SPY VIP Tony Covey MGS Posted February 27, 2015 Author SPY VIP Share Posted February 27, 2015 No idea how they don't have a patent clash for the face plate tech with Leupold? Short answer is I have no idea, but patents are strange things. Lot's off loopholes, and it's possible to be overly-descriptive in how a device/technology functions. It could be a simple as a some small thing in exactly how the face plate connects. Could also be a licensing issue, or a trade-off for a patent violation that happened the other way. It's called horse trading and it happens all the time in the golf industry. Basically company A 'borrows' a bit of patented technology from company B and rather than deal with litigation, company A agrees to owe company B one at a later date. Basically it becomes an IOU situation. It's a lot more common than people might imagine, even among competitors. MyGolfSpy is only major golf site that refuses advertising from large golf companies. mr_divots
Yeah, it was a bit rhetorical. I am familiar. Obama changed the patent system from "first to market" to "first to file" when he took office. That's a big change. Major advantage to the largest corporations in the world. Very dangerous. MDGolfHacker
Mushii: First, welcome! Hope to see you posting more in the forums. Secondly, this is an old post from 2015 so this range finder isn't so new anymore You can probably still get them at all the local retailers in your area and online. Bushnell came out with a new series called the Pro X2, and the Tour V4 Shift/ Tour V4. Specs are on the Bushnell's website http://bushnellgolf.com/laser-rangefinders/pro-x2/ My Golf Spy may have testing opportunities for these products in the future (just guessing).
