What Have You Bought Lately? (CHA - Club Ho's Anonymous)

It was like an early Christmas at the Chunks household today. I came home to three boxes! One contained the Lamkin grips I bought from chisag and the other two held Spy Guy shorts I ordered on the flash sale. The white grips are going to look classy once they're installed on my Hogan's, I can't wait to see it. The shirts are great quality and super soft. 20200917_175517-02.jpeg.efb4dc2e01acc23ea6ca9fb479f9db56.jpeg

EVNROLL ER2B.  Yeah, the MGS "Most Wanted" rating had me curious, so I picked it up having no intention of buying anything, ever.  Big mistake, an hour later it was in my bag.

I did the responsible thing and got fit, and compared several others, but this was a clear winner for me. I like the look of a blade over a mallet, so a wide face-balanced blade is a perfect compromise/solution for me.

I've gamed the Scotty for 6 years and was fit for that too, but 4 years ago I switched to left-hand low and haven't looked back, and about that time became a Dave Stockton believer, so a straight-back straight-through motion and a new grip meant the toe-balanced Scotty really wasn't a good fit anymore.  But, I love that putter and I made it work for a long time.  The feel of this thing is great though, and the Sweet Face tech is no joke.  Give it a try and you'll see what I mean.

Oooo you're gonna love it! I've only grown to love mine more and more!

Ebay is your solution. or BST

Ebay would be Ok for the driver head but I would also need the aftermarket shaft I was fit for.  Possibly could find both but maybe not and even if I did the possible slow down in shipping times may not make much of a difference.  Even if I could save a little time and some money I would rather support a local business that I have been dealing with a few years that has treated me well.  As a business owner myself I understand that relationships matter.

I love my Evnroll ER7. I fully agree on the face technology and I really like that’s a on the heavier side. It feels great. It replaced an Odyssey Metal X milled #2 putter.  I can’t lie though, I occasionally find myself looking at Scottys and Bettinardis because of the looks. I might be guilty of being drawn to “wall hangers”.

Big props to the PGASS and :EVNROLL:!!!!

I ordered a custom length ER5 Hatchback on Sunday. The salesman told me to be patient, because most custom orders have been taking 3-4 weeks due to Covid.

My neighbor texted me this morning there's been a package at my door from late last night. I go check, and... my putter is here!! Evenroll getting this to me in 3 days is just incredible. For example, I ordered PXG irons on 9/3, and they won't even be built until the 23rd (hopefully).

I'd love to take this to the putting green right now, but after 6 inches of rain yesterday, I'm afraid it will get rusty... 🤣

Picked up Cleveland CBX2 54° & 58° wedges Saturday along with a Mavrik 3 wood.  Because of all of the rain today was the 1st day I was able to use them.  Three birds today is all the testimony I need for those wedges, they are awesome.  Love the added height I am getting with the Mavrik.

Fortunately, I bargain shop and (as you can see) play the non-big brand GigaGolf primarily. All in I'm still well south of $1000 on everything, but still I think I'm done for a bit. Buying clubs gets addictive.

...so GigaGolf had a demo set of my exact same irons (which I really like) 5-PW in my specs, but with the same graphite shafts as my hybrids (and I really want to try graphite shafted irons) for like $120 shipped. I had to buy them. Absolutely no choice.

EDIT: I came up with a somewhat valid justification! I feel like my gapping between the 4h and the 5i is a bit too big and my PW and AW is a bit too tight. Getting graphite in these might just give me a couple more yards and slot right in where I want my gapping to be.

2024 is the year of the short set!

Let us know if you see right misses with the SIM Max.
The Sim Max was delivered yesterday so I hit a few balls into the field. Definitely faded on me last night so I went to the range for a quick half bucket and the right miss was very much evident. I couldn't turn it over to save my life. I have a round set for tomorrow morning but I think the Max D would be better suited for me especially when I hate seeing the ball go right.

On another note I ordered some Srixon Z765 irons to mess around with. I have heard nothing but great things about them so it is time to see what the fuss is all about.

Yeah, SIM Max, if my swing is just a small tiny bit off, then I hit a big push fade.

Even though it is for sale I took it out this morning and put it away after 3 holes. I hit a big push fade in the first so I decided to aim left edge of fairway on 2 and 3 and let it fade back.  This was a terrible idea for me after working so hard to eliminate the right miss. Not only did it not work for the Max, it screwed up the rest of my swings. I am a head case on the course when I can’t find my swing and today was no exception. Gonna have to find a Max D or just move on to something else.

Haven't bought it yet, but I did schedule a fitting for a L.A.B. Directed Force 2.1 putter. The more I keep reading about them (and watching YouTube videos), the more I'm really interested in one. I actually have putted really well (for me) the last two times out by just being focused on being less hunched over - which has solved my speed control and start line issues.

This would have been the time of year I would have wanted to pull the trigger on a Skytrak (which I've gotten the wife to commit to), but they are 3-4 months delayed due to the additional demand. That means I wouldn't get it until around January, and by that point hopefully I'm only 6-8 weeks away from playing actual golf again. I'll stick to the local heated range for this winter and maybe next year will be a better year for a Skytrak/similar purchase.

Point is, I've been looking for a Christmas/birthday present to myself, and the DF seems like it would be a good fit. It's going to be pricey when all said and done, but hopefully it's the last putter purchase for quite some time.

There site says it has 22deg of toe hang. Is it really face balanced then? I game a Las Vegas stroke lab but the evnroll love has got me thinking.

Yeah, that’s fair, it’s an exaggeration to say it’s face-balanced...should have said more face-balanced in comparison to my old putter.   It’s just a lot less hang than my Scotty.  A little hang is better for me since my stroke isn’t quite straight back straight through.

Just looked it up, that putter seems like it could open some very large bottles!

Lol. Yes, it is very reminiscent of a gigantic can opener. If it helps me make more putts though... I'm good with it!

I know that pain I tended to get golf stuff for my birthday and then get to play once before having to wait all winter for another round with them. Not the ideal way to break in some new clubs, but sometimes the deal is too good to pass up.

Yeah fall birthdays and living in Iowa doesn’t always work well when getting golf equipment.

I will say that my 40th is Friday so I’m hoping for some gift cards or just money to replenish my PayPal lol

I was able to convince my wife to just let me pick it out so super speed golf is on the way for some winter training.

Well a Sim Max D 9* head is on the way to me. If I can’t make the D work, I guess that will end my Sim experiment.

Maybe I can talk the wife into a TSi3 for my birthday!
