Popular Post dlow206
Ok, i guess i should tell my story since I alluded to it. There were multiple factors at play that led to my mishap. I was trying to pull the Fuji MCI wedge shafts from my Edel wedges. Should be an easy job, i pulled like 10 graphite shafts in the past couple of days and have pulled a lot of shafts in general, so im not a newb. So tried to pull graphite shafts with my Mitchell Commercial shaft puller. Wouldn't budge, regardless of the amount of heat applied. Decided I would sacrifice the graphite shafts and twist them off, knowing that the shaft may break at the hosel, I knew that would likely happen. Normally, after breaking a graphite shaft, I would drill it out, not an issue. So the next factor that piled on was that the Fuji iron shafts have "Metal composite technology", so there was some sort of piece of steel going right down about the middle of the shaft. So attempting to drill in the center to create a pilot hole was a not going to work well with that piece of steel there. Yep, so ended up wrecking the hosels trying to drill out the remaining shaft. So in summary, the factors that led to me destroying the wedges were: 1. The shaft wouldn't budge at all. This part didn't make sense 2. Couldn't drill out the shaft properly because of the "metal composite technology" in the shaft 3. There may be an issue with my Mitchell puller. It has seemed not as strong as it used to be and i have needed to apply more heat than normal recently. Sending it in for Mitchell to take a look. I am also buying a Reverse Thrust Puller and will sell the Mitchell once its deemed ok or is repaired. The Reverse Thrust Puller is the strongest puller on the market. My overall frustration is partly because of wrecking the two wedges, but also because I take a lot of pride in high quality builds, especially since I am taking on some club building work as a side business. I will chalk it up as a learning experience, I am sure all professional club builders have screwed up something at least 1 or more times in their careers. sirchunksalot, cksurfdude, JohnSmalls and 8 others 11 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 07/15/2022 Driver: Rogue St Max LS - Autoflex Fairway Woods: Rogue Max St 3HL and 7 Wood Irons: JPX 921 Hot Metal 5 to AW - Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff parallel tip Wedges: Glide 4.0 54 and 58 Putter: PLD Custom Kushin

Syks7
I have got to stop just dropping in to Roger Dunn's to kill time in between meetings. Spent some time visiting/hitting the ZX7 & ZX5 Irons I've been lusting after. Decided to have a go at the ZX7 & ZX5 Driver (Pretty awesome, I'd play either) and as I was returning the demo clubs to their bin what do I spy in the used bin, the much loved 2016 TM M2 9.5 degree driver. It's in decent shape aside from one idiot mark on top and one at the toe. Given used club prices as of late I don't even bother with looking at the tag and figure I'll hit it a few times for fun. Look at the shaft as I'm walking to the bay, see that it's a Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Blueboard -- nice. It's obviously quite a bit cut down maybe playing at 44 or 44.5". But hey, I'm not buying it, so no worries. Set up a little closer to the ball and start some easy swings. First one is a nice easy swing that sails past my normal 235 carry. I figure it's just luck, then I do it 3 more times in a row. At this point I feel like the golf gods are playing a cruel trick on me and decide to take a look at the tag expecting to see $200-$250 . It's $99.00. Suddenly I'm at the cashier... I'm interested to see does with the my non-velo ventus red and figure the blueboard might be making the move into my 3 wood as it's probably going to be exactly the right playing length for me in that club. I have played so many DI type irons and the Cobra might be one of the most versatile of all I have played only beat by the DHY. You know how the first time you hit a club it can leave a lasting impression? I drove a 310 yd par 4 the very first time I hit my King Utility. Conditions were dry and fast in LA and I land right on the 100yd marker, a big concrete square in the middle of the fairway. Ball probably bounced 15ft in the air LOL and I had to apologize to the guys on the green because those using a driver wait for the green to clear. But carrying it 210 and the middle of the fairway was love at first hit for me. ... Good luck with yours! You know I share your affection for the DHY, but have you tried an Apex Pro? sirchunksalot and cksurfdude 2 Quote Driver: TSR2, Ventus Blue 6 S, 65g Stiff FW: TSR2 3w, 15, Ventus Blue 7 S, 70g Stiff Hybrids: Apex Pro 3H, Ventus Blue 8 S, 80g Stiff Stealth DHY 4H, Ventus Blue 8 S, 80g Stiff Irons: SMS 5-6, SMS Pro 7-PW, Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff Wedges: SM9 48 F Grind, 52 F Grind, 56 M Grind, Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff Putter: Sri-Hot 5K Triple Wide, Stroke Lab shaft Ball: Pro V1 Click here for my HONMA TR20 Official Review! Hybrid or iron, although I have hit neither one of them. I avoid Callaway if possible and they are the only brand I steer clear of unless something like the Super Hybrid is too good to pass up. cksurfdude and RollingGreens 2 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Very small profile and is another anti-left hybrid… chisag and cksurfdude 2 Quote Driver: TSR2, Ventus Blue 6 S, 65g Stiff FW: TSR2 3w, 15, Ventus Blue 7 S, 70g Stiff Hybrids: Apex Pro 3H, Ventus Blue 8 S, 80g Stiff Stealth DHY 4H, Ventus Blue 8 S, 80g Stiff Irons: SMS 5-6, SMS Pro 7-PW, Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff Wedges: SM9 48 F Grind, 52 F Grind, 56 M Grind, Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff Putter: Sri-Hot 5K Triple Wide, Stroke Lab shaft Ball: Pro V1 Click here for my HONMA TR20 Official Review!
