That reminds of a time I was in the golf shop last winter. The owner was lamenting about how some of his customers claim that there is no way his FlightScope Xi can be right. He specifically was referring to the 70-something gentleman he had just fit who couldn't believe he wasn't swinging 100 miles per hour. When he walked in for the fitting he asked for a stiff shaft and the owner had to break it to him after a few swings that at 76 miles per hour he was likely a better fit for senior flex.

Reminds me of one time I was killing time in the hitting bay at my local shop and these two older uncles were self fitting themselves.

"just because i'm swinging it at 80 mph, why shouldn't I use an x-flex?"

He then proceeded to hit like 4 drives with 100y of carry that went about 12 whole feet off the ground. Gotta love those people who think they know better than trained professionals.

^^this right here.

@RollingGreens i tend to luck out because there isnt a huge buyer's market for the shafts that fit my swing.  lots of guys on WRX buy the TX versions of the high end shafts and quickly realize they can't swing them.  i come along once the listing has been sitting there for a few weeks and offer $150 for a $400 shaft that's been hit a handful of times.

I guess I better keep lifting to work on my swing speed😂😂

sounds like I coincidentally fit it the popular category of shafts right now, with stiff flex and 60-70g. good luck to all with purchases going forward

I can tell similar stories of folks I guide and teach fly fishing/casting too.  Some folks image of themselves and their capabilities is damn funny.  People that show up with $1000+ fly rods and can barely cast the length of the boat... but it's always the wind, fly reel, wrong line the shop sold them, or...??? 😁

I think the green is a pretty smooth feeling shaft especially compared to the smoke black and original Hzrdus black. Also has more feel than the yellow

I did enjoy it, and on my days where I am good to go, not stiff etc. (June-September usually) is fantastic (I got mine in August), but as soon as I was not swinging consistently a couple times a week since snow is flying it was tough, especially after I swung the RDX blue. Was no turning back after that.

The original hzrdus black is love it or hate it. Until I really ramped up getting comfortable with how much force I could use swinging the smoke black felt like a 2x4 on the transition.

That's exactly how I felt with the green. If I was not 100% forget it. I left that face wide open and had routine pop fly's left to right. On the transition it just wanted to stay there. I still have it in my 3W so well see what happens......

Last week purchased a new driver shaft. Graphite tour Ad Xc black. Still waiting for it to arrive. Presidents’ Day means I’ll have to wait till Tuesday now before it arrives. I am looking for more stability and friendlier feeling shaft. I had improved my swing and I was happy with the hzrdus black. My results had significantly improved and I was able to find fairways and control the club head in my transition better, but it left me feeling like their was something better I could use that would be friendlier. Ever since getting the modus 120 shafts in my irons it’s been a big difference for comfort, stability, and results. Which I have the graphite Ad shaft provides , if not it will be a new item on the BST😂😂

From talking to a buddy in cali about the rdx line it sounds like a good improvement over the original hzrdus and smoke lines. The blue due to the cb design is one I’m curious about.

The original yellow was in and out of my bag several times and I played the ust helium for a bit. A cb shaft seems to work well for me and as much as the yellow fit I never really liked the feel but it’s hard to argue with results.

I have the green in my yet to be determined what to do with sim max and was surprised how much I liked it after hating the black and perceived the green was going to be similar based on how px designed it. I do think it can be a shaft like other hzrdus shafts that’s going to give some people headaches when the swing is off.

Yup the black and even the red were not friendly shafts. I tried a red in a fw as well and hated it in that as well

The Modus 120 is still something I think about putting into my Forged Tec irons... I was originally fit into the 120x but they were back ordered when it came time to build so we substituted in the Project X LZ 6.5.  I really don't have any complaints about the LZs... but I remember the 120x feeling so damn smooth and effortless.

The fear of a greatly reduced golf budget is real in my household with baby approaching...

So I did what any dad would do with one of their few last good remaining paychecks...

Called up Discount Dan's and ordered a more forgiving set of irons. TaylorMade P770 w/ DG Tour Issue X100.

The Mizuno JPX 921 SELs are a great feeling iron but they are a bitter old hag when mishit. I played Tuesday and didn't fly a single approach shot long. It was a humiliating day. Couldn't hit the distance I wanted and yes, air was a bit heavy but everything was short...so I took advantage of this opportunity to possibly change out the irons while telling the wife: I feel that my current irons would require me to practice/play more and I'm just being honest with myself and will need a more forgiving set of irons.

She nodded in agreement.

That evening I crawled up into my safe space, the attic, and dialed my mistress...Todd at Discount Dan's. Love that guy.

Of course, 3-4 week shipping delay. Still waiting on Ping 3 Wood, Ping Wedges...and now P770s.

March is going to be a bitchin' month for the golf game...just in time for baby to take it away in mid-April.

I hear you and congrats on the baby and new clubs. My daughter came during Masters week in 2019. I do not regret missing Tiger win. It was a real blessing to have my daughter.
