Adam Scott puts conventional putter in play

Didn't think I'd see him switch before he absolutely had to. Maybe he feels so confident with aim point that he could make the switch easier on him.

I'm not surprised to see him switch to a short putter, now is as good a time as any.

I am extremely surprised that he went Odyssey instead of Scotty though.

Must be extremely disappointing for Mr.Scotty. The Futura X5 is more or less made for Adam Scott. Choosing a competitors similar putter - with a cheap insert - that's like giving Scotty a slap in the face with one of his $300 headcovers.

I'm very curious about how he will putt this week.  I hope he sticks with it the rest of the year rather than go back and forth.

Over the years he has been a terrible putter and it probably cost him a few wins and maybe a major or two.  What is really interesting was that he was #1 in Strokes Gained Putting in 2004 (I hate myself for saying this, but Tiger was #2  ).  Then he fell the next year into the 100's with his worse rankings of 178 in 2008,180 in 2009, and 186 in 2010.  In 2011 he switched to the long putter but still ranked around 144 for the next two years.  Last year, he improved to #55 and he won a major.

I honestly don't know why he fell from #1 to #186.  It would be interesting to know.  I think he could do really well with the short putter this year if he has gotten over whatever it was that started back in 2005.  I say, "Watch out!"

Aging sucks...  Are you tough enough to get old?

Really surprised he is not using a Scotty. You would think he would want the same feel off the face and the Futura X5 is almost the same look.

Does Cameron even do counter-balanced? Not surprised by the Odyssey if the answer is "no."

Yes they do. It's called Dual Balance.

Played with X5, X5R and X5 Dual Balance in February. Excellent putters. X5 DB is the best counter balance I've used.

I still don't understand the anchor rule. I would say ban it if they never miss a putt or something. It made Scott a better putter but for God's sake it's in no way the be all end all of putters.
