I haven't been as active around here as much as I'd like recently, so maybe I missed this...

Did you detail your virtual fit with TXG anywhere? Curious what led you to the Fuji Pros? When I started looking at graphite in early 2019 they were one of my first stops. The weight range is about perfect for me, as is bend profile. I think I ultimately went with MMTs because they are .355 and I didn't want to bother with tip trimming...

I'll let @ejgaudette address the fitting part, but want to talk about 0.355" taper tip part. Taper tips definitely require less work, especially when we are talking about 0.355" heads. And taper tips are constant weight, so there is that aspect. I like parallel tip shafts because it offers more flexibility to play with the flex based on tip trim amount. But they are more work because you also have to sand down from 0.370" to fit 0.355" hosels, and that requires a decent amount of work, even with a belt sander.

A while back I posted a review on the Titleist Hybrid 14 bag that I got. It's been one of the best riding/stand bags that I've ever owned but with a MAJOR flaw that we all kind of discovered together, was that it doesn't fit most push carts.

Man someone else is dealing with this issue! I have a nice titleist bag and it doesn’t fit either. I have to rig it a certain way to make it ride. Thought I was doing something wrong somehow.

So I have not had a chance to document that as things have been busier at work, and my wife and I just welcomed our third child into the world a couple months ago now. It was good I had some GC Quad numbers to help make some choices. I mostly called about the shaft choice as I found a good deal on the HMP irons. MMTs where the other option but it came down to a cost decision since the MMTs were $30 more per shaft than the Fuji. They felt both would be a good fit with my goal to drop some spin without dropping much else in the numbers as the ball speed and other numbers were not bad, I just tend to not deloft the club as much. I am hoping to write something up about this all soon.

Sorry to be That Guy, but I guess I'm doing it anyway...

Not all taper tips are constant weight.  And not all parallel tip shafts are not constant weight.  A good example from Ye Olde Days is the original Rifle shaft; the parallel and tapered models were both taken from the same blanks, tipped to frequency, and they would stage the tips for the tapered shafts.

Going the other way, Nippon makes .370 versions of several of their Modus shafts, which are all constant weight.  I'm not 100% positive, but their 950/1050/1150 shafts may also be constant weight in parallel.

I found this on OfferUp in lightly used (9/10) condition for about half the price of a new one. The brackets not only fit but they happen to wrap around the arms on each side and the bag just doesn't budge. I probably don't even need the straps but they'll be useful for that extra bit of support.

Good buy! Really happy with my BB Quad XL.

FYI - the top bracket on the Bag Boy carts feature what they call "Top Lok" where the molding is designed to, well, 'lock in' stand bag arms .. or bags that have Top Lok (including Datrek).

Yes, thats true, I was making a broad generalization, but there are instances where that is not the case. Accra also has constant weight shafts with parallel tips.

Pulled the trigger on a dozen ProV1x RCT balls for indoor practice with the Mevo+.

Pricey, but if it removes the need for a metallic dot indoors, it'll be worth it. My initial testing today with the Mevo+ indoors resulted in several estimated spin reads, even with the metallic dot.

I'm going in kind of blind. One brief test on Twitter reported success. FlightScope responded to a question about it on Twitter and said they provided Titleist "good feedback" about the ball.

It's going to be a few weeks until they show up. I'll have to do an unofficial review.

Couple weeks ago got ANOTHER internet add this one from “Lost Golf Balls” with all kinds of incentives on bulk purchases.  The balls I’m most interested in they only had white and I really can’t see the white balls anymore, I’m (gasp) Yellow Ball guy now 😱.  Well I pulled the trigger on 6 dozen Yellow Mint Titleist Tour Soft, free shipping of course.  I was really surprised, checked every one and they ARE Mint.  Played Tuesday & Friday with them and I like them especially cool weather.  Good thing, 6 dozen going to last longer than my wife’s Toilet Paper stash!!

Funny I also ordered a dozen ProV1 RCT on the day you posted this lol...there is a possibility we were looking at the webpage at the same time...great minds think alike...maybe we should follow up and create an unofficial testing page for these...I will be using a Garmin R10 and comparing to non RCT Pro V1's

As mentioned above I ordered a dozen RCT ProV1's because I am a sucker for data accuracy as an engineer. Thinking of doing a joint unofficial test with @edingc. Also ordered some hitting mats and a net from Amazon. Since I had the Rukket tri-turf small hitting mat, I ordered the matching "Tri-turf golf hitting mat attack".

Rukket Tri-Turf Golf Hitting Mat Attack

basically a narrow hitting mat with cutouts for their tri and two turf mats. Good idea in theory but after receiving it found that the longer cutout is too short for the tri-turf. Also, the shorter cutout allows you to insert the tri turf mat in a longer orientation but even in this orientation it is too narrow to try and hit a tee'd up ball with your driver. If you go to the Amazon link and see the pictures my explanations make sense lol. So this is being returned.

I also ordered the GoSports Pro 5X4 hitting mat.

GoSports Pro 5X4 Hitting Mat

This one has 6 cut outs for rubber tees and comes with 3 rubber tees of various heights (and one of them lets you insert a regular tee). Has a nice thickness and turf feel to it. Will be keeping this one and doing follow ups on durability.

Finally ordered a Heavy Duty 7X10 hitting net. These are all probably made by the same factory in China and rebranded so just find the one that has the best price and offers a good warranty.

Hit Run Steal 7X10 Golf Hitting Net

I bought this one from a company called "Hit Run Steal" as it seemed from reviews they offer excellent customer service. I can attest to this as I ordered this used from Amazon and it came with 2 of the poles missing. I emailed their customer service and told them I bought it used from Amazon and they are sending the missing parts free of charge. I saw in the reviews someone else had ordered it used as well and got a damaged net and the company also replaced it for them. Once the replacement parts arrive and I can get this set up in my garage I will follow up. I was using the Rukket pop up net but wanted something with more coverage at the top since the pop up net sits like a triangle. (I did pop up a drive once and it went over the net and into an open field thankfully). I only got the Rukket pop up net for the portability since at the time I was living in a small apartment but now that I am in a house with a garage I can set up a more permanent net!

I'd be all for the joint unofficial review! We'll see how long they take to arrive. Titleist's timeline puts them here sometime in early or mid-December.

I haven't been overly impressed with the metallic dots with the Mevo+ so far. They seem finicky, and I also don't love the idea of hitting the same area of the ball too often - less than 200 shots in and I already cracked an MTB-X with my 5 iron:

In fairness to Snell, this was a shag bag ball that I found among the yellow range balls at my practice facility. So I have no idea of it's former life, other than that I played a handful of holes with it during some practice rounds this summer.

For now, I'm probably going to stick to some of the other urethane balls I found around the course.

Cool. I ordered a hat along with it to get free shipping. Looks like the hat has shipped but no idea on the balls. Let's keep in contact and figure out how we want to do the test! For now I will be hitting some brand new ProV1's out the box without stickers to get some baseline numbers and compare with my Shotscope distances out on the course. Interesting that with the sticker you have to hit the same part of the ball but makes sense since the orientation with the sticker matters. We should include that in the test too to see if orientation of the ball matters.

Decided to jump back on the vintage club train and picked up these

Mizuno T Zoid Pro II blades.

These are in pretty outstanding condition. Exact length as my current irons too. I just need to re grip, maybe throw on some new ferrules, and maybe some paint fill. Thinking all Mizuno blue themed.

Spotted a Cobra F9 3 wood on eBay, advertised as used going cheap, and I've decided to give it a go over the winter as we have a few holes where driver is too much club.

Turned up yesterday, brand new with a couple of marks on the crown. £70 🙂

Good god, man! Those really are in outstanding condition! And yet they must be close to 25 year old clubs.

Got me all nostalgic as well, had T-Zoids as a junior golfer in high school and I’d go as far as to say that just about every golfer in the mid to late 90s badly wanted those club.

Enjoy the sticks. 🙌🏼

Alright - I did the Black Friday Hogan Buy 2 get one Equalizer 2 wedge - I've given up on the Edisons and my SCORs are aging so much that despite the groove sharpener I feel as if they are being inconsistent on shots around the green.

With a free wedge in the mix I can try two of them for a month or so and if I don't like them come close to breaking even on a resale so there's not much to loose.  Hogan is in stock by the way - I ordered them on Tuesday and they shipped this morning despite me customizing them a bit.

I wish I had time to play golf - I have two rounds scheduled, one for Saturday, one for Monday - first in three weeks - I think that I can sneak one in on December 4th but then I'm done until the week after Christmas.

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

I decided to give the JumboMax Tour Series grip a try on my driver. The fitting guide on their website recommended size small for me. I also had been seeing some YouTube golfers giving the grips a try. Peter Finch put a set of them on his clubs. I was also diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and want to try something with some “cushion”. But I made the switch late in the season and turn of the weather in Central New York has the clubs in the basement for the year. I need more time with it if I’m being fair. I will be hitting the indoor golf facility during the off-season. I must admit it does feel a bit “weird”. But. Do want to give it a proper trial.
