I have posted before that in February I ordered the 2019 Callaway PM grind 54º to replace my SCOR 54º. I custom ordered it from 2ndSwing with the KBS Tour 90 R shaft, +0.5" length, 2º flat lie and 4 wraps under the grip. It took a month to get because Callaway didn't have the Tour 90 shaft in stock, even though it was a free upgrade. I like the club a lot, btw. So, last month I placed an order for the Callaway PM grind 60º, same specs. I got a confirmation that it was coming from Mexico and was in customs. Got it in 2 weeks. BUT... different shaft, KBS Tour-V 90 Stiff. It also didn't feel like it had 4 wraps under the grip. I replaced the grip with my Pure DTX grip and yep... no wraps. I played with it for a couple of weeks, but it didn't feel like the 54º and the yardage gap between the two was too much. I contacted 2ndSwing and they ordered a new club for me. They also sent me a return label for FedEX. Again, it took a few weeks to get because of the shaft but I could keep playing the other 60º until I got the new one. It arrived Tuesday and I sent the other club back yesterday. This club came at my request with the grip separate form the club so I could put my Pure grip on without cutting off their grip. I have hated my current setup all season and try as I may, I have little faith. They work but they could always be better. So I took a ride to my local shop where I worked in college. The blue chip guys who are close to retirement still work there and they're wonderful. Unfortunately, none were free to help get me squared away. So I walk in and say I know what I need, two low bounce wedges, whatever you have in demos to try and in a 52 and a 58 and I will try anything except Callaway. The salesman says woah, slow down and proceeds to give me the sales pitch about bounce. After ten minutes he came outside and we talked about working there and he figured out I didn’t need to be sold. So here they are...I cannot believe I did this but I love the look of that 52 with a teardrop. The rep told me that the Mansion is different from the Rome I have in that the Mansion actually helps increase ball speed. It has a “kick” from the mid-section, yet keeps the dispersion tight. He says he’s hitting his driver longer, AND straighter! Goes into the G400 LST tomorrow, hopefully, for a range session, if not just hitting some drives off the tee box on a few holes at our public course. It’s a matte black shaft, with white and gray script. I bought them when TaylorMade came out with the Burner line of clubs. I can't remember ever using it in the rain; maybe on a trip many years ago, IDK. However, I have used mine a lot on my pushcart for shade in the summer. I live in the desert... if it's raining, I wait 10 minutes; if it's going to rain, I don't play until it stops. Since she was away, she asked me to open it up and check the grips. FYI, I checked the grips but I'm not about to unwrap the clubs - that would be akin to unwrapping her Christmas presents.
