I'm kind of surprised to read you were still gaming the TR20.  Thought the Max LS knocked that out of the bag?  It's an extremely forgiving driver, for sure.

Man, I have three different drivers going! Max LS numbers were better with the stiff shaft for the winter, it was the Cobra/Xphlexxx Busa that beat-out Honma last February. As I mentioned coming into winter, and again with my recent fitting, I’ve lost a lot of speed. I can’t activate the Busa now. I was at 119-120 swing speed when I switched to that, now I’m down around 113-114. For winter, the Max LS  with stiff MMT was a winner because it was a weaker shaft and I could easily activate it vs even Ventus Black while it’s cold out and I’m at 109 as or so. The Honma is now getting another chance with a stiff/heavy shaft, in addition to lessons which are changing release, etc. Now the Max LS is gone, I traded it on Stealth Plus, noted in a thread.
Drivers to me are like putters to others. I swap them out all the time, and depending on time of year, swing speed, advancements in my swing I rotate through drivers. I’m a My Golf Spy forum member… I’m a club ho. My rotations through drivers should NEVER surprise you!!!

Nope. I have my Ventus black, not tipped, I have the Honma head on an Aldila RIP Alpha 80S shaft…

Ordered the PXG 0211 driver today. 10.5* with HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 70 shaft. My current gamer is 8 years old so I thought it was time for a new one. I think this is the ticket. On their site it says up to 7 days to build it and another 3-7 to ship, so hopefully have it mid-March. I plan on doing an unofficial review to see how this driver (at $199) stacks up.

Titleist 54*wedge came in yesterday, ordered June 9 2021.

One problem, ordered with graphite shaft unfortunately it’s steel…..92039FEE-C0EC-4DB9-8BCB-527DCD6D5AEF.jpeg.79c9ba421cba61344db2a5e1abf87104.jpegC1D5E9AF-EB75-49DE-A22F-7E5C000A3469.jpeg.a681fc65a651374fdc0bb14e51120528.jpeg

Follow up.

The golf store I purchased this from reordered another wedge with correct graphite shaft.  Told me to use this wedge until new one comes in.  I needed it this morning and this wedge is no joke.  Tee shot was pushed right into pine trees maybe 40 yards from pin with a huge trap tight pin to trap and steep green running away from me.  No way to hold green, nope this wedge hit green stopped and sat right down!! Missed the bird😱

Picked up a T200 Utility 4 iron to match the 3 iron from last year's test. Why?

will-smith-why-not.gif.66aa146bacc1707c93c86e9036336629.gif

The 3 is a beast. Originally thought a 2 would be best, but that would replace the 3 wood or knock out a wedge, and I'm not ready for that move.

Another plug for Titleist: ordered it Friday, said 10 weeks for the custom build....Looks like it's showing up on Sunday!

I haven't had a 3 wood in my bag for several years.  I thought I would give one a try since my swing has improved since then.   I wanted an adjustable loft capability knowing that I would be better off with 16 or 17 with my next club being a 3 hybrid at 20 degrees.    I ended up picking up a used Epic Flash 3 wood couple of days ago.  I can't wait to hit it!

s-l1600.jpg

Follow up post.   WHY HAVEN'T BEEN PLAYING A 3 WOOD!!!  What an awesome purchase.  It's giving me straight distance off the tee (well, virtual tee with a launch monitor) and I'm hitting it much better than my 3 hybrid off the turf.  It's so good, I'm going to have to name him, her.

Wanted to go back to a different shape with still some toe hang and was sent to trade for this beauty. Also got the L Series 120 wedge shaft from LAGP for my 60. Looking forward to putting both in play this weekend.

Okay, there’s a lot to unwind here…. I went to Senior flex in my driver, irons and wedges over the last few months, but have been playing regular flex in my FWs and hybrids. That’s about to change.

I always play a Ping driver, so I’m good there, and Callaway FWs and hybrids seem to work best for me, so it wasn’t too difficult to decide on replacements. I’ve played Rogue X hybrids for the last 4 years, but today I received new Rogue ST Max 20*&23* hybrids. The 20* is going in the bag tomorrow, but I like my 5i, so I’m going to take my time breaking in the 5h on the range. Most people my age already have one, and I know I probably should also, but I’ve just never liked looking down at them. They always look to me like they have way more loft than they actually do at setup. This time I’ll give it a chance, there’s no way I’m smarter than all the players better than me who are bagging them.

I also ordered a matching 18* ST Max hybrid but it won’t ship for another 4(?) weeks. I could get by with the Hy-Wood I have, but it’s a love/hate thing. The head is huge and it’s forgiving, but I don’t get the distance I feel I should. It’s an awkward length(in between a 5w and 3h, and although they probably help, I’ve never hit a club with rails well. Why… I don’t have a clue, but as long as I had the 90 day playability on it, I figured I’ll just go back to a more conventional looking 3h.

That brings us to the 3 wood. I recently had a playoff between an Epic Max, an 0211, and an Epic Star. To be honest, there was no real standout, and I decided to go back to the only 3 wood I’ve ever hit well, the 2018 Rogue, with the same Quaranta 50 shaft I had, only this time it will be in Senior flex.

That completes my conversion to Senior flex throughout the bag, but I couldn’t resist one more “just because” purchase. I’ve been putting lights out lately, as good as I ever have, and that’s always been the best part of my game, so why not buy something completely different… right? 😜

I can’t remember the last time I rolled a mallet, but I’ve been wanting to try one for a while. I love that PXG’s putter all come with 3 options to fit your particular stroke, so I took a flyer on a Gen2 Bat Attack heel shafted model. At $229 and a 30 day trial I’ll give it a workout on the practice greens. It might get in my bag sometime down the road, but my gamer isn’t going anywhere for now.

As Bugs Bunny used to say, “That’s all folks!”

CPO is the best btw. All those FWs I mentioned I tried out? The 4 of them ended up costing me a total of $42 out of pocket after trading in one club to begin the process. The Rogue 3 wood came with the head still in plastic.

The 4&5 hybrids were a little pricier through Callaway itself, but with  a 50% trade in bonus, and credit from those prior FW purchases (traded in my two original Rogue hybrids and FW) they cost me $120.
I got $219 back from PGASS for the Hy-wood, so the 18* will cost me $60.

You’re correct about CPO I’ve bought quite a few clubs from them over the years.  Lately not so much as their LH inventory in Senior shafts has been minimal.

I believe the 5h was approximately $60. Would love a 4h with that shaft!

Confirmed with me as well. I picked up a Sub-70 5H late last season and love it.

If you guys keep talking up the 5h I may succumb to peer pressure and try to replace my 5i.

@Rickp & @Tom the Golf NutWhat are the lofts on your 5h's?  I have a 23* ( like @Grand Stranded mentioned) but I use that as a 4h, my 190 club that goes about 10 yards longer than my 5i so it is a good gap for me.  I am not sure I'd like looking at a 26* with all that loft sitting down there?!?!

I think you will really like this driver... it is solid!

Just received my BirdieBall putting green yesterday..   My wife's first comment was "that is bigger than I thought it would be".  Normally, I would be happy with that comment from her... but in this case... I may have some making up to do.. 🤣

I bought the 4'x10' it also takes up more space that I thought it would. I have to move furniture to use it. Oh well.
