I have some ideas of what I think I might go with, but I'm open to all ideas. My guess is that I need something with 30-45 degrees of toe hang, perhaps a mallet with a plumber's neck, or I end up in a LAB. Hard to say. I'll thread about it for sure.

I would have said EVNROLL has to get a look, but an ER5 has 25 degrees of toe hang, and ER7 20.

That seems like a lot of toe hang for a mallet, is that easily found?  I'm certainly not a putter aficionado, especially among this group...

So, I'm of two minds of the fitting. Mallets with plumber necks are a bit more common, PXG offers on all their putters, TM MySpider has it as an option, and also Odyssey has the 2 ball blade and Toulon Seattle, Ping the Tyne 4.

I could also go through with a wide body blade like a Squareback, ER2, or even a Mizuno MCraft IV or a Sik DW. Or the off the path LAB choice or the one Evnroll I really like, the TS1.

The one bias I have is against a regular blade, and I'm going to put that to the side if need be. The Stroke Lab testing opportunity got me fitted to a standard blade, the One. It wasn't great but that may have been the insert. Maybe a milled blade or firmer insert may be in play.

In all honesty Getoffmylawn, I'm open to whatever gets the ball in the hole, whichever brand that is, but I have a couple of ideas on where I might end up to at least help the fitting along.

The newest B X? White box? Or last generation with the red/black box?
Last generation in the black/red. I technically only got 11 balls. Older guy probably won them at an outing and didn't like them.

All the rain we’re getting down here is putting a dent in my wallet... I took a flyer on 40% off sale for Epic Flash Star hybrids (17* 20* 23*) today in like new condition on CPO today with UST Attas 50g regular flex shafts. No reason why I did this, but with the playability, I couldn’t think of a reason not to either. 🙄

I have no idea how this will go, that shaft seems very light (as is the club itself) but I saw they are selling for $320 each on TGW, and I got these for $135. I’m thinking I’ll hit the 20* at the range, then decide whether or not to keep them....

These showed up over lunch to go in the 5-9 irons. Four additional shafts for the PW, GW, 54 and 58 will be here tomorrow. Have some work to do!

I've never played the regular weight Tours, only taken a few swings with them, but do have extensive experience with the C-Taper Lites.

These are 113 grams, so a little lighter than your Tours (assuming stiff flex?). There are no "X" flex MMT 105s, they jump from stiff at 105 grams to TX at 113 grams. I went with the TX based more on weight rather than flex, and ordered the matching "scoring wedge" shafts for the 54/58 that are slightly heavier at 117 grams.

I did a one-on-one comparison of the SpeedZone 5 iron with CTL x-stiff vs. the Sub70 699 4 iron with the MMT. For me, I found the MMT to have a similar feel at impact but I picked up a few MPH club and ball speed and some distance (in fairness, the lofts were the same but the 4 iron is 1/2 inch longer). Launch angle was about the same, but spin was slightly less. These comparisons are with my Mevo and cold, crap range balls so realistically the two shafts produced very similar numbers. The full post is here:

I'd say, compared to the CTLs, they feel stiffer while being waggled but unload very nicely through the ball. And the dampening of the graphite was very nice. I wanted to go graphite because I was starting to get some elbow/wrist pain from hitting off mats.

Absolutely no idea.  It's the standout winner among those I tested at the Truespec fitting.  It averaged ~9 more yards carry and had less dispersion.  To be quite honest I didn't notice that much difference between it and the Alta CB 55 on my G410P... feel wise that is.  I was toying with trying a Tensei Orange as these are more readily available with PING adapters but opted to just pull the trigger on the KBS.

Of course, one never has to dig to deep to find the scoop on all things golf 👍

Huge question!!! Are 350 dollar shafts ever worth the money. Would you rather have a couple year old driver with a $350 shaft or a new head with a meh shaft???

Depends on the person, everyone is different. There are people on this forum that the $350 aftermarket shaft is worth every penny; there are others who say it is a complete waste of money and put it in a closet never to be seen again. Both are correct because that has been their experience.

As for which driver, I’d prefer to have the one that fit me best. That said I would prefer to have the driver that gave me the best balance of cost and performance. I personally wouldn’t spend $350
on a shaft and would prefer to be fit into a stock or inexpensive upgrade.

If you look in my WITB, I have the KBS shaft in my driver. I didn’t pay $350 for it, I paid $91. It was used and it was cut short. So I guess I have the old driver with the expensive shaft. After hitting lots of new drivers with decent shafts, I am not switching.

I am a shaft guy so as long as the driver head isn't too old, lets say a G400 era, then I think spending money on the right shaft for you is the direction I would lean.  Once I find a clubhead I like whether it be an iron or driver I stick with it a while and would rather swap in shafts to tweak performance than change the head.  Or like my recent G410 experiment swap in different head weights if it's adjustable to tweak things.

The right shaft for you may not be a high $$ one either.  The shaft that I loved in the last driver, a G10, ended up being a $50 ProLaunch Red.  And you can find used premium shafts for sale for much less than retail if you are patient.

Yes they are worth it if it fits your swing and clubhead setup.

There are several companies that offer them as a stock offering like PX with the hzrdus line including the new rdx blue and black, but there are several companies that have them as upcharge.

Aldila rogue white is another.

For some the performance may be better with these bit for others it could be a hindrance. The ventus with velocore is a great shaft but TM has a made for version and those with slower swings have benefitted more from the TM version than the aftermarket one

there’s no reason to have to choose between those two options.

the used premium shaft market is insane. i have well over $1000 of shafts that i’m testing for my driver that i didn’t pay $400 for.
