Picked-up a couple items...

A buddy that owns Xphlexxx Shafts is sending me a shaft for an experiment/test, so I can’t use my Honma due to the head weight needed for the test. I bought a used Srixon Z545 head on eBay so my buddy can load it up to the weight needed.

Next, I used the last of my “points” from work to cover 1/2 of the cost of a pair of the new Footjoy Stratos shoes. Looking forward to these just because FJ is saying they’re the most cushioned show they’ve made... We’ll see!!!

Yep. I’m going to test a theory that’s worked for some other guys: VERY stiff Busa shaft, at 45”, but with a heavy head, 205-210 grams.

I played the Agera shaft of his in the past.

i've wanted to experiment with long drive shafts for a while.  i'm hoping i can find one on ebay for cheap

The Agera is a fast car, and the Busa is short for the Hayabusa, a very fast motorcycle. Yes, the graphics are very “subtle”.

I had a House of Forged Express, 50g shaft at 47” in a Nakashima head some years back. You can get the Express for $50 now....

Going to need to look at these in my next purchase down the road. Good for a while but if my swing transition works and still have my high torque I’ll be checking these out. If not for anything but the badass coloring

He’s looking at doing some limited edition iron shafts! Heavy, 135g, but some really cool colors and designs! Fifty sets, all numbered 1-50! Should be really cool, albeit not useful for the masses....

Likely will purchase a net return Home series and impact screen as well.  

Question - does anyone have any clue what type of projector would be best value.  I don't need exceptional graphics by any means.  Really just have no idea what I'm looking for except that it's capable of 4:3 to match the screen I would get.

No idea, but I do know that you should look for a short throw projector.

That's more than my baby muscles can handle....for now.  Interested to see what the designs will be though!

I got a push cart for Christmas. It was a sweet Amazon Prime deal. I’ve used it twice so far, I’ll write up an unofficial review on it eventually as I haven’t heard many people talk about this one. Love the seat that comes with it.

I picked up another 3 dozen TaylorMade TP5 Pix practice balls while they're on sale again at Golf Discount. At $19.99 a dozen, they're hard to pass up. I've had a bit of a rough time keeping them out of the water here lately and thought it'd be good to replenish. I might set a half dozen aside for net practice.

Bought a 4 round punch card at one of the local courses for $160 w/cart.  It can be a very good course when maintained but therein lies the issue.  Will the ownership water this year?  You never know from year to year which course will show up.  I would have bought more punch cards but it's a gamble.

Bought one of these:

Fujikura MCI practice shaft for tempo work

And then bought a TM M1 7 iron head to put on this. Why a TM M1 7 iron, because it was $20, and with this being for tempo practice, don't think the clubhead matters that much.

Sorry for the lengthy post. This is also somewhat of a review/warning for those interested in the Bushnell Wingman speaker.

So I started out with the Bushnell Wingman. Played 1 round and IMO the thing is crap. Sound was pretty ok and the magnet was a really sweet feature. I was really hoping to find a highly functional GPS paired with a great sounding speaker to justify the $150 pricetag. What I found was a decent sounding speaker with a very poorly functioning and buggy GPS. The primary selling point of Yardage call-out just seemed like more of a novelty option for a decent speaker.

Nearly every other hole, the GPS would lock onto an adjacent hole and randomly shout out the distance and then stay on that hole.. example: I'm on hole 3 with 150 yds and driving to my ball and then the thing would randomly say "hole 6 682 yds to the middle of the green." Then it was a PITA to get the GPS back onto the hole I was actually playing. C'mon Bushnell.. if my Garmin Vivoactive 3 (non-golf watch) knows that 6 doesn't come after 3 and can advance the hole correctly, I'd expect you to have that worked out before taking my $.

Another dumb thing was that the remote had a very poor distance from the speaker AND the speaker is not an actual GPS device. I kind of knew that but just expected to have better functionality. So the real GPS is your phone's Bushnell app which sends GPS yardage audio to the speaker via bluetooth. This means you MUST keep your phone on you at all times if you want the yardage to be accurate. So the remote in your pocket sends a signal to the speaker that then retrieves the yardage back from your phone also in the same pocket as the remote. Keep in mind that the music you are playing also comes from the phone in your pocket. A lot of tee boxes aren't right next to the cart path. In the event that I needed to walk more than 20 or so feet, the remote and sometimes phone would un pair and then the whole thing is worthless and you're cooked for getting any yardage.

So.. coming to the conclusion that I'm just better off sticking with my Garmin watch and just buying a better speaker, I opted for the JBL Flip 5. Oh man what a fantastic speaker! I'm more of an ambient cart music kind of guy so I don't need mega booming volume. That said, I appreciate good full sound that can warm up a room (or golf cart). The flip 5 is 10x the speaker that the Wingman is and for $90 is a much better value. Additionally it's water proof and sounds great at louder volume for living room family dance party time or in the backyard around the pool or grill. And it fits perfectly in the cup holder in the cart or any pocket in my golf bag for walking rounds.

the more I practice, the luckier I seem to get..
