the looks of the shaft. Should go very well with the theme of my bag.

It was the shaft. I got home from work around 9 last night. I haven't opened it yet but will this mornin. Just waiting on my adapter to arrive and I will take over to my club repair guy. I should be able to hit some shots by the end of this week.

 

It's supposed to be cold so I may start with the LM. Usually I like to start a test outside, range to course and save the LM for last. But as I get older playing golf when it's in the low 50's has lost its luster. I live in South Florida for crying out loud.

Ice everywhere with high winds this morning...  Planned on getting to town and getting the shaft installed in my spare adapter but it looks like that's going to happen tomorrow, at the earliest...

 

I think the "weave" on the shaft is very distinctive and attractive.  I'm really antsy now that the shaft is here, but I can't do anything but stare at it...

Shaft has arrived! Now if my grips and tip would get here we could get going. In the meantime, I'll get working on my unboxing and get it to Bones.

I'm hoping to make it to town tomorrow to get the shaft installed and gripped, and get some pictures while I'm there to include in the "un-boxing/initial impressions" section of our review.

 

I've got some pictures of the box it shipped in & the shaft itself, but they probably look pretty much like everybody else's

Road conditions look better today, so I'm planning to get the shaft installed in my "spare" adapter today.

 

Ice and wind yesterday was so bad the local news had about 10 minutes of coverage on accident reports and interviews last night...  Glad I stayed home!

 

At least I got some fresh launch monitor data on the stock shaft that came with my driver, and that's the one that's getting pulled for the Paderson.

Okay I'm tired of feeling like boob here - I've asked several people about this without a direct answer.  Hopefully someone here will help and in the end it doesn't matter because my club repair guy will figure it out:

 

Obviously the shaft is full length (46").  If the tip is already prepared does the repair guy cut the top of the shaft to get it to the proper length?

 

I know how equipment performs, I don't know as much or in fact much of anything about how to repair it.

You're club guy will do this already, but you are correct.  Paderson did a 1" tip prep already, with the SLDR adapter he will probably sand down a little more.  Insertion depth is 1.5" on those.  Once the tip is installed he will cut the butt end down to your desired playing length.

 

Instructions from Paderson are to butt cut only, no tip cutting allowed.

I wanted to start off with the shaft cut at the "stock" 46" length, but I'll probably get it cut to match the Fujikura EXS that I've been using sometime next week.

 

If I can manage to control the Paderson at 46" as well as I do the other shaft, that will be great but if not, then it's a more accurate comparison to match the shaft length I'm used to, anyway.

 

I've been gone most of the day and have to be away for most of the next couple of days, so I won't really be able to spend as much time as I'd like until the weekend.

I'm using the 913 D2 as my "Apples to Apples," since I have 2 adapters for it and wasn't using the stock Bassara shaft anymore.  Made sure the fitter had the installation instructions when he installed the shaft but didn't remember I'd had the Fujikura cut down until I got home and compared the shafts side by side...

 

If I'm lucky, I'll be able to control the Paderson as-is, this weekend.  Anyway, now that I've noticed it, I'll match the length anyway, just to get the data to compare with the shafts at equal lengths.

Honestly? I have no idea, I just made it the same as my other shaft. I never actually measured it after the trip to The Kingdom. I should probably put that on the to do list...
