What Have You Bought Lately? (CHA - Club Ho's Anonymous)

I received my first Mullybox since I renewed. Not too impressed this time around. A money clip (?), and a scorecard holder that I won't use. I don't usually carry cash and I use my app to keep score. A pretty decent Mullybox cap, their usual bag of tees that I also don't use and two sleeves of Vice Drive which I kind of like.

I have gotten some really cool items from them in the past which I use regularly, so I'll give it another month or two to see if the swag gets better.

In the MotoreX thread, I was talking about how the adapter epoxy had failed.. so in my complaining to the Mrs about how I had to get my driver fixed, she just said "well how much is a new one?".. and then that turned into "just go buy one". 😱🤯. I nearly $#!t myself.

I ended up with the SIM Max 9°. I also had the cobra tip removed and a TM adapter put on.

Will be doing a comparison today with the stock Ventus (no Velocore) and the MotoreX. Pretty sure I know the verdict but it will be fun to do anyway.

filling two bags is a serious chore. i’m just about done setting up my “main” or “home” bag and am starting to realize i need a setup for when i’m down in florida.

i’ll likely do that in much the same way you are - hunting around for bargains and putting it together piece meal. that’ll be the bag i experiment with some club choices on as well.

First things first...

I realize most guys in this thread are probably aware of this, but Callaway Preowned started their Black Friday sales today. There are some great deals to be had there right now.

Speaking of which, I just finished setting up my second bag thanks to them. I just ordered a like new condition Epic Flash 3 wood with an Evenflow shaft for $126. I'll end up paying $40 bucks for it after return a Rogue 5 wood (failed experiment, I'm a 3 hybrid fan)

If the Flash performs as well as my Rogue, I'll be vey happy, and will be all finished with my "second set". I have a Flash driver that I bought back in May when the head in my G400 Max cracked at the hosel. Ping was closed at the time due to covid and since I had no idea when they'd reopen, I needed to pick up another driver. My favorite ebay seller (KSouth) had the Flash brand new for $230 and it's right up there with the new 400 Max PING sent me in late June.

So as of now, the 1st bag is what's in my Signature, and the "Long Island" bag will probably be made up of

Epic Flash 10.5*

Rogue 3 wood

Rogue X 3&4 hybrids

Rogue X 5-AW

MD4 52* & 56*

YES! Tracy putter

Just my opinion, but the shafts in the Super Hybrid are kind of stout. The Super hybrids are great for very fast swingers, but don't sleep on the Rogue X hybrids, they're very long.

About a month ago I was in the PGASS and they had a used 17* Super with the regular flex Aerotech shaft in it for a great price. I hit it on the sim, but even though it went dead straight, I couldn't elevate it enough to get more than 165-170 out of it.

If you're looking for a "distance" hybrid that's really long, and easy to hit, check out the Rogue X 18* 3 hybrid. I hit mine 180 off the deck and 190 off a tee.

I just picked up some new Cobra hybrids lofted at 19,21 and 24. I'm going to hit the 21* first and see how it gaps with my Rogue X 18*. I have a feeling that's what I'll end up keeping in the bag. I don't expect the Cobra 4 to go as far as my Rogue X 4 hybrid, but I'm thinking it will gap better with my 0211 5 iron. The X is too long.

The Rogue X hybrids are a great combination of forgiveness and distance.

I grabbed one this morning literally minutes after getting the email. Couldn't pass up the price, considering I lost out on one on eBay Friday that went for ~$40 more than what CPO was priced at this morning.

Ahh, okay. I'm not sure how that would compare with the Aerotech regular? Id assume the one I hit was a custom... either way, I think an 80 gram hybrid shaft might be too much for me.

To be honest, I'm nervous about how the Atmos Black will perform on the course. I hit it very well on the sim, but at 73 grams. I think that's about as heavy as I'd like to go. I'm 66 years old, and I like the idea of a lighter shaft in my clubs. I want to say the Synergy in the X hybrid is 66 grams.

Thanks, that's great information on the Tensei.

Looking at that chart, I think I was correct about what would work best for me (the broken clock theory).

My SS with the driver is low 90's on my best days now. I average 90-91 on most. I'd be willing to give the 70 a shot only because I have a pretty aggressive move, but yeah, the 80 would be above my pay grade I think.

Ok, so I couldn't refuse a deal on a new set of uncut Recoil 95 F4 shafts. I may not even put them in any clubs in the near future, but at $25 per shaft after tax, just too good of a deal to refuse.

YES! Tracy putter

there’s some really good deals there for sure. i doubt i’ll get down to florida this winter, so i’m not gonna buy anything now.

this will be a slow process for sure. vokey wedges pop up on OfferUp for like $50 every once in a while. i’ll probably start there. i’ve seen a few nice sets of Titleist 714 AP2s for around $300 so i’m definitely considering something like that if i can find them with the right shafts.

slow and steady wins the race.

It is the  Mitsubishi Tensei CK PRO Orange 80 HYB Graphite shaft.
The pro model has an

... While it is true the Pro Orange wood shaft has an "extremely stiff tip" the Pro Orange 80hy is not as stiff in the tip. It is a pretty stout shaft, but not as low launch/low spin as the wood shaft. I tried the Pro Orange wood shaft and even in r-flex it was just too stout for my smooth tempo. The Pro Orange 80hy in stiff was not anywhere near as stout and I can play that shaft effectively but have a little more success with a lighter and softer tip shaft, so I re-shafted mine with a Diamana Limited 65gm r-flex. But depending on how you swing, the Pro Orange Hy shaft will fit a much larger range of players than the Pro Orange wood shaft. If I could have found a Pro Orange Hy in r-flex I would have re-shafted with it and been very happy.

Ecco has the Biom Hybrid 3GTX normally $199 on sale for $179 AND you get 50% off when use the code: BF20 so the final cost is $89.99!!!

Dont do this to me!  I don't need a reason to buy more shoes but as an atta boy, I have to say, Ecco has the best customer service among shoe mfg's.

That's great feedback. I ordered a stiff. Typically play low/low in woods anyway, but I like the Recoil in my SpeedZone hybrid which I think is more mid/mid or even mid/high.

Regardless, I'm hoping the Super Hybrid fills two slots in my bag as I'm trying to get rid of "single use" clubs.

Stopped at Golf Store to check on Srixon ball markdowns. Ended up w. Voice Caddie Rangefinder. On sale, made me an offer I could refuse but didn’t.
Tried it this morning and I actually like it.Image1606321836.611535.jpg

Ran out to the driving range this afternoon. I typically only take 4 or 5 clubs vs my entire bag which was the case today and of course I forgot to bring a glove. Fortunately the proshop was having sale - they had AN ENTIRE BASKET of right handed gloves 2 for $10. At that price I would have bought all of the XL gloves unfortunately I could only find 2. What a bargain FJ WeatherSoft gloves for 5 bucks each.
