fozcycle
... These Aguila greens have been driving me crazy. First off the Bermuda grain is tough to read. Then the course designer is a masochist that has a TON of visual misdirections. A perfect example is #9 that is sitting beside a lake and as always the ball breaks to the water with the high point on the other side of the green ... or is it? The 2 drains in dips beside the high side are certainly a tell tale clue because the ball breaks away from the water. Standing in the fairway a good 30 yds away you can see the subtle tilt away from the water but standing on the green it looks and feels like the ball will break to the water. He is one twisted dude. Many of the greens are similar with visual clues that are completely misleading. I have over 100 rounds on this course and I am still learning some of the breaks. When they are cut/rolled and fast they are easier to read but when mid speed or worse running slow the grain with the sun in the late afternoon make them more difficult to calculate. I have never missed so many birdie putts as I have on this course. ... So my normal feel putting has been letting me down and I have had to add an element of technical putting where I have to ignore my eyes and decided a new mallet putter would help. I was expecting to spend $300-400 on a putter demoing everything from PXG to Taylor Made and everything in between. One putter stood out from the pack because it flowed straight back on line while others tended to waiver. I was shocked to find the Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft 11s Premier putter was only $149 but I was not a fan of the black shaft or dull grey finish. The regular 11s has a typical stainless finish that was much more appealing to my eye and it was only $129!?!? I had to order it because none were in stock but it arrived last week and it has been exactly what I was looking for. It certainly pays to have an open mind in more ways than one. Was told it was a 15 working day wait, so I patiently waited my 3 weeks. Sent an email 5 days ago and got no reply. Rang this morning and was told they were expecting them from Srixon towards the end of the week, and that Srixon had told them incorrect information as to availability. I asked why no one had replied to my email, and that I was pretty unhappy with their lack of customer service. My complaints were worth the effort, they are throwing in a box of Z-Stars to keep me happy. Only saving grace is I won’t be playing this week while recovering from yet more stitches. For example, related to that SIM Max above: Purchase price of the SIM Max was $499 but I traded in a PXG 0811 XF Gen 2 for like $320 trade credit (50% trade in bonus and PXGs were expensive at the time) Sold the stock TM Ventus Red (non-velocore) on ebay for slightly over $100. Bought a Ventus Red Velocore for $150 on ebay. Sold for about $200 after 1 year of use. Did have to buy back a stock shaft to trade in with the SIM Max, so got a TM stock Ventus Blue (non-Velocore) for $35 Getting $240 of trade value for that SIM Max Not counting the original trade of the PXG on the SIM Max, I paid 499, but netted +$100 on the stock shaft, +$50 on the Ventus Velocore, -$35 on buying back the stock shaft, +$240 on the trade in. This means I paid about $144 for 1 year of usage of the SIM Max. A bit more if we include tax. Also of note, I do buy a lot of stuff, but I don't really stockpile clubs. DiscipleofPenick
Last purchase before the season starts...Time to replace my main wedge, but it turns out Vokey no longer offers my bounce/grind combo in the 58* anymore. I play the L grind with 4* bounce. So time to source new SM5 and 6 off ebay. Well I found one not only in black, but black raw. This is the one I've wanted but they were out of stock last time I bought my wedge. I've been playing this setup for about 12 years now, story for another thread. So I guess I'll be buying another 2 or 3 of these when I have funds and praying Vokey offers it in the future. Can always bend a 60 I guess. Sounds like you might just be better off letting us know what you're NOT going to be testing for the year... might be a shorter list! PMookie
After going short and heavy with driver, I’m going that way with my fairway wood, so I just bought a 15* “like new” Epic Flash fairway wood on Cally Pre-Owned, $78 after TS3 trade, then bought a new, uncut Aldila NV 95 fairway shaft that I’ll have tipped 2” for $49.97 shipped, and bought the sleeve and weights for it as well on eBay. Going to be fun to see what this thing does!!!!! It will be built to 43”. cnosil, MattF, Vegan_Golfer_PNW and 4 others 7 Quote Driver: Ping G430 Max 9*, Ping Tour 70X Fairway: Ping G425 15*, Ping Tour 70X Hybrid: Ping G425 22*, Ping Tour 80X Irons: Ping i230 4-GW, TT DG X100 Wedges: SMS 50D/54V/58DModus 130 stiff, +1” Putter: EAS 1.0 Ball: Titleist 2023 AVX
Popular Post edingc
My special order MMT shafts came in this week. Very quick turnaround time from Mitsubishi, I think it took less than a day from time of order to grips4less receiving them and then shipping to me took one additional day. Side note, I used grips4less for a lot of things in the past month and they've been fantastic to work with, and the free shipping over $75 is awesome. The hybrid shaft is matte while the utility is gloss to match the iron shafts. The original plan was just to start with one hybrid shaft in the Super Hybrid, but I figured I ordered a second shaft and might as well install them both. So now I have MMT in everything but the driver. Since it's a stock shaft in the Epic Speed LS line, I'll probably nab one on eBay later this year to try it out for fun. I created a hammer with the Cobra Utility head, though. At 39.5" it swing weights out to be somewhere around D7-D8. I'm going to give it a go at the range before I go shorter, however. cksurfdude, Shapotomous, RickyBobby_PR and 9 others 11 1 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. juspoole
19 hours ago, dlow206 said: For example, related to that SIM Max above: Purchase price of the SIM Max was $499 but I traded in a PXG 0811 XF Gen 2 for like $320 trade credit (50% trade in bonus and PXGs were expensive at the time) Sold the stock TM Ventus Red (non-velocore) on ebay for slightly over $100. I actually hate having too many clubs sitting around. I cannot have more than 2 drivers, 2 sets of irons, and like 4 putters at one time. Any more than that, I need to get rid of it. Those are my secrets lol It's scary how much we think alike. I've done similar things this past year, but trying to slow it down because even though the end game is worth it, sometimes it's a pain in the butt shipping everything and keeping an eye on the watchlist. edingc, sirchunksalot, cksurfdude and 5 others 8 Quote Driver: Mavrik Sub Zero 9* (Set to 10) Ventus Blue 6X 2 Hybrid: TSI3 Hybrid Tensei Blue 80 X (17.25*) 3 Hybrid 818 H2 Hybrid Hzrdus RDX Black 6.5 (20.5*) 4 Iron - T200 4 Iron Graphite Design Tour AD IZ X Hybrid Shaft Irons 5-PW: T100-S 5 - GW KBS Tour 130 X Gap/Sand Wedge: Vokey SM6 49* SM8 54* Lob Wedge: Jaws 5 Wedge 58* DG Tour Issue Stiff Putter: Phantom 5.5 34" Pro Platinum Newport 2 35" Taylormade Tour Black Spider 34"

Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Figured if I was going graphite, I was going all in! The MMT will have to be good in the Super Hybrid to beat out the Pro Orange, though. I inquired about having Sub70 build these for me (I'd buy the shafts separately and ship them), but they said for now they are only building .370 shafts with their heads.
