Thought the Max LS knocked that out of the bag? It's an extremely forgiving driver, for sure. Man, I have three different drivers going! Max LS numbers were better with the stiff shaft for the winter, it was the Cobra/Xphlexxx Busa that beat-out Honma last February. As I mentioned coming into winter, and again with my recent fitting, I’ve lost a lot of speed. I can’t activate the Busa now. I was at 119-120 swing speed when I switched to that, now I’m down around 113-114. For winter, the Max LS with stiff MMT was a winner because it was a weaker shaft and I could easily activate it vs even Ventus Black while it’s cold out and I’m at 109 as or so. The Honma is now getting another chance with a stiff/heavy shaft, in addition to lessons which are changing release, etc. Now the Max LS is gone, I traded it on Stealth Plus, noted in a thread. Drivers to me are like putters to others. I swap them out all the time, and depending on time of year, swing speed, advancements in my swing I rotate through drivers. Popular Post azstu324
For some strange reason I can't get the song "oops I did it again" out of my head.. not sure why.. Anyhow.. I stumbled upon these beauties. I picked them up for a trade though.. not sure if I traded up or down but regardless I got what I wanted. A simple and pure forged blade. These will be my practice set and what's great is that I could combo them with my ERG's as the lofts are right in line. The "pies de resistance" however are the shafts. Discontinued FCM Precision rifle Flighted shafts in perfect shape! I had these on my other Mizuno Blades and I've been looking for some more. These are 6.5's which by my understanding is close to S+ flex (not to be confused with PX 6.5) which should be perfect. They're also cut to +.75 which is perfect!! The stars appear to have aligned on this set so I just had to make the trade happen. Vintage + great shape + blades + FCM shafts cut to my length. Now I know this last one might be a bit controversial.. but I picked up this wedge as I've always wanted to try one out and it just fits right in with my new blades. Who knows? Grand Stranded
Okay, there’s a lot to unwind here…. I went to Senior flex in my driver, irons and wedges over the last few months, but have been playing regular flex in my FWs and hybrids. That’s about to change. I always play a Ping driver, so I’m good there, and Callaway FWs and hybrids seem to work best for me, so it wasn’t too difficult to decide on replacements. I’ve played Rogue X hybrids for the last 4 years, but today I received new Rogue ST Max 20*&23* hybrids. The 20* is going in the bag tomorrow, but I like my 5i, so I’m going to take my time breaking in the 5h on the range. Most people my age already have one, and I know I probably should also, but I’ve just never liked looking down at them. They always look to me like they have way more loft than they actually do at setup. This time I’ll give it a chance, there’s no way I’m smarter than all the players better than me who are bagging them. I also ordered a matching 18* ST Max hybrid but it won’t ship for another 4(?) weeks. I could get by with the Hy-Wood I have, but it’s a love/hate thing. The head is huge and it’s forgiving, but I don’t get the distance I feel I should. It’s an awkward length(in between a 5w and 3h, and although they probably help, I’ve never hit a club with rails well. Why… I don’t have a clue, but as long as I had the 90 day playability on it, I figured I’ll just go back to a more conventional looking 3h. That brings us to the 3 wood. I recently had a playoff between an Epic Max, an 0211, and an Epic Star. To be honest, there was no real standout, and I decided to go back to the only 3 wood I’ve ever hit well, the 2018 Rogue, with the same Quaranta 50 shaft I had, only this time it will be in Senior flex. That completes my conversion to Senior flex throughout the bag, but I couldn’t resist one more “just because” purchase. I’ve been putting lights out lately, as good as I ever have, and that’s always been the best part of my game, so why not buy something completely different… right? I can’t remember the last time I rolled a mallet, but I’ve been wanting to try one for a while. I love that PXG’s putter all come with 3 options to fit your particular stroke, so I took a flyer on a Gen2 Bat Attack heel shafted model. At $229 and a 30 day trial I’ll give it a workout on the practice greens. It might get in my bag sometime down the road, but my gamer isn’t going anywhere for now. Shapotomous
If you guys keep talking up the 5h I may succumb to peer pressure and try to replace my 5i. @Rickp & @Tom the Golf NutWhat are the lofts on your 5h's? I have a 23* ( like @Grand Stranded mentioned) but I use that as a 4h, my 190 club that goes about 10 yards longer than my 5i so it is a good gap for me. I am not sure I'd like looking at a 26* with all that loft sitting down there?!?! My current gamer is 8 years old so I thought it was time for a new one. I think this is the ticket. On their site it says up to 7 days to build it and another 3-7 to ship, so hopefully have it mid-March. I plan on doing an unofficial review to see how this driver (at $199) stacks up. I think you will really like this driver... it is solid! cksurfdude and DiscipleofPenick 2 Quote Titleist TSR3 9* (A2 setting) Driver - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Titleist TSR2+ 3 Wood - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Srixon ZX 5W Callaway Paradym 4-PW Titleist Vokey SM9 50-08, 54-10 & 58-08 Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport 2.5 2023 Titleist ProV1
Popular Post GolfSpy TCB
Just received my BirdieBall putting green yesterday.. My wife's first comment was "that is bigger than I thought it would be". Normally, I would be happy with that comment from her... but in this case... I may have some making up to do..
